A NEW Summer Excercise & Weight Loss Group?

Well, I'm ready to join in. I'd like to drop about 45lbs and get down as close to 200 as I can. I just have to really stop myself from being stupid with food; especially when i'm at work. It's really hard for me right now because my wife is 9 months pregnant and what mom and baby want I end up eating too but as soon as my daughter is born I want to get hardcore about my weight going in the opposite direction of the way it's been going lately.

Mind if I join?

My name is Kim and I'll be 39 next month. I've been trying to lose weight since September and so far have lost 43 lbs. I've been doing aerobic videos and last week started working with a Pilates trainer. I still have a long way to go but I'll get there eventually. :thumbsup2

43 lbs??? You rock! Is exercise your secret?

ERGH! Having a tough day ... heading to the barn now. Maybe if I clean a few stalls or groom some horses I'll forget about that leftover b-day cake for DD#2's 5th b-day yesterday!

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. I've been having computer problems since last week. :badpc: I think it has finally been fixed.

I've been trying to do some type of cardio most evenings. I can really feel a difference when I don't do it. I feel more sluggish and blah. I think it has made a big difference in my weight loss.

Birthday cake sounds yummy! I love sweets and it's so hard for me to stay away from them. :sad2:

Having a tough week at work. Trying very hard not to grab food when stressed out. Didn't get much of a chance to exercise this past weekend. DH and I have a townhouse in Ocean City, Md. We go down there on weekends and our vacations. This weekend we went on the motorcycle. Left Fri after work. Usually takes 3 hours but because of traffic it took over 5 hours. On Saturday we left at 7am to ride to Ft Washington, Md (which is right near Washington DC) for the Rolling Thunder Memorial for the pow/mia. We didn't get home until 5pm. Then Sunday we went for a 4 hour ride around the countryside with a group of friends. So, the only exercise I got was a 2 mile walk at 6am Monday before I had to clean and get ready for the ride back. Then when we got back home I took the 4 grandkids and one dd to see the pirate movie. Anyone see it? What did you think?

Dirty Bunny when is the baby due? Good Luck

Aspamhreditor2 how you doing? get a chance to get any walking in?

Have a good week everyone. I know, it is almost over but have been too busy to send message.

C leen and wdw4life what are your favorite exercise videos? Want to find one but there are so many out there and would like an idea of how other people like them before I spend too much $.

Can I Join ??

I am 27 and have been doing WW since Oct and have lost 30lbs I want to lost another 30 more at least. I am trying to walk everyday and now that the pool in our complex is open swim.

May I please join in? I am 35, mother of 4 kids, and an RN in my spare time. I started trying to lose weight back in November, I started at 245 and currently weigh 214. I would eventually like to be somewhere in the 140's. This month I want to get under 210.

I too have lurked around the boards but have been shy about joining some of the groups that have been running for so long.

DH and I are going to DW in Dec for a late anniversary trip, our first without the kids. We were supposed to go May 5th but I ended up having surgery on May 2nd, so we postponed until December, I want to have lost another 30-40 pounds by then.:dance3:

My biggest challenge is exercise. I need to, I walked for 45 min today, in two more weeks I am cleared to go back to the gym, videos, or bikes, so walking is about it for now.

I look forward to being a regular part of this group. Thank you for starting it up!:hippie:

I would like to join in! I'm 38 (almost 39:rolleyes: ) and have 2 kids. I haven't weighed myself in the last couple of weeks because it's too depressing:sad2: . But I would like to lose about 40 lbs. I don't really have a time limit, but definately by next May-June. I have been working out (mostly cardio), about 3 times a week. I would like to start working out about 5 times a week.

I've often lurked on this board. Now I'm ready to join. I need the support!!:grouphug:

Can I join too? Right now I'm at 179 and my goal is to be in the 120s. Tomorrow night DH and I are starting to work with a personal trainer. We're supposed to meet with him 3 times a week, so I'm hoping to see some great results. I'll try to update how the first session went tomorrow night, if I'm not in too much pain!

Weighed in today and am down 2 to 212! :cheer2: I will take it. I have been much better about walking this week, it is too hot in the middle of the day, but have been walking every evening with DH, Tor.

Gayle, I love your sig pix, very cute. How old are your kids? Mine are 16, 13, 5 and 3.

I hope everyone is having a great day!:goodvibes

Congrats on your 2lbs!!:woohoo:
My 2 dd's are ages 15 and 11. That picture was taken at Epcot. We were the first people in line.:goodvibes

Today wasn't such a good day. I was on the phone throughout lunch and only got to eat a bag of chips.:headache: That was terrible!
But, I'll be smarter and pack my lunch for tomorrow!:thumbsup2

Hi all... I've ditched the CB for a little while tonight because I really need to get healthy again... after having my DS 14 months ago, I'm still hovering between 175-180. I have always struggled with my weight but at my best, about 6 years ago, I was down to 145 and a size 10 (sometimes an 8). I felt GREAT and I looked great and I miss it sooo much.

After DS was born it was a very stressful time for us... DS was in the hospital and I lost my job. I had some PPD and just tried to cope for months. Now I have a new job waiting for me in September (I'm a teacher) so I am happy about that, but I look at pictures of myself and I don't recognize myself - I'm 30 but I think I look much older and I'm definitely very tired.

I miss the days when I worked out leisurely at my favorite gym 6 times a week - I miss the freedom of deciding it's a good time to go to the gym and just GO. I've been paying $ each month for a gym I hardly use anymore... hoping I'll figure out a way to start going back. Maybe late night when DS is asleep? I just don't know where to start.

I eat well - we're following the YOU "diet" - and I lost a few pounds that way earlier in the year - but I want to lose 30 pounds and it just seems so impossible right now. At the very least I want to lose 10 pounds before my cousin's wedding on July 6th. I know I just have to get up in the morning and start... but I've had so many starts and stops that I am frustrated.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Reporting back in: the trainer session was good. I think they'll get better as we get into a routine. DH and I are training together, so it was taking the trainer a little longer to coordinate 2 people, but once we get it down, we'll be really rocking. :woohoo:

I've been taking classes at the gym too. Yesterday I did a yoga class which I really enjoyed; I'm going to try to hit that one every week. I'm kind of a klutz, so some of the balance poses were hard, but it was a really relaxing class and the stretching should be a good acompaniment to the weight workouts with the trainer.

This morning I did Pilates, which I can't say I enjoyed, but it was a really good class. I will probably enjoy it more when I am in better shape. Right now I have trouble with some of the moves. It's going to be a great workout to help strengthen my abs though, so I'm going to try to keep it up weekly as well. I think this smilie looks like me in pilates: :scared:

Hope everyone else is having a good week!

Good afternoon everyone!

Gayle, sorry your day wasn't great, I have done things like that too many times to count, I really try to pack up my foods the night before to take to work the next day...much easier to not fall prey to the junk food that seems to abound. Of course, that necessitates that I have done my shopping :lmao: which is another of life's little challenges I am trying to be better about.

Mom2alix-:rotfl2: :rotfl2: too funny about the pilates! I am impressed, a trainer, yoga and pilates. Great job!

Mimmy Mouse, thank you again for starting this group, I think it will be alot of fun.:goodvibes.

Welcome everyone!:hippie:

See what happens when I get busy for a few days! Wow ... glad to see so many new faces!

Welcome spoodleink, keyana, disneymom99 and mom2alix

Sorry I've been absent. Had a major deadline for work AND did a birthday "weekend" for my girls. They are 5 & 8 and have b-days exactly a month apart. Split the difference and had their parties on same day 1/2 way in between so all of our family could be here. Plus we went all out & rented a moonjump. Two carnival b-day parties, a b-day dinner for out of town family ... oh, and it was first communion. I ended up sleeping for almost 3 hours on Sunday afternoon after everyone left!

So ... no exercise for about 10 days ... other than house & yardwork and barn work/working the horses. Plus ... can you say CAKE???

Will be out of town again for a few days ... dealing with my elderly father's cancer treatment. He lives downstate. Since my mother passed away this spring, we want to stay w/ him the first couple of nights.

However, I'll be back on Monday. Dread getting on the scale, but I will get back to doing this. I know I've done some backsliding. Had been down about 8 pounds for my first month but ... like I said ... birthday cake!

Good look to everyone!

Amy

Amy,

Birthday cake is SO hard!! It sounds like you have a lot going on. No exercise for a week, just working in the garden, in the barn, setting up a party, and the dreaded cleaning house to have guests, etc. You probably already got more exercise than most just doing chores!

Here's hoping the scale has good news for you Monday and that the weekend with your father goes well. Sorry to hear that he's sick. :grouphug:

Is there room for one more? I'd like to lose 30lbs. I need to lose more but I'd be happy with 30. I'm motivated after just returning from a trip to WDW with DS. I kept pace walking everywhere (BWV to MGM and BWV to Epcot) but know I would've been a whole lot happier if I didn't have to carry this weight around.
popcorn::1c low fat no salt popcorn of course

Hi all!

Well, I went out the other morning and started with a half hour walk/jog (about three minutes on, three off). The first time I lost a lot of weight, during college, I did it through running with a friend of mine - we definitely kept each other on track. I was not surprised but still amazed at how quickly I got winded. My knees definitelty took a beating!! I was also a major PITA all day to my DH, bless him... I was way more tired that I expected to be.

Yesterday and today I did more of a power walk instead. 3 days so far... I've also discovered my cable company's exercise on-demand channel... going to check that out especially on rainy mornings.

Today I got groceries and I managed to resist the temptation to pick up a few extras that would have killed my progress. I've been working on drinking a lot more water.

Have a great evening everyone!

Is it too late to join?

I had 55 pounds to lose in January and am now down 23. I still have 32 to go. I am 32 and the mama of 2 year old triplets (you'd think I'd be skinny with chasing after them). I sit at a desk during the day looking at/drafting documents so I need to squeeze exercise in early morning. DH and I take turns going to the gym so some weeks I get 2 days and some 3. I need some motivation to get there on the weekends before the kids get up to up that number to 4/5 times a week. I had a slump in weight loss in May (thanks to DDP and not returning to my diet when I got back from WDW) but I am back on track now.

I would love to get to know everyone!

Jill
