A Overplanner's Pre-Trip Report

I'm enjoying reading your posts. But may I ask what are mousekeeper envelopes and what do you use them for?

I'm enjoying reading your posts. But may I ask what are mousekeeper envelopes and what do you use them for?

First of all, I want to :welcome: you to the Dis Boards! Thank you for joining in on my report.

Mousekeeper envelopes are envelopes that I've decorated for the housekeepers at Disney. We leave a small tip for them each day of our stay. It's always been a tradition for us.

If you have any other questions don't be afraid to ask! I don't bite! I promise!! LOL!!

Off Topic rant!! This is totally not about my trip.

I called my doctor's office this morning about a medicine that I needed refilled. Well, I left my name and the medicine that I needed refilled. Well, my pharmacy had been calling since last week and no luck. I'm not sure what the problem is.

Anyways, the girl calls me today and tells me that she called in my cholesterol medicine and that it was for one month and that I would need to fast before they called in any more medicine. Say what??? :scratchin I don't take medicine for cholesterol. It's the one medicine that I don't take.

Now, understand that I've had issues with this girl before. Well, I started laughing and she asked me what was so funny. I basically told her that she has the wrong medicine. She assured me that she didn't. I told her again that I didn't take that kind of medicine. She told me to hold and didn't bother to put me on hold. Then told me I was right.

What? Seriously? You have to be kidding me. I know every medicine that I take and that isn't one of them.

This isn't the first time that she's made a mistake like this. The last time really ticked me off. I had a mammogram and she called me and told me that everything was fine with it. Well, about three days later the radiologists office called to set up an appointment for another mammogram. Needless to say I was upset. Well, I called the office and told them what happened and of course they said that she didn't do it. Okay, so I made it all up. :furious:

We got a letter on Monday saying that they aren't taking our insurance anymore. All I can say is that after today's little fiasco I'm done with this doctor's office. This girl has no idea what she's doing and one day she's going to call in the wrong medicine and something bad is going to happen.

Now for my latest on the trip.....

My husband is driving me crazy over the snacks on the dining plan!! I can hear you asking why. So, I shall tell you!

We've talked about this a few times and I thought I had him convinced of this. Well, apparently I thought wrong.

I was explaining to him on the way to work this morning that we need to use our snack credits wisely. Because a $2.50 soda or water is a bad use of the credit. You would have thought that I slapped him. LOL!

He told me that it isn't and why should he pay for a water or a soda when he can use a snack credit. I tried to explain to him that you can get a sundae that costs $4.79 with that same credit. It's a much better deal!

Then he tells me that he doesn't eat sundaes. Since when? Oh whatever.... I'm going to sit down and show him what I'm talking about and if he says anything different I give up. LOL!!

Uhhh... she could really create a serious issue for a patient with her mis-information (to put it nicely.) You may want to consider writing a letter to the doctor letting him/her know that their office staff are putting the practice in jeopardy of a serious quality of care issue. Insurance companies don't look too kindly at office staff that impede care of misinform patients and end up paying for treatment that was un-necessary or worse! (sorry, end of my rant!) Anyhooo... I wish you the best if you need to doctor shop!

Whoa! I thought this was my DH you were talking about for a minute there!!! :lmao: That's so my husband. He would say uhhhh I don't want a snack, I want a water so I'm not "saving" you any $ by using a credit for a more expensive item. They just don't understand the Disney math!! :rolleyes1

ARGHH! pirate: I'm mad for you on the whole doctor's office situation! Finding a good doctor is hard ... finding a good doctor with a good staff is even harder. I hope you are able to find another one you like that has staff that respects their patients! Don't get me wrong - I used to work for a doctor and I know how overworked and overwhelming the atmosphere is ... but what happened to you is inexcusable!

NOW, my rant is over :rolleyes1

Have you shown your DH the list of approved snacks on the DDP and why it isn't a good idea to use those credits for water? If he's anything like my DH, he has to see it in black & white before it will penetrate the brain matter.

:sad2:

This lady maybe needs to rethink her career. It's one thing to make a mistake in that position -- as BearCatsFan said, high pressure environment -- but arguing with a patient instead of going back to double check is NOT the right response. She's on the phone with them already; double checking should not be costing her so much time she can't do it. She is never going to improve with the attitude that her patients don't know what they're talking about -- even people who have only the vaguest idea of what's going on with their health, generally know what pills they're taking!

Glad to hear you're going to be looking for better care. Best of luck to you in that search. :)

 Happy Saturday! How's the walking going?

Happy Saturday to you too!! The walking is going good. Went for a short walk yesterday because of some storms rolling in and DH and I are going for a walk today.

How's it going with you?

:yay: Glad to hear it's going well for you! Me? I'm just plugging along! :upsidedow

So, I realized today that I'm going to have to do FOTLK. Why? It's apparently going away to make room for the Avatar area. So, this trip will probably be the first and last time that we do it. We also have to do Nemo. Yes, we've never done either.

I realized today that since we are going to be at Disney during the F&W we can use some of the snack credits for the different booths. So, I was showing DH the menus and he actually said that he would use some of the credits for the booths. :cheer2: finally he sees something my way. LOL!

So, because I'm very undecided on what to do when we go to Florida I've decided that we probably aren't going to go to South Florida. Since DH doesn't want to rent a car, we are going to us Disney transportation.

So, no car equals no going to South Florida. I'm actually okay with that. I know that I'm very indecisive, but I think I just want to stay in Orlando.

I'm not so worried about flying anymore. I've just decided that with all the planes that take off everyday and nothing happens then flying is probably safer than driving.

Oh and DS will have 5 days off with prior permission. So, that means that he will be sick for the Thursday and Friday. Yes, school is important, but family time is even more important. If the last year has taught us anything, it's that life is precious and fleeting. This will be the first time we've ever let him miss school for a Disney vacation. This is a special occasion and I'm not about to let a bunch of idiots in Montgomery blow our trip for us. LOL!

Oh and I just wanted to throw this out there. If anyone wants to friend me on Facebook send me a pm and I'll give you my name there. LOL!

That's all for now. I guess I just wanted to go on and one. LOL!!

Oh and I wanted to tell a cute story about DS.

He was a little over 3 and we went to Disney for the first time. Well, he was potty trained and so we were good. However, DH decided to show him that boys can go to the bathroom in bushes. Well, I was at DTD with him and I was looking at one of the little booths. Well, I turned around and he had pulled down his pants and was going to the bathroom in one of the bushes. I was mortified and didn't know what to do. Luckily is was semi dark so no one could really see him. I still remember it and when we go to Disney and get near that place I laugh and tell him about it.

DS rolls his eyes and tells me that he's heard that story enough. LOL!! I still love telling it though!!

One more edit. DS is very picky and usually doesn't like cakes. In fact, I haven't ordered him a birthday cake in nearly 8 years. What do I get him? A fruit platter. Yeah, DS would much rather have fruit than cake. However, one exception is at Disney.

Back on his first trip he had a cake that had an edible sugar decoration on it. He loved it! He still talks about it to this day. 12 years later and he still remembers it.

so, I contacted my TA and she is waiting to hear back from the Disney Cake line. DS is really into Kingdom Hearts. Loves the games and everything to do with them. So, I asked her if they could do something with that. She said that she thinks it's going to be possible. Yay!! I'm so happy. It's going to be an edible sugar decoration also!! I love it!!! I love my TA!! She is the best!!

I am glad your fears about flying have eased up some. And you're absolutely right - thousands of people fly every day, and nothing happens, it's a totally safe flight!

So happy your TA is helping to arrange a cake for you. :yay: Did you check out the cake thread here and get some ideas?

Hope everything is going well for you! ::yes::

DH took me to our airport to look around and it seems to have worked. I've been amazingly at ease with everything since he took me. Maybe it's because I've never flown out of our airport before and part of me was unsure what to expect.

I have some ideas. I have checked out the cake thread here, but I want something a bit specific so I asked her to ask about it. If they can't do it then I gave her a backup plan. LOL! DS is really into Kingdom Hearts and I'm hoping that they can do a KH themed cake. If not I gave her a backup plan. A Mickey, Chip and Dale themed cake. Cause DS loves Garden Grill. LOL!

Everything is going good. Had an uneventful weekend and that's always a good thing. We went to the mall to walk this weekend since it's been a bit rainy here. But we are walking and it's good.

How's it going with you?

So, you know when they say when it rains it pours? Well, that's what's happening right now.

I got up from my chair a few minutes ago, stepped on one of Buddy's bones and I twisted my right ankle. It hurts like he)).... I'm going to have to go to my podiatrist and have him take a look at it. I don't think it's broken, maybe strained or sprained.

I've broken or sprained my ankle more times than I can count. I have very weak ankles. I'm hoping that I don't have to get a cortisone shot. Along with the weak ankle muscles I have arthritis in my ankles. Which makes it much worse for me when I sprain my ankle. :headache:

On a good note we are adding another day to our Disney tickets. So, instead of 6 days we are going to do 7. I've been told that I can do it once we get to the parks. I'm glad for that.

We decided that instead of going to south Florida. Many reason why we changed our mind. We are going to do one day of park hopping. We love going to all 4 parks in one day. Yeah, we are crazy, but it's fun and something that we try to do every trip. :hyper: At least we won't have to pay full price for the extra days ticket. LOL!!

I need to go to WalMart or someplace else to get some good tennis shoes. I would go to Target, but unfortunately I don't have small feet. So, I can either go to WalMart or Payless.

Okay, so my ankle is sprained. My doctor asked me how I did it this time. I laughed and told him that Buddy always lays at my feet and chews on his bones. So, I didn't watch where I was stepping and my ankle went out.

He did x-rays and said that it isn't broken. Thank goodness. So I'm hobbling along like crazy and DH is laughing at me.

I ended up cancelling my Cape May Cafe reservation. I do have a shellfish allergy and sometimes it can be aggravated by boiling shellfish. So, I was reading another trip report and the writer said that her son started having a bad reaction to the boiling crab. I had a feeling that this would end up being a bad idea. So, rather than be sorry and have an allergic reaction to the shellfish, I cancelled the reservation. It's just not worth it.

I'm sure that I'm going to drive my TA crazy, but I just don't want a trip to the hospital to be in my trip report. LOL!

So, I want to find another restaurant for that night. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've been looking over the Disney website and can't decide. I guess I've been thinking about it too hard.

It's time for bed and I hope everyone has a wonderful night.....

So glad to hear your ankle isn't broken. I hope it is healed up soon.

I think the 4-parks-in-a-day tradition sounds like fun! :yay: The most we've ever managed is two!

As far as a different ADR than Cape May ... what is available for that night?

California Grill is available, but not until 9:30 at night. Flying Fish Cafe is available. I'm thinking about doing that one. Just because

The four parks in one day is fun, but it can be exhausting. LOL!

So, I realized today that I'm going to have to do FOTLK. Why? It's apparently going away to make room for the Avatar area.

Wow. I guess we'd better make an effort to get to that as well. If it's even still there when we go!

Glad to hear the flying fear is fading. :) Also glad to hear you didn't break any bones in your ankle!

Can't imagine doing four parks in one day. :faint: Do you hit your favorite rides, or are there specific rides that are part of the tradition, or how does that work, exactly?

I like replacing Cape May with Flying Fish. Similar theme (well, in the vaguest sense of theme :p ) and location, yet totally different experience. Have you been to the Flying Fish before?

We hit our favorite rides in each of the parks.

In MK we hit the mountains. This time we want to add Splash Mountain to the list. We've never done it before so it's a must do this trip.

Epcot, we do Spaceship Earth, Living With the Land, Soarin, and DH & DS do Mission Space.

AK- The Safari Ride and Expedition Everest.

MGM- Rock N Roller coaster, Star tours and The Great Movie Ride.

We have never been to the Flying Fish before. this is going to be a trip of a lot of firsts for us. Lots of first places to eat and lots of rides to ride. Have you ever eaten there? It sounds good and the atmosphere looks great..

Oh no!!! I hope your ankle is feeling better soon!!!

Wait...WHAT????? Is FOTLK really going away for Avitar-land????? :faint: That's ridiculous, it's pretty much the most awesome show in Disney!!!!!!!

Yeah, CMC is definitely not worth risking a shellfish allergy over!!
