What do you guys think about Jim Lewis, the new DVC Senior VP. I was reading his article in Vacation Magic (Page 16 Spring 2004) and he said a number of intriguing things about DVC!

When asked about SSR, he said that DVC is “just getting started, we are going to grow and people are going to notice. There’s going to be a lot of excitement, and more prestige, and cachet associated with being a DVC member” Anyone want to guess what he means????

When asked what changes members can expect he says “More resources will be focused on DVC and those resources are going to enhance the product” He says they will raise the level of service to the members.

He says that the changes will greatly benefit existing members.

What is he talking about? Just new resorts or are we going to be able to use our points for other things (park passes, better cruise deals, a home resort of a cruise ship). Or is he just giving us bull, I tend to think and hope the latter with big new exciting resorts and options for DVC members.

It's probably somewhere in-between. ;) I agree that his interview was very encouraging and I look forward to hearing more in the future. Awhile back a CM hinted to Webmaster Doc that new announcements would be coming...these two factors combined seem to indicate there may be positives ahead.

Sounds like they have a lot of plans for the future, a real focus on making the DVC experience even better. It may just be talk, but it sounds like they are really putting an effort into new things for members!

I agree 100% with Pam.

Additionally, it would be nice for us to get some additional perks since we are the folks that come to WDW year-after-year and are spending considerable $$$$ to do so. I'll keep my fingers crossed for exciting resorts and additional perks at some level.::yes::

THe DVC management also commented at the OKW annual meeting that they are fully aware that DVCers would like better on-site and ticket media discounts. They said they were "working on it", so here's hoping the negotiations go well.

Not to be negative BUT it sounds like
"same old same old to me"

P.S But I never wanted to be more wrong!;)

Well, it certainly sounds intriguing. I hope we will see some of these "changes that will benefit existing members" sooner rather than later. The suspense is almost too much to bear!;)

New Sr. Management is always going to try and do things better than those before them. I hope that there are new and exciting things ahead for DVC. I've been very happy the past 4 years but always nice to see and hear about new things.

It could mean a lot of things or nothing like one person suggested. The level of services is a place where I would like to see us return to, that is more people to clean up the rooms and have them ready for those of us who check in, not having to wait until 4 PM. Someone should start to enforce the rules that are there about check-out, capacity and general rules that are there for the common good. Olivias needs new outside furniture, the tables are outrageous that they have outside, they should have been replaced years ago. Small things like that go a long way in adding or taking away from the experience at a resort.

Unlike his predecessor, George Aguel, where DVC was only ONE of his responsibilities, and therefore didn't always get full attention, Jim Lewis will be full-time DVC, and it will be 100% of his responsibilities.

That alone is encouraging to me.

I don't want to sound negative, but any changes made to DVC will probably only benefit DVC. Let's face it, they don't need to give us anymore perks...we're already a "captive" audience. Using the Disney Visa as an example: any promotions for double points, lower interest, vacation discounts, etc. have been marketed to new cardholders or existing cardholders that don't charge that much to the card. I charge a couple of thousand dollars on mine each month and have never been offered anything. I wish at some point we would be rewarded for our loyalty instead of being taken for granted. ::yes::

Hey Calypso atleast you get the Disney Visa those of us from Canada don't even get to apply for it we are even left further out by that one. We have no more Disney Club Card and the perks of the Visa are not even offered to us up here. I for one have been extremely happy with the purchase support and service of everything offered by DVC if they improve it then great but I am honestly happy with it just as it is now. I however could use a little better rate on the 7 day hoppers as I am sure most people could.

I agree with Caskbill. We now have our own Disney Exec for DVC.

His ideas will probably take time to implement. But we have plenty of years remaining on the contracts, so we can be patient.

I think DVC has rewarded with more than it has promised. When initially sold, the points could only be used at OKW. Now the people who origionally bought can use points at 7 Disney hotels. If DVC grows and adds new resorts like SSR it only gives us more options. I believe that we have found a gold mind of lifetime vacations in the most magical place in the world.

The location is everything! We own at the best location in the world. Disney is added 4 new attractions in the next 2 years right outside our doors. The parks are the very best in the world. The 4 Disney parks are ranked number 1 through 4 in attendence every year. I am privledged to be an owner.

I truely believe DVC will grow and turn out even better!

I think DVC have grown to a point were it deserves greater focus, and Lewis appears to have been given the clout to make things happen. I think it shows how strategic timeshare has become to WDW.

I'm sure Lewis has got growth in mind, and in the timeshare business that means more development, and that's good news for members. :D

I don't want to be a total creep .;) , but I just wanted to say that I think this is a wonderful comment. I too feel very priviledge to have been able to buy into DVC, despite any small gripes I may sometimes have about it! Any new ideas Jim Lewis brings will be a great bonus. :D

Who knows? Expansion of DVC? More DVC gear at the gift shops? More discounts? More members only events? It's nice to ponder.

1. member events that don't cost an arm and a leg

2. more DVC gear that doesn't cost an arm and a leg

3. discounts on some form of tickets (I'd prefer annual passes at the Florida Resident rates or better)

4. more car rentals on property.

Basically, I agree that they have us (DVC members) over a barrel. We bought in, we go a lot, we spend money. One would think that would mean that, since we are a captive audience and guaranteed income, that they would be nicer to us.
