A man in the women's dressing room...what would you do?

Then again, I've been known to use the men's room if the line for the ladies' is too long...

:rotfl2: I do the same thing. When you gotta go... you gotta go. But I usually take someone with me and make them guard the stall.

It wouldn't have bothered me either. I have actually experienced this before and haven't given it a second thought.

Well Op I'm with you I wouldn't have liked it. I don't think a grown man has any business in a single sex dressing room, same as a bathroom. If it is a designated mixed dressing room well fine you know ahead of time.

If he was with his daughter why couldn't she have stepped out of the dressing room and shown him? If it didn't fit her well enough to do that then I'm sure she wouldn't have been buying it. He could have stood just outside the room where the people who give you the numbers are, he didn't need to be where he could see over the doors.

And grown women have no business going into Mens dressing rooms with sons. If they are old enough to have to use the mens room then they can come out and show you.

I am not trying to cause trouble, just looking for opinions.

I think the surprise of it made me uncomfortable. And I think if I were reading this post, I would feel like it was no big deal, but when I was the half naked woman in the dressing room with a strange man, it was a different story.

Yeah, I have posted about this before. I know at the stores I shop there really isn't much privacy. The dressing room doors are slats, and you can see in them. I am no prude, but still:confused3

It probably would have bothered me, but then again I tend to be overly paranoid. In fact, a few weeks ago I was shopping for polo-type shirts at Kohls. I have a small frame and wear juniors sizes. Couldn't find the type I wanted in juniors and the ones in misses were too big. My DH suggested that I try a young boys large. I went to young boys and found exactly what I wanted but needed to try them on and didn't want to walk downstairs back to the juniors dressing room. So I went into the dressing room in the little girls section. I was paranoid thinking people would see me going there without a child and think I was a pedophile. I wanted to show DH how they fit but was afraid they would think we were both pedophiles if he came too close. So I understand what you mean.

I would only go in the boy's dressing rooms if it were an emergency. They try on their clothes and come out to show me.

I have taken my now 17 year old daughter shopping hundreds of times, and when she is trying on clothes I wait for her outside the dressing rooms and let her step out to show me(if she wants). I would never want another man to walk into the dressing rooms when she is not fully clothed in there, even if he was shopping with a daughter or wife.

I might have let it slide if he was with his daughter, but I actually had the encounter with a man in the dressing room with his wife once. Apparently she couldn't buy a dress without his approval because he wanted to see each and every one she tried on and he needed it modeled for him. This went on about 5 minutes when I finally put on my clothes and went out and found a manager. Totally weird scene. I don't even like men sitting outside the dressing room - I seriously do not understand why anyone would expect their husband to do this. Or why a man would want to do it. My husband would rather eat rusty nails than sit there like a puppy dog waiting for me and could care less what I buy so you'd never catch him there. I get SO annoyed whenever I see a man hovering over the dressing room, unless its a man there with a young daughter. I just can't understand why people who are tied at the hip have to make others uncomfortable. And yes, having a man hover over the dressing room does make me uncomfortable.

I had that happen once in Victorias Secret. I was trying on bras and I heard a male and female voice two "stalls" over from me. It was really creepy!

The guy was commenting on how nice the gf/wife/so looked and there were comments like "You are so fine", "foxy", etc...

I was so creeped out!

It would depend on what the doors looked like on the dressing rooms. If they were "half" doors that basicly just give a bit of privacy I would have had a big problem. I would have gone and gotten a manager. If the doors were full doors; essentially making the dressing rooms actual rooms then I'd not have a problem at all.

if he wasn't even glancing your way, I don't see where it was a problem. He was focused on helping his daughter. He was probably 10 times more uncomfortable than you were.

I would have been startled at first, but then after I saw he was with his young daughter, I wouldn't have been bothered by it anymore :sad2:

I can top your story...at my TJ Maxx, the last huge dressing room has a curtain. Yesterday i was in my shorts and bra when the curtain parted...I say "Excuse me?'' and the young woman walks into the dressing room carrying a baby!!!:scared1:

I stand there, moth agape and again say "EXCUSE ME!!??"

She starts speaking, and I realize she is foreign, possibly Jamacain and asks if I had seen her cell phone...I then pick up all the clothes I had scattere don the bench...tell her "no" and she left.

Wouldn't even bat an eye if it was me but then again I'm not one bit modest. High School drama knocked any modesty out of me.

Last St Patty's day the bar I was at closed the womans bathroom for cleaning before the night was over :confused3 . We were told it was going to take about 15-20 minutes before it would be open again. Next thing they knew we were all going into the mens room, we didn't even care that the men were in there at the same time. We just needed to pee. Manager tried to tell us we couldn't go in there so we told him we would pee on the floor by the bar if he stoped us :rotfl: .

Aww.. I think it's sweet! I love men helping their daughters out. My dad used to help me buy clothes all the time. My mom used to go to college at night when i was growing up and my dad is the one that took me shopping. They always gave us the 1st room so he could do that. Now i don't even think twice about seeing it.

I agree with the OP.. I would NOT like it at all and would have said something... sorry..

You say it like he was IN the fitting room with you, or peeping at you over the door. I really don't understand what the big deal is. But then again, I've gone into the men's dressing rooms or restrooms, or used unisex fitting rooms before. No biggie, unless someone's trying to come into my room.

If it was clear that the man was simply helping his daughter, then I'm not sure why you got so up in arms over it in the first place. :confused3

Anyway, just let it go. If that's the worst thing that happens to you all week, you're doing pretty good. :thumbsup2

This is an honest question, not trying to start an arguement here.

But to this poster and the OP---do you use dressing rooms at stores like Old Navy and Gap that are unisex??

I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Sorry to be weird, but my DH always goes with me when I buy clothes and lately every single chair outside of the fitting rooms are filled with husbands of the women trying on clothes. I Love that DH can tell me the truth in what i am trying on. I do the same for him too. I don't know what the big deal is with that, he's not INSIDE, he's outside giving his opinion, I cannot believe this bothers you. :sad2:
