A Mouse, Two Little Minnows who wear out Grumpy and Test Track Moves to Naples 11/26

What a great condo! And what a great day! Seeing your friend again AND winning $1,000 - it just doesn't get much better than that :goodvibes

Nope, doesn't get any better than that (unless, of course, I won enough to move to Florida).

Ooooh sounds like a good time. I'm sure she would eat that up! princess:

It is great to dream isn't it? :cloud9:

I have no doubt she would love it.

And I love to dream. :goodvibes

The condo is so pretty and I love the location......right on the canal. :goodvibes

:woohoo: $1000 bucks!!!! That is AWESOME!! I think I have won a dollar once. I am so not a lucky person!! :sad2:

The Dis really is such a great place for meeting friends....so many wonderful people here :grouphug: and everyone I have ever met has been just as wonderful in person :goodvibes

Tracy

Thanks, Tracy. The condo is really nice and the perfect size and spot.

Believe me...I'm not normally lucky at all--it is a rare occasion.

The DIS is great...I can't count the number of great people I've met here.

Now, Mark does NOT drink Starbucks coffee at home because he feels it tastes like soap or perfume; he's a Dunkin Donuts coffee man . But there are no Dunkin Donuts where we were and he said he would suffer (he actually said the coffee at this Starbucks wasn't quite so bad). We grabbed a table and waited for Nicki to show up. We were early...do you think I was anxious to see her?????

Tell Romeo that they just started working on the new Dunkin Donuts across from the Walmart today...it will be done for your next visit so he can go there while we chug-a-lug at Starbucks!

And then we "heard" the sports car and knew that she had arrived. Hugs and kisses were given out and Nicki went inside to get her coffee before she came to join our table.

Ah come on, the baby isnt that loud

We sat and talked for over an hour before Nicki had to go to work. I am telling you that it is like I found my "long lost sister." I have two brothers and no sisters and always wish I had one. Well, I do now! Nicki and I just hit it off immediately last year and it continued, over all the miles, to this visit. We just have such a good time together...we laugh, we cry, we worry, we cheer, etc. Our family life from when we were younger is similar (sibling problems, parent problems, etc). I just love her so much and am so glad that the DIS brought her into our lives.

And I love you just as much! You are an amazing friend and I dont know what I would do without you!

It was all very yummy.

I love the Sand Bar but I wish you guys tried it for breakfast, incredible!!

So our first full day on Marco Island was a thrilling one to say the least. I got to see my best friend and we won $1000.

Aw, it was the greatest day for me too, I waited an entire year for this moment! And I wish you that kind of luck every single time you buy a scratcher!

The condo is just gorgeous! Such a nice family to let you use their FL home!

And yes, we did get into some trouble huh :rolleyes1

Great update, Marco looks like a nice place! Your condo is cute!

I'm not a big fan of Starbucks coffee...but the mixed drinks I LOVE! I could live off of Frappucinos...and that new Toffee Mocha they have...OMG, so good! :lovestruc

The Sand Bar looks soooo good!

Can't believe you won $1000 on a scratch off! :thumbsup2 Do you know, ever since I read that a few weeks ago, I've been buying scratch offs every week? :rotfl: So far, the most I've won was $40! :confused3

And apparently I'm not one of them...... :sad1:

Marv, you are truly one of my favorites.

Sssh....don't give our secrets away. We've got three more days before I get to that.

Marco is really nice. The Sand Bar is great. Next year we have to go for breakfast per the Food Porn Queen.

Hey, $40 is a start. :)

So Mark and I woke up to go meet Nicki for coffee again before she had to go to work. She was so cute...she had to see our winning ticket because she had never seen a "winning ticket" before. :rotfl2::rotfl2: So we shared our coffee and confirmed what time we were meeting her and Todd that evening.

The day called for clouds most of the day and rain off and on so we decided to drive into Ft. Myers and cash in our winning lotto ticket. Before we did that, we stopped at Walgreens so I could drop off my prescriptions to be refilled and ready for us to pick up when we got back from Ft. Myers.

I assumed we'd get a check, minus state taxes, and deposit it at a Chase Bank (unfortunately, we bank at Chase). We got to the office and filled out the paperwork; the attendant asked us to have a seat and she'd be with us shortly. She called us up and gave us our paperwork for taxes and our check. We were told that if we went to the Wachovia Bank down the block they would cancel it that day; if we went to any other Wachovia Bank it could not be cashed for two days. Well, where do you think we went? Of course, we went down the block.

Mark and I were hungry so we stopped for lunch on the way back. We saw a cute place called:

A picture from the inside:

Since I had shrimp the night before, I didn't want it again for lunch so I ordered the scallops; they were really yummy (I also had a bowl of clam chowder soup which was really gone); Mark had crab cakes and said they were scrumptious. I have no pictures because Grumpy was complaining about my taking food pictures away from Disney. :confused3:confused3

After lunch we drove back to Walgreens and got my prescriptions. We dropped the prescriptions in the room and put the money away and went and took a walk on the dock.

While we were down there, we saw this guy in the water:

After watching a few specials on the nature channel, I was very leary of going to far out in the ocean. Sorry...I just don't want to meet any jellyfish. Nothing personal of course. ;)

Mark decided to be silly while we were on the dock:

DSC01467.jpg

It had started to drizzle and he was wearing his neck brace that lefts off the electrodes and it can't get wet, so he tucked it under his shirt and pretended he was the hunchback.

Shortly after that, we headed up to the condo to take showers to get ready for dinner with Nicki and Todd. When I went to the patio, this is what I saw:

We started driving in the rain towards the restaurant for dinner. Of course, we got lost. The GPS pulls up the street we are supposed to go to as the little side street rather than the main street (it won't let you put the N at the end of the street). Anyway, after two phone calls to Nicki, we found the restaurant and met them at:

DSC01480.jpg

Now up to this point, I had not yet met Todd. I can tell you that with his bright smile and big hug when we were introduced, I fell in love with him immediately. We decided to let the guys sit next to each other so they could talk about whatever guys talk about (work, cars, etc.) and Nicki and I sat next to each other. Nicki ordered a Blue Hawaiian:

DSC01477.jpg

She said it was very, VERY strong and she had to send it back to have a little more juice added to it.

I don't remember what Todd had, but here's a picture of his drink:

DSC01478.jpg

I had my first ever Mai Tai and it was very good (also very strong):

DSC01479.jpg

Mark had a Japanese beer (Harbin), but I forgot to take a picture.

We started out with the Oriental Clear Soup:

Green Salad:

We also had Stir Fried Vegetables, Japanese Steamed Rice and Shrimp Flame.

Nicki, Todd and I had the Filet and Shrimp while Mark had hte Filet and Chicken. The food was out of this world good:

Our waiter graciously took a picture of the four of us at the table before we left:

We settled the bill (and YES we did pay) and went outside.

Then we took a few pictures outside of the restaurant:

(Yes, Nicki and I were a looped after our cocktails)

A gracious man offered to take our picture outside (again, I look looped--watch it MARV!). He cut off Todd's head a little bit:

Hugs and kisses were exchanged and we said goodnight. We decided to sleep in a little the next day so we didn't make a coffee date with Nicki, but I, of course, called her as we had to make plans for the next day after that (Saturday).

So, did we go to the pool or the beach on our next day -- Friday?

Marv, you are truly one of my favorites.

Sucker!!!! :rotfl2:

You? Looking looped???........oh never mind, it's not like anyone will doubt what I'm saying on that one anyway......:lmao:

I know! I know!!!!;)

What a nice relaxing day... you even got to enjoy some time outside in-between the raindrops.

How did it feel to have 1K in your pocket???? :confused3 :cloud9::cloud9:

What a great meal! Hibachis are so much fun!!!!!

I think the guy who took your pic was a little loopy too since he cut off Todd's head.. LOLOL

Great updates, Kathy!

I love all those photos of Marco Island! Guess we really need to make it over there once! ;)

Those photos of all of you are wonderful! You must have had a wonderful time! I really envy you!!!!!!!!! ;)
Your food at dinner looked very good - even though it is NOT Disney food! :lmao:
Boo to Mark for not letting you take photos of food ALL the time! ;)

Can't wait for more! popcorn::

When I was younger, we'd head down to the Jersey Shore (south, no guidos) a lot during the summer. One year there was a jellyfish invasion and they were all washed up on the shore. I was so grossed out

I have to admit I am now verry hungry .... the filet and shrimp looks awesome ..... mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

OK ... snap out of it. It's been a while since I was in Marco. But from what I can see on the place mat there is one in Ft Myers and Sarasota. My folks live in North Port so maybe I can convince them to take a lil trip to Sarasota for some dinner .. I may even pay for it .. :lmao:

Catching up....congrats on the lottery win! That's so cool!

Your pictures are bringing back memories. My grandparents had a condo in Cape Coral, and we used to do the drive to Sanibel Island quite a bit. So I know the general Ft. Myers area, anyway. Nice update!

No, not a sucker...I just didn't want you to feel bad.:laughing:

So, you are going to keep us in suspense about the Mai Tai's in Hawaii???

Yes, I admit...I was a little looped. I don't drink very often so it doesnh't take much. Or, before you can say it, it could have something to do with my age.

What a nice relaxing day... you even got to enjoy some time outside in-between the raindrops.

We've not done hibachi in awhile so it was extra fun and special.

No, the guy was just REALLY short who took the pic. :rotfl::rotfl:

Karin, you and Tom really need to make a side trip to Marco...if for no other reason than to meet Nicki and Todd.

Yeah, Mark was being a poophead there for a couple of days.

Marco looks beautiful...even with the rain!

Sounds like you had a great time!!

We did have a great time, Sophia. And it rained every day for awhile, but usually late in the afternoon after we were done at the pool or beach.

When I was younger, we'd head down to the Jersey Shore (south, no guidos) a lot during the summer. One year there was a jellyfish invasion and they were all washed up on the shore. I was so grossed out

I just really DON'T like those jellyfish. And I think the little ones can be worse than the bigger ones if I remember correctly.

I have to admit I am now verry hungry .... the filet and shrimp looks awesome ..... mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

The filet and shrimp were absolutely delightful. We flew in and out of Ft. Myers...a very nice airport. Grumpy has been to Sarasota on business.

Catching up....congrats on the lottery win! That's so cool!

Thank you, Mark. We've never been to Sanibel Island (I know my middle brother was there once with his ex-wife and kids).

I am posting from my phone so forgive me if this turns out with a random word, silly spell corrector! :). Loving the Marco updates!!! I got a teary eyed when you mentioned you always wanted a sister and now you finally had one! So sweet. $1000, your BFF, good food. Yep, soundsike an awesome time! Wonderful pictures of the four of you!

I'm going to guess the beach.

Sounds like ya'll had a really good day.....especially good since you got to pick up your lottery winnings! Glad you know what that feels like 'cause I certainly don't.:sad1:

I'm glad that the two of you were able to have a nice dinner with Nicki and Todd. The food looks scrumptious and I am sure that the company was wonderful.

Your lottery winning has inspired me to get a quick pick for our weekly draw up here.

It's only upto $44Million, but if it gets to $50M it has a bunch of individual draws for $1M each right after the major draw.

Anyways, the nice thing about a lottery draw up here is that lotto winnings are tax free. Whoo Hoo. :woohoo:

Your dinner looks delish, it's making me hungry but unfortunately lunch today won't be steak & shirmp....

Hi, Brook. I spell wrong using the regular keyboard...so no worries there.

Life is very strange. I have two brothers--one I get along with great, the other I talk to once a year. I never had that really "best" friend through high school and I do have my friend Shelley who I've been best friends with for 27+ years. But Nicki and I just have that something special that makes us feel like sisters.

Stay tuned to see if your guess is right.

Lisa, the food was scrumptious and the company was the best--we had so much fun talking, laughing and plotting.

Our Mega is up to $101 million. However, we do HAVE to pay taxes. But I'd be willing to split that 20 ways or so...I'm not greedy.

Your dinner looks delish, it's making me hungry but unfortunately lunch today won't be steak & shirmp....

Unfortunately, it won't be my lunch either. :sad2:
Nicki got to go again on Tuesday of this week for her birthday. :headache:

That food looks great.
I must go buy a lottery ticket today! Maybe your luck will rub off on me. I could do alot of Disney damage with $1000! But imagine if I won more! :worship:
