~ A PTR for a CAMPING Trip That Might Never Be ~ *TR Started (link inside)*

It's not a good morning here in our house. :sad1: I got up this morning and realized I hadn't seen Josie. She's always up and begging me for her wet food first thing in the morning. Then I realized I hadn't seen her since sometime yesterday afternoon. Last night I didn't see her around, but I figured she was sleeping with the boys in their room (should have checked). So, I asked Sully if Josie had slept with him last night and he said no.

Josie has a bad habit of sneaking out the door whenever we open it. She's always just stayed on our porch and not ventured very far. There's been a few times we didn't even see her sneak out and an hour or two later we see her at the front door trying to get back in.

Well, she must have snuck out when the boys got home from school yesterday afternoon. They came in our back way - through the sliding glass doors. Later in the afternoon some maintenance guy came to work on our roof and if she was back there, it probably scared her away.

She's definitely not in the house. And I've looked out front and out back and done that cat noise thing to try and call her, but to no avail. We're all feeling very sad today, but I'm hoping she'll come home at some point.

I'd love to see a picture of your tattoo!!

Oh, don't worry -- if I get a henna tattoo I will definitely be preserving it in photo memory!

I am so sorry :(! I hope she comes home soon :(.

Cats are adept at finding their way home. A couple of years ago our cat, Topaz, managed to escape (she is the escape artist at our house). We were devastated! Three days later (after I had pretty much given up hope), I was sitting on the computer and kept hearing a cat meowing (I thought it was my imagination and wishful thinking). Turned out it was Topaz sitting by the back door! She had come home! Here's hoping Josie does too! :grouphug:

I am so sorry Carissa!:grouphug: I hope you are able to find her! While I don't have any cat experience I do know it can be hard on kids to lose a pet!:sad2: Good luck!:goodvibes

Awww, I am so sorry about Josie. I love cats and have had several through the years. I think Charleston Princess is right though...she could make her way back on her own. Cats are really good about finding their way!

Oh no! That's horrible. I really hope she comes back soon  I'm crying because I love Josie :(:( She was my little cat buddy ;) She sounds like she's a great cat; I agree with Princess! Well, she's in our prayers. :grouphug:

I hope she comes home soon. I know how it feels.

Any developments on Josie?

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement :)

It's been a tough day and one full of tears. After my older two went to school, Connor and I went for a walk to see if we could find her. No luck. Then I called animal control here on post and talked to an officer that wasn't the most friendly or helpful. He basically told me that if they found Josie, we'd be in violation of two rules and DH would be issued a 1408 or some such thing :sad2: See, you're suppose to register all pets within 10 days of having them on post. I knew this, but I didn't have it done. She was to be an indoor cat and it just didn't seem like a big deal. Anyway, we also found out all cats and dogs are suppose to be microchipped as well. So, that's two violations we're guilty of.

Then I began freaking out that if they DID find her, Chuck would get in trouble at work. I was finally able to talk to him (I don't remember if I mentioned that he was TAD to Pennsylvania until Thursday) and told him what happened. He said not to worry about the work thing - he thinks it wouldn't be a big deal and they'd just tell him to make sure and get the registration and microchip thing done.

That made me a feel a bit better. I printed out a recent picture of Josie and put our phone number on it. When the boys got home from school we walked to our street corner and put the sign up. Hopefully someone took her in and will see the sign, or she'll come home on her own.

I've really grown attached to her over the past 8 months and the house feels so very empty without her.

Thanks again everyone. I will keep you posted. I'll probably post a new installment tomorrow just to take my mind off of things because sitting around worrying isn't very good for my stomach :sad1:

Have you called your local animal shelter yet? I'll have my doggies send out a twlight bark for Josie!

Update: I guess we were posting at the same time. I forgot you were on base. I'm still sending out that Twlight Bark!!

Hey! I hope Josie comes home soon, but I'm sure she will be. One of myc ats ran away for a weekend, and we were really worried. He was a baby at the time (less than a year). He left on Friday right before my ILs came over. He came back on Tuesday. :confused3 He looked well fed and happy. We think he found some old lady to feed him.
