Ok Dissers,
What's your favorite? We have monopoly & clue. What are some other good ones?

It's not a technically a board game, but my favorite game to play with family is Apples to Apples! :thumbsup2

We like Sorry and Trouble. Also, we like Uno Attack, although it's not a board game.

Apples to Apples, ImaginIF are two of our favorites. They are great for any age and depending on how old people are the questions can be interpreted in several different ways. The kids LOVE playing ImaginIF with their friends and as adults the game is a BLAST-especially with good friends and a little alcohol :rolleyes1.

We love games! Tripoli is lots of fun with at least 3, preferably more, people. Rummikub is great, Scrabble, Scattergories, Pictureka... We love all of these! And Uno Attack... Catch Phrase is fun for a group of older teens or adults.

We LOVE games! Favorites are Apples to Apples, Yahtzee Free for All, Yahtzee, Ticket to Ride (expensive and involved, but we love it), Blokus, Scrabble (for older ones), Disney Trivial Pursuit (although I wish it were more up to date), Zooreka (for younger ones), Cadoo, card games.:cool1:

We recently rediscovered SkipBo... not a board game, but fun. And up to six people can play... AND it's very portable. :)

Phase 10, Pictureka (this one has definitely become a favorite), Apples 2 Apples (if you have 4 or more to play), Go Bananas, Catch Phrase

Not all are board games but they are all def. family favorites.

SkipBo is awesome!! We like Phase 10 (either card version or dice version), Uno, and Swap too.

Board games that we like are Sorry, Parcheesi, Clue, Life, Scrabble, and, if you have enough players to form 2 teams, Tabboo or Pictionary.

My family loves the Scene It games. Right now we have 7 of them!! And another one hidden for Christmas.

We have:

Scene It JR

Scene It Squabble(Funny with another couple)

Scene It TV

Scene It POC(Hard)

Scene It Disney(Kids favorite)

Scene It Disney 2nd Edition

Scene It Music(My favorite because I can whup DH's butt ;) )

And for Christmas: Scene It Disney Channel

We play Phase 10 with another couple and recently picked up Phase 10 Twist which is faster to play and less math involved.

I agree with Apples to Apples, it's really fun. :thumbsup2

Another vote for Apples to Apples. It always makes us laugh.

Also another vote for Uno Attack particularly if there's a wide age gap in the players. Because the number of cards you have to draw is totally random, it really evens the playing field for the younger kids.

DD and I also like to play Rack-O and Phase 10.

And how about that? I didn't choose one traditional board game. :lmao: That would be Scrabble. DD used to team up with Grandma for that one. Grandma is cutthroat at Scrabble!

:thumbsup2 Great thread! Im buying board games for xmas....what is apples to apples about. Object of the game?

I like sorry, original uno and scrabble. Kids are old enough now to play!

Our family loves to play games. Our favorites would be Scene It Disney, Trouble, Yahtzee, Scrabble and Uno (not really a board game, also have Uno AttacK). We have tons more, but these are the ones we play most frequently. We had to stop playing Monopoly b/c DS always wins and he's only 11 :rotfl:.

Another vote for Apples to Apples!

I actually get a kick out of "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" It might be way too easy for someone who's a teacher, but you'd be surprised how much you don't remember.

I always have a hard time explaining it (although it's super fun!!) so here's what wiki has to say:

Each player is dealt seven "red apple" cards; on each is printed a noun or noun phrase (such as "Madonna", "Canada", "The Spanish Inquisition", "Michael Jackson", etc.).

The judge (a chosen player) draws a "green apple" card on which is printed an adjective ("scary", "frightening", "patriotic", etc.), and places it face-up on the table for everybody to see. Then each player (except the judge) chooses a card that they think is the best match for the green apple card, and places it face-down. The judge shuffles the red apple cards, reads them (often aloud), and decides which noun is the best match for the adjective. This decision is subjective; the official rules encourage the judge to pick the match that is "most creative, humorous or interesting". Some might think it humorous if "mud" is played for delicious, and might give that player the point.

The player who submitted the chosen red apple card wins the round, and takes the green apple card to signify the win. All players then draw red cards until they have seven again, and the role of "judge" may pass to another person (generally going to the next player in line, though some rules have the round's winner becoming "judge"). Some editions of the game suggest discounting the last red-apple card played, to encourage players to place their cards down more quickly.

Each player is allowed a one-time only "switch-a-roo", which allows the player to discard their entire hand of red cards for a new set of red cards.

The winner is the first player to accumulate a pre-designated number of green apple cards; the more players, the lower the total.
