Do I need to purchase our APs in advance or can I buy them we we get there. Also does that effect getting the DDE (TIW)or can I just buy them at the same time?:confused3 TIA.

If you purchase AP in advance you still have to trade the voucher in once you get to WDW for a real AP.

We purchased our AP first thing when we arrived along with our DDE (TIW) membership. This worked out great for us. It was very quick.

Great. Where did you get them? We were thinking about hitting the guest services in DTD on the day we arrive.

We went to AK because it was the first bus to a theme park that arrived at the bus stop (plus it was the closest to our resort).

That's a good idea. You can get both the AP and the DDE/TIW card at the Downtown Disney Guest Services. We've found the lines are usually shorter there than at the parks and the staff very pleasant and professional.

Good to know!:thumbsup2 Figured we'd stop there on our way to the supermarket, since we do not do park on arrival day.

So now you CAN get the TIW card right away? Before we always had to order that ahead of time to get it in time.

Yes, you can purchase the TIW/DDE cards at Guest Relations - no need to order ahead of time. Of course, you still have to be either a Florida resident or an annual passholder.

You can wait till you get there to purchase AP and then TIW at same time, but if you buy APs well in advance, you eliminate the risk of paying for any ticket prices increase that might occur before you arrive.

Thanks, Carol! I was kind of hoping to do that, since we purchased our APs some time ago to get the lower price just before it went up. I was thinking I'd have to order the TIW card soon to have it by January, but I'll just wait and get it when we exchange the vouchers upon arrival.

We've been getting APs for about 12 years now, and the rules seem to change constantly.

We ordered our APs in July (about a week before the prices went up in August). I tried calling to order TIW and was told you can't get TIW using your exchange certificates - you have to have an actual AP.

We picked up our APs at Epcot in October (be sure to bring DVC ID to get the DVC discount - needed for both purchase and exchange certificate redemption). Got our TIW card at Guest Services. The TIW cards are no longer the plastic credit card style. They are now printed on the same paper as the APs. Part of Disney's greening initiative. The CM we spoke to wasn't familiar with the new TIW term - had to ask for a DDE card. I was glad to see we weren't the only ones struggling to pick up the new jargon.

Well THAT's different! We have always used the voucher numbers to get the DDE card in the past.
