A Mother's Day Cruise on the Fantasy sandwiched between BCV (Complete 10/12, p.33)

Sorry to hear your mom didn't go to dinner, but glad you got to see the show! Sounds like a neat one. I would like to make it to one of those shows some night but by 10:30 I am usually toast.:rotfl:

How magical that you got a little special time with Minnie. What a shame that you mom missed dinner. The show sounds really good fun.

That's one thing I hate (aka secretly love!) about cruises is that all the food is included and at your disposal! And sometimes, it completely ruins dinner plans.

So cool about your run in with Minnie! Wow! Lol your mom just staying on the elevator made me giggle.

I think Disney has the best entertainment for both adults and children. We have been to every single adult show (I think minus 1 on the very first cruise) and have totally enjoyed it.

It all worked out, I'm glad she rested and had energy to go to the ventriloquist show. The show at dinner she can see next time, but who knows if we'll see a ventriloquist that good again. He was awesome.

We usually are toast by 10:30 too!

I love that the characters take time for guests even when going from one place to another. They could easily just keep walking or go through the employee corridors. It really was magical :)

I'll have to insist she come to AP on the special show night next year. It was such fun to see my drawing dancing along on the screen.

And the ventriloquist was fabulous, I'm so glad she made it to that.

I love it! popcorn:: you don't have to go far and you don't have to exchange money. It's the best!

She was star struck! :teeth: I was too but I'm so glad I thought to ask for a photo.

Every one we've seen has been top notch. I'd like to go to more but sometimes am just too tired.

Day 6: Jamaica, Pirate Night

Today was a special day for DCL, it was the first time the Fantasy had ever been to Jamaica. Mom and I had looked at every single excursion being offered and none of them stood out to us so we just decided to make today a sea day. This really worked in our favor because it rained pretty much all day.

After looking at the navigator our only plan for today was to see Captain America: Winter Soldier at 2:45 in the Buena Vista Theater. We also had Palo booked for dinner. As much as we enjoy Pirate Night, and we are ones that really enjoy it, the menu in the main dining rooms does not have much variety for vegetarians. Taking a cue from several friends here on the Dis we decided to do Palo tonight. I had booked it at a time where we would still get to see the show and fireworks.

Mom woke up at 8:30 and me at 9:00. We would go to Cabanas for breakfast but first we wanted to do some laundry. Perfect room location again, one of the laundry rooms was right around the corner. Since Cabanas stopped breakfast at 11:30 the previous days we didn’t think there was any rush to get there. Mom went up and got coffee and I got ready for the day. There wasn’t much time left on the laundry so I just figured I’d wait and put it in the dryers before going to find mom. She thought the same thing and came down to the room just as I was going to put the clothes in the dryer. Then up to breakfast.

Somebody was already enjoying the pool

When we got to Cabanas they were closing up breakfast, it was only 10:45. Serves me right for not checking the navigator for the times.

My eyes were really bigger than my stomach. But I was feeling the pressure of them closing up and didn’t want us to go hungry. Not an actual possibility on a cruise but that’s what I was feeling at the moment when I got a huge plate of French toast…

The omelet maker was still more than happy to make mom a fresh mushroom omelet.

We took our time eating, they didn’t have a problem with us still in the restaurant which was nice. We ended up taking the croissant and raspberry donut back to the room. I really got too much food, but can’t bear to waste.

Some pictures of the restaurant

We took the pastries down to the room and chatted with our wonderful CM. He had been concerned about us the night before and made us an extra towel creation this morning.

We had checked on the laundry and one load was still damp. We restarted it and then went to start the Case of the Missing Artwork. It’s quite fun and takes you all over the ship. I took pictures as we went around finding clues

Mom thought this Hermes scarf was gorgeous

It was raining pretty badly but kids were still in the pool watching movies.

Dr. Facillier was the evil villain who stole the artwork. Great fun! We went to check on the laundry and another guest was in there. A sock was on the floor so I picked it up to ask if it was hers, and she snapped ‘that’s mine!’ Well that’s exactly what I was going to ask, I wasn’t going to steal it….

We took the clothes back to the room and then went out to do one more mission before going to the movie. We had to sign up for another case so headed to the kiosk on deck 5.

Hallway near the movie theater

Port adventure desk

We had to wait for the kiosk to be available so I took some photos while waiting. I can not get over how gorgeous this atrium is.

That’s the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique over on the other side.

Have you seen these carpets yet? Sorry if this is a repeat.

Some of the artwork around the ship. This is probably my favorite part in Pinocchio, when he’s walking under the ocean.

At some point we finished the case of the Missing Puppies, the culprit was the Evil Queen. We still had a bit of time before the movie so signed up for the third case, the case of the missing stage props with the Muppets. We were having such fun and it was a perfect day to do this. Raining outside and most people were off the ship so there were no lines.

This looks like a Peter Pan theme

Down to the club area

It was getting close to the movie time so we stopped our game and went to the room to get our sweatshirts. It gets really cold in the theater. We were both glad we had them because it was freezing in there! The movie was really well done, we both enjoyed it. On my list for the cruise was to see Bears, The Muppets 2, Captain America Winter Soldier, and Saving Mr. Banks. Sadly we missed Saving Mr. Banks, there had only been one showing of that for the entire cruise and it didn’t work with other activities. But we saw the others and there were still two more full days of the cruise.

Remind me when your next cruise is. It's coming up soon isn't it?

Its just over two months away. My next ticker.

I missed your update while I was in Vegas. The run in with Minnie was just magical! Its easy to overeat before a big meal especially on the ships. Fran does that a lot in every day life. You really have to watch yourself and have a game plan when so much food is readily available.

The day in Jamaica sounds just great so far. I really like the idea of staying on the ship while everyone else is on the shore. We might do that on our Dream cruise. Your shots of the Fantasy are just great! I can't wait to be on that ship!

The Fantasy really is a beautiful ship. It looks like you made the right decision staying on the ship. The game sounds a lot of fun. I love the towel butterfly.

Finally getting caught up!

Loved the Cozumel and Grand Cayman pics!

How cute, that you ran into Minnie Mouse!

I didn't know the Fantasy made a stop in Jamaica. I might have to look into that in the future.

You got some great pics around the ship!

Playing catch up again!

The cruise looks fun so far! I love the Midship Detective games....I really want to book the Fantasy again so I can play. ;)

After getting all cleaned up I went in search of mom. Have you seen enough hallway and carpet pictures yet? Sorry.

I love the photo's of the hallway floors with the different colors and the stars on the floor that always point you to the forward part of the ship which comes in handy when you can't remember if your going towards the aft or forward:rotfl2: I love the presents you were left with to. I just found some in my carry on bag recently :yay:

What a beautiful ship she is! The atrium oh my why book an excursion there's your eye candy right there! The games looked fun :-) isn't that carpet just the bomb!

I would have had any spare french toast lol..

Good move to book Palo that night believe me it's not just vegetarians that struggle with that menu. It isn't a popular food night with us either! How great you got to watch Winter Soldier. Just watched the first Captain America on Netflix :-)

Oh my it's my dream to own a Hermes scarf! I just adore them. There is a store in London that we visit sometimes and I gaze at the scarfs longingly! One day Jo says lol..

Great update! Thank you :-) Shame about the weather and missing Jamaica but it's only nice to enjoy the ship!

Such a cute picture of you with Minnie!

Love all the pictures of the ship! Just lovely!

The table mates still MIA????

Animators Pallet looks so fun!

You update has me very excited for my cruise in just a couple months. I am all paid up and I made a Palo dinner reservation for the first night? Is that weird? Many of the other time slots were completely full.

I also scheduled the kayak tour on CC for Denny and I. So excited! :cool1:

I love your butterfly towel animal! So cute!

I will have to try that Detective game. I think they have it on the Dream, too, right? Looks like a fun way to spend some time! Maybe on the Nassau day, when the ship is quieter.

The movies ARE always freezing!! The last time I went to the BV Theatre I wore black yoga pants and a hoodie and I was STILL cold!

That is strange that they closed Cabanas early. Was it because the boat was docked?

Love the ship photos. It looks so beautiful!

Have you gotten around to see Saving Mr. Banks yet? It's such a great movie!

Great trip report so far! I was looking for something on the Fantasy as I am hoping to book a 7 day for 2015. We have only done one cruise on DCL and it was a 3 night on the Magic and I am ITCHING to get back! Your review is not helping with that :goodvibes
