Can anyone suggest a nice resort for just hanging around? My sister and her family are looking to extend their stay after staying at AKL. She's looking for a place where they can spread out and the kids ( 2 & 4) can have fun. They will be done with the parks. So I guess location is not that important. Her wish list is

1 or more bedroom
restaurant on site
good pool area
kind of upscale

She would like to keep the price at below 160.00 or so per night.

I told her I would ask the experts.

Thank you in advance.

Consider a villa adjacent to Marriott Orlando World Center (MOWC). Sabal Palms & Royal Palms offer complete 2BR condos. Imperial Palms has 3BR condos. Each resort area has a quiet pool. But they share grounds and hotel amenities with MOWC. Guests park their car right outside their villa and may call for a complimentary shuttle van to/from MOWC. Guests have full access to MOWC facilities, including charge privileges on the room key.

MOWC has a few pool areas, including a gorgeous waterfall pool area w/pool slide, hot tubs, kiddie pool, sandy play area, poolside food & beverage waitservice. There's a small indoor pool, game room, fitness center and a good variety of restaurants and shops. The glass elevators offer a nice view of the region.

People have reported getting good nightly rental rates on the Marriott website as well as through a few wholesalers.

Timeshare resorts offer multiple bedrooms in their villas. There are a lot of other timeshare resorts offering nice pools, playgrounds, children's activities and deli-marts or poolside bar/grill. But I can't think of others with several full service restaurants onsite. Marriott Grande Vista has a golf clubhouse restaurant. Sheraton Vistana Resort (SVR) has a small sitdown restaurant. I believe Orange Lake Country Club & Resort (OLCC) does, as well. All of these places have excellent pool areas with special features and children's activities. SVR & OLCC can probably be found for a more reasonably rental rate through wholesalers than the Marriotts. HTH.

If she doesnt want to get too far away from the magic then I would say consider the dolphin. We stayed at the swan and the pool is on par with storm along bay. Its a great resort and still in the magic. You could still go to mini golf and downtown disney, still ride the boats etc. Their grotto pool is great. Beach volleyball, basketball, hot tubs, water volleyball etc. Its a great place. You can check out their website. We did this after our FTP. We used the time for water sports, pool time etc. They have some cute swan boats you can rent too. Many restraunts on site, also arcade, child care club etc.

sounds like the Wyndham Palms Resort & CC might work. they do have an onsite restaurant (I think its at the clubhouse of the Country Club). The 2 bedroom villas are running about $130 on hotelkingdom.com. they are alittle over 1500sq ft & if you request a ground floor villa, the kids can go outside & play as the screened in porch has a screen door leading out to a little grassy area perfect for kids (we were in building 21, lits of room to play)! the living room is quite large for spreading out, it has a huge (bigger than the normal size) leather sectional sofa & a 55" big screen tv. nice sized dining room table if they want to eat in for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The onsite restaurant offers "room service" and had some pretty good prices on family meals (roasted chicken dinners with sides or pizza, each for under 20 bux!) the master bedroom & bathroom has a king bed, separate jacuzzi tub (for 2!) & a walk in shower. there is also a 2nd bathroom with tub/shower & double sinks, the 2nd bedroom has 2 queen beds & small walk in closet. the screened in porch is quite relaxing with a comfortable set of table & chairs set & theres also a ceiling fan on the porch, my 1st thoughts about the porch was that it would be great for playing board games or cards to relax & wind down in the evening.

The Grande Lakes Resort is having an introductory rate right around what she wants to pay. Not only does it have a kid's club and a fantastic zero-entry pool, but the JW Marriott has it's own 'water park' of sorts (no slides, but a wonderful, winding lazy river that the children will enjoy for hours). It's a steal at that rate, with plenty to keep everyone occupied, and if you get the right section, you can see Sea World's firworks from your room.

when is she going - if now - she can get just about any timeshare in Orlando (except Disney's) for that price

www.expedia.com

I was looking for Nov - Disney is so much higher price it is funny.

they had the Polyn for $347 per night - can you imagine - a room for that price.

most of the timeshare will work - but tell your sister to be careful - Disney has lifeguards at their pools -

alot of the offsites don't and they have slides and kids unsupervised plus a slide is trouble - there have been accidents.
