PLEASE understand that I'm only talking photographically here... Yours was a great shot (lighting wise) but compositionally it's, uh, a little lacking. With symmetrical images like that you really want to have it be centered and even on all sides. When I get BigTex's photo I'm going to do some minor edits in lightroom to boost the blacks and color while centering and rotating the image to see if I can make it really stand out.
You can look this stuff up online if you'd like. A friend of mine is a professional photographer/blogger/podcaster (now with over 100,000 downloads a month!) who made a photography 101 class where I learned how to shoot pictures. Mine started to improve immediately because I started framing pictures with composition in mind instead of centering my subject in the frame. I figured $25 for a set of videos I can watch on my computer was just fine with me.

Anyway, yours was a great shot in that the colors looked fantastic and the lighting was great but because of the angle it was kind of hard to have one thing to focus on. Conversely,
