A Mother's Day Cruise on the Fantasy sandwiched between BCV (Complete 10/12, p.33)

I've always wondered about those hypnosis shows :confused3 I certainly wouldn't volunteer for one, but would love to watch other people make fools of themselves  I've always thought they were rigged. Who knows?! At least you got a huge laugh.

The lobster macaroni did look rather bland...almost like something straight from the box  But your mom's French onion soup looked outstanding!!!!

I have a friend that volunteered once and she swears she was totally hypnotized. Still, every time I see one I think it's quite unbelievable. Whatever the case it's always super funny.

On this cruise our best meals came from Cabanas. But we really enjoy the camaraderie during dinner. She said the soup was pretty good but strong. One of the best French onion soups she has ever had was at Le Chefs de France. That and the creme brûlée. You like creme brûlée too right?

Great update Pam! Nice photos :-) what a rare score re cruise directors!

Yum dinner looked good. Oh yes the strawberry desert. Yum! Did your ship not have movies on demand? The Dream did I am sure. Maybe only on Dream and Fantasy?

Glad you found the movie channel! The towel creation this night was cute.

ETA: I told mom about Chankanaab and showed her your most recent pictures. That is our plan for next year. We'll also do the manatee swim. I'm very excited :)

You will have a wonderful time at Chankanaab. I have done the manatee interaction in 2012 and enjoyed it, but this was in the sea pens and things can get a bit wild there. For some reason the waves seem bigger in the sea pens then out in the open sea. Have you considered the sea lion interaction? This is in a separate pool.

I absolutely love you black coral jewellery. Thanks for the tip off that this is the gemstone for Hawaii. I may have to check this out in November. The area where you bought your jewellery looks like it may be worth exploring.

What a shame that you did not manage to get to the store that you wanted to go to and did not manage to get a gift pack of the candy.

There seem to be so many medical emergencies on cruises lately. I think we had one on every cruise since our Panama Canal cruise in 2011. What a shame that the cruise ended so early for somebody.

How nice that you got to see Clayton. He was our cruise director on one cruise and assistant cruise director on two others. We really like him.

Corinna

::yes:: :hyper: You remembered! I could eat my weight in that stuff!! :upsidedow I'll order my fair share on the cruise for sure.

That was quite lucky! and the only time I saw them together. I'm glad Clayton suggested the photo.

Yum dinner looked good. Oh yes the strawberry desert. Yum!

That dessert is so good. I get it every time it's on the menu.

Oh yes, they do. I just completely forgot you have to hit a separate button on the remote and couldn't find them. We were on the Fantasy this cruise.

On the Wonder there were several movie channels that continuously played different movies. I wonder how it will be on the Magic :rotfl:

One day I'd like to do the sealion one but mom lit up at the idea of a manatee swim. It is a crime to get near or touch manatees in the U.S. This will probably be our only experience to do this.

That area was originally made as the 'town center' but the area near the docks has become so popular El Cedral has been pushed to the wayside. I think more of the locals go there. It's very pretty. I believe I saw a building that people go to on excursions but I can't remember what it was.

The black coral jewelry is so pretty. Please let us know if you buy any in Hawaii.

What a shame that you did not manage to get to the store that you wanted to go to and did not manage to get a gift pack of the candy.

I was a bit annoyed but it had to be a miscommunication. He was trying so hard to find those candies. The plan for next year is after we've had our fill of Chankanaab we'll ask a taxi driver to take us to Los Cincos Soles and then walk back to the ship after shopping.

There seem to be so many medical emergencies on cruises lately. I think we had one on every cruise since our Panama Canal cruise in 2011. What a shame that the cruise ended so early for somebody.

That is just so sad. I can't imagine having to cut your vacation short like that.
Not to mention the health aspects but them you have to figure out how to get home.

How nice that you got to see Clayton. He was our cruise director on one cruise and assistant cruise director on two others. We really like him.

I couldn't believe my eyes. They are both so nice. Clayton was on our very first cruise on the Dream and then on our first time on the Fantasy, he seemed quite pleased that I remembered. And now we've had Ray twice also, he was on our first cruise on the Wonder as well.

You must must must go to Les Chefs de France if only for appetizers and dessert. Mom has been all over the world and says that creme brûlée is THE BEST! This sounds familiar, did I already tell you this last year?

Just found your TR yesterday. :wave2:

Got all caught up this morning and what an awesome first few days. I'm hoping to plan a 3-4 night cruise for May next year. I'm already planning two WDW trips for September and January so I haven't brought up the cruise to DBF yet but in due time. :rotfl:

The BC is so gorgeous. It is def on my bucket list of resorts to stay at. Oh my goodness that pizza at Via Napoli looks awesome. So glad I have a reservation for there in September.

The pictures of the Disney ships just amaze me they are so gorgeous!

Remy looked so wonderful. I really want to try Palo brunch when we go.

That's awesome you had someone to take you around Cozumel while you were there.

That family walking up late would have eerked me to no end. I'm usually 15-20 minutes early to everything so I never understand being late. :confused3

I love a good hypnosis show. They always did them during the first few days when we got back to college and they always had me in tears from laughing so much.

What wonderful updates. Look forward to reading more.

Looks like the hypnotist show was fun! I wouldn't ever do it myself but it's fun to watch other people.

How cool that you saw two cruise directors - awesome! :thumbsup2

I just love the animals tucked into their beds. :lovestruc So sweet!

Probably because lots of people take off around New Years. I looked and the flight going down is good but coming back is outrageous!

Have you figured out which days you'll be down yet or are you still playing around with the dates?:)

That jewelry is so pretty!

I love that all those treats from the Cove Cafe are included.

Wow, the people taking their time. Cause the ship doesn't have an itinerary to stick to:rolleyes:

The hyptontist shows are SO fun! I think it would be funny if DH went up there. Oh the things i imagine he would do:lmao: I think it would be fun to do it to personally, but i'd be nervous and kind of scared.

About the mickey mouse show. Is it kind of a short show, lasting between 3-5 minutes per show? There is a Mickey show on one of the Disney channels (the one for older kids I think) that is pretty funny and DS loves the animation (it's not like classic animation, but looks a little darker if that makes sense - like it's a little strange) Wonder if it's the same one that you saw?

Mac and cheese without enough cheese is a big problem.

Love that he tucked the stuffed animals in!

I was going to wait until SW puts out the rest of January to see how flights will be.

I also need to ask my boss to make sure I get two days off in a row.

Welcome! And thanks for reading :)

Via Napoli has quickly become one of our favorites on property. We were going to skip it in December, per mom, and then she asked if we could still make a reservation popcorn::

I hope you can book your cruise. May is a gorgeous time to go.

We didnt do Palo brunch this time but it is fabulous.

Those late people were just bizarre. Like they had all the time in the world...

I love a hypnotist show, every one I've seen is hilarious!

Thats exactly my thought. I'll never do it but I love seeing what others will do.

It was a real treat to see Ray and Clayton together. They're both such nice guys.

Those animals were too cute. :)

Thank you! :)

I love that all those treats from the Cove Cafe are included.

Not that we ever needed any more food but those treats are quite delicious!

Wow, the people taking their time. Cause the ship doesn't have an itinerary to stick to:rolleyes:

It was so bizarre. There was a bunch of us watching them and some even tried to yell at them to hurry up, but I'm sure they couldnt hear. Not that it would have helped anyway

The hyptontist shows are SO fun! I think it would be funny if DH went up there. Oh the things i imagine he would do:lmao: I think it would be fun to do it to personally, but i'd be nervous and kind of scared.

I'd be worried that it woukdnt work and I'd be turned away, and that it would work and I'd make a fool of myself :rotfl:

If DH ever does one please get a video!

I think thats exactly the show. I never gave it more than a few minutes because it was so weird. I kept saying 'what in the world is this? Mickey doesn't act like this...'

Mac and cheese without enough cheese is a big problem.

Indeed. :guilty:

Love that he tucked the stuffed animals in!

They were so cute. He was a great steward.

That's right I forgot about the rest of January:lmao: I'm so focused on getting there I forgot that i'll have to make a return flight home! :rotfl2:

I'd be worried that it woukdnt work and I'd be turned away, and that it would work and I'd make a fool of myself :rotfl:

If DH ever does one please get a video!

Oh most definitely! He's already pretty funny in a 'normal' state, I couldn't imagine how he would be hypnotized!

I think thats exactly the show. I never gave it more than a few minutes because it was so weird. I kept saying 'what in the world is this? Mickey doesn't act like this...'

That's what I thought the very first time I saw it! I thought it was kind of dark/goth like but it had come on after one of his shows when he was younger and he was just laughing at it the whole time. Now he can't get enough of them! We have 22 episodes on our DVR right now:rolleyes2

Day 5: Grand Cayman

Today our port would be Grand Cayman. We wouldn’t be arriving until 11:30 so we didn’t set any alarms. Mom had wanted to go to the Royal Court for breakfast. I woke up at 8:14 and mom was still fast asleep. I wrote in the journal until about 8:45 when mom finally stirred. I asked her if she still wanted to go to breakfast and that woke her up. We quickly headed down to the restaurant.

Breakfast was pretty slow but we weren’t in any rush. Mom asked for me to fill my coffee cup so she could have two cups. These were more like teacups.

Mom had the mango mountain hike, she loves this yogurt

I got lazy really quick and took pictures of the entire table instead of individual dishes…

We got some pastries

And we each had a cheese and mushroom omlette

And then we each had the French toast and fruit. This was amazing!

We were stuffed to the gills!

I totally failed in my restaurant pictures the night before so I tried to remedy that.

I loved all the artwork everywhere

Mom was waiting for me

Beautiful marble flooring at the entrance of the restuarant
