We had a wonderful time on our trip. We spent four days at Disney World and eight days on Marco Island. And it now time for the dreaded trip report. I say dreaded because at my age it is hard to remember everything little thing we did...especially when we didn't have time for me to take notes on this trip. So I will post, hopefully, all of the highlights and the lowlights to the best of my abililty.

Up next, is the chapter links followed on the next post by the cast of characters.

Well, from my running the CSR "Unofficial" Faq thread and my PTR and my just jumping in on many of your trip reports, you already know the cast of characters. But for anyone new who decides to join in, here is the cast of characters:

Mark, also known affectionately as Grumpy (Mark LOVES everything Disney related and everything about Florida; if he had taken the time to look for a job while we were on our trip and had been offered one, I can guarantee you that we would have been living there within the next six months). Mark is just a little kid in a man's body:

Me, the narrator of this trip report, Kathy. I fell in love with Disney on my first visit there with Mark. I, too, wish we lived in Florida and one of these days that dream will come true:

Nicki, the Food Porn Queen of the DIS. We had hoped Nicki could go with us to Disney, but work prevented her. But we spent a LOT of time with her on Marco so she is part of our cast of characters:

And we have three other "cast characters" this trip from a DIS meet. Now, I haven't included all of the people we met from the DIS on this trip, but as we spent quite a bit of time with these three, they had to become part of our trip report. This is MaryAZ and her beautiful daughters, Avery and Cayley:

First page, go ME!!
We are honored to be part of the cast!! Thanks again for really making our trip a great one!

So Mark and I got up super early on Friday, September 17. We did this for two reasons. One was so that I would be tired and could hopefully sleep on the plane. For those of you who didn't follow my PTR, I HATE to fly and poor Mark is usually black and blue by the time we land at our destination. And second, we wanted to have breakfast as we knew we wouldn't be getting much on the plane. So we went to the local pancake house and had breakfast (sorry, I did not take pictures of our breakfast that morning). Mark had a cheese and ham omelet and I had french toast.

We finished up what little packing we had and said goodbye to OUR princess, Cookie:

We drove over to my mom's house to pick up my brother, Bob, who would be taking us to Midway Airport. We usually fly out of O'Hare as it is closer to our house and a bigger airport. However, when we were able to get airfare of $398 for the two of us as opposed to over $450 per person out of O'Hare, Midway it was.

We had done online check in so we already had our boarding passes and only had to drop off our luggage. Once inside the airport, we took a leisurely walk to our gate as we had two hours until flight time.

Once we were on the plane, I took a couple of pictures:

I got the window seat on the way down:

The great dining options you get on flights these days. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

As we were beginning our descent into Ft. Myers:

Continued in next post.

We landed at the airport in Ft. Myers 20 minutes early. The flight was smooth all the way and I actually dozed for 45 minutes on the flight. It was sunny and beautiful we landed and we just had the biggest grins on our faces.

The sighting of our first palm tree at the airport:

We got our luggage, picked up our Alamo rental car and started the drive to Disney World. We were really getting hungry at this point. Now, Nicki will CRINGE when she reads this, but Mark and I love the Waffle House...simple food and filling. So we stopped at Waffle House before our 3 hour drive to the World.

I had my Cheese omelet with my hash browns scattered, smothered and covered and Mark had his cheesy eggs with grits and raisin toast:

We finished our meal and headed on our way to the World. We arrived "home" right at 9 p.m.

The fountain in the lobby of the CSR:

We were originally going to ask for the Ranchos because it is the only section we have not yet stayed in at the CSR (this is our ninth stay at our "home"). However, I found out they were painting all of the buildings on the outside and sometimes paint smell and I don't get along. So I asked for any building that was NOT being painted. We were given a room in Cabanas 8A which was a super location. We were steps away from the main pool and a short walk over the bridge to the main building.

We were in Room 8141.

We arrived to our room and had two great surprises. The first was a gift bag full of treats from our good friends here on the DIS, Karin and Tom (dizneeat). The bag was extra special because it had my DIS screen name on it. This would be the bag that I would carry around the parks for the next four days and it was perfect--it helped with other DIS members stopping to say hello.

We also received a bag from the Coronado:

The two bags were STUFFED with all kinds of goodies. Here are a few of the pictures to show all of the goodies received:

Take all the time you need! I have 19 days left before we leave for WDW and literally NOTHING to do until then so I'll be loitering here on The DIS! :rotfl2:

Great start! I love how you're minutes away from leaving for Florida and just having a leisurely breakfast like it's any old day! We're usually scarfing down Burger King or Dunkin Donuts in the car on our way to the airport!

I'm here! I'm here! Great start, Kathy!!

But, please, PLEASE! Don't tell me you went with AirSuckyTran!!

I'm so glad you ar ehere, Leisa. Yes, we went with AirSuckyTran. And I wonder if it will get worse now that Southwest is buying them? :confused3

Wonderful start, Kathy...
Danny loves Waffle House (I usually try to get him to go to Cracker Barrel), I don't mind as much now since you can't smoke. I love the hashbrowns smoothered and chunked w/grits and eggs...Danny usually does the whole thing on his hashbrowns w/a cheese and ham omelet...if I tell him this I bet we end up there this weekend.

So, happy to hear that the flight there was fast and uneventful!
Love the goodies waiting for you guys; what an exciting way to start the magic :mickeyjum
