After reading about ME on the Transportation board , Uncleromulus is now thoroughly confused.
Here is the situation. We are using our points for a Grand Villa at OKW in Oct. Tho we are driving, our "guests" are flying via SW out of Baltimore.
The question is--are our "guests" eligible for ME? And if so, how do I (or they?) make arrangements? Thru member services? Thru SW??
All help cheerfully appreciated!!

I'm sure your guests will be able to take advantage of ME, though everything will probably be mailed to your house and you'd have to forward it to them. Just call MS to have it set up, make sure you have your guests flight information.

I have guest and everyone is in different flights, so it is therefore not different than if some were driving. When you book ME, you don't have to book for the entire room (although they have to be on your resevation). You will provide arrival information for each guest. That is what I did.

Does anyone know how long ME is going to last? It's only for the 50th Celebration right? I'm going during Presidents week next year and wondering if it will still be an option. Thanks for any info.

Presently, DME is scheduled to last thru 2006 (the 50th Celebration).

No word yet on any extension, but it would seem logical (at least to me) to continue the service (even if at a fee) after all the expense and coordination of setting it up.

my understanding is as long as they are on the ressie they are eligable. not on reservation not eligable. good luck and good trip.

Don't mean to bust in on someone elses post but could use some help on the same question. We check in on Oct5 OKW studio then move to 2 bdr with son and family arriving Oct 8. Do we book us and then them separate(differnt res #) and do I use regular MS or call DVC MS and when do I call and give them the info on flights(we come from MHT they come from Ohio). Thank you for any help. Carol :earsgirl:

I actually just set up DME today and I called DVC member services. I however doubt I will let them pick up my luggage. too much of a control freak/worrier for that nonsense!

We had the same situation in June. We had 2-2 bedroom villas and we drove and all of our guests flew in via Southwest. I simply called MS and gave them everyones flight information. I was told all DME stuff would be mailed to me however I never received anything. I made stickers for everyone's luggage and it arrived in the room 2 hours after they did. Everyone was very pleased with DME.

Thanks for the info....how far in advance did you give them MS the flight info(don't think my son has his reservations yet?????) And the tags went right to your guests or they never got them? Carol :earsgirl:

They send them 21 days out. So i would reccomend calling before then.

I called and gave MS the flight info. about 2 months in advance. No one in our group received any tags. I called DME several times and everytime they assured me that they had the correct flight information and confirmed my mailing address.

Thanks to all for the response.
I'm getting the idea that this whole ME thing isn't operating like a well-oiled machine.
I'm suggesting to my guests that they should just use Mears. If they insist on ME, I'll post a report of how it went (and if Member Services comes thru with tags, etc etc)

Should be interesting in that MS never asked for the names of any of our guests when we made the GV reservation---

Although I"m only stadying in a studio they knew there would be another guest with me in the room, they never asked for his name. They did however ask when I requested DME service.

We are traveling to WDW and staying at BCV on Labor Day weekend. We are also flying SW. I called MS regarding ME and I was told that the luggage transfer only works with certain airlines such as Continental, AA and Delta. SW is not on that list; however, ME will still take your guest and their luggage to the resort. Your guest will have to pick up their own luggage at the airport and bring it to the bus. I was told that the driver will load it for them and take them to their destination (as long as it is on property).

Hope that helps.

I thought I read on some other post that all luggage coming down with tags even SW is delivered to the resort without having to retrieve it but that on the way back you had to take it too the bell desk and get it loaded on the bus and then at the airport get it from the bus and check in yourself. Any one know if that is right/ :earsgirl:
