Does your target cashier/manager give you the stink eye when you go up to them with a pile of GCs?

Mine just did. She skipped 1 card, I tried to tell her but she refuses to listen. So of course the final total didn't match and she had to redo it.

The manager or whatever came over (to figure out why now there's a back up) and pretty much refuses to look at me when she saw what was holding up the line.

Humph...

... End of vent...

Nope and we have enough Targets here that if they did I'd find a different store to bless with my large purchase.

I have very little tolerance for poor customer service.

Lucky you... I just felt dirty afterwards . Like I did something illegal

Nope! Never happened to me. In fact the cashier usually wants to know more about the Target Pharmacy rewards 5% off combo with my Red Card so they can use it.

If target and other store would carry more than a 50.00 GC maybe we wouldn't have to take an entire stack.

The "stink eye"???? That is too funny!!!! I've never heard that expression before.
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
DH buys $10 gift cards at Walmart for employee referrals and he usually gets 10 at a time, some cashiers do get a little snarky!

I would wonder if she was trying to steal it and hope you wouldn't notice one did not go thru. It does not matter how you pay. Maybe next time hand them to the cashier one at a time.

I have this problem at Walmart with coupons. There have been 3 times in the last year I paid with a large coupon. The cashier pretended to scan it and set it beside her cash register instead of in the coupon drawer. The first time I got a few steps away after paying and realized the total was too high...the coupon was not on the receipt. I had to go back to her and she acted innocent even tho the coupon was right there beside the cash register.

So I used to feel badly about things like this. And over the 10 years I've been with my husband he has taught me that I 'let' people make me feel this way.

To him, it's a mind control game. He wouldn't feel bad because he KNOWS he didn't do anything bad. The way you were treated says something about THEM not you.

It's taken me years of him asking me "Did you do something illegal? No? Oh THEY treated you badly? Who is at fault here?"

It's empowering to take back the way you feel. ::yes::

Darn right GAGirl!
I will stop feeling bad now.
Actually I didn't feel that badly until they started whispering while I was right there waiting for the receipt to print.

Who knows maybe they're talking about taking a bathroom break or something... :rotfl: ... And I was just being paranoid.

See? Come up with a silly reason they were whispering. :)

it would also allow AP to be bought online and added to your MB account..

Disney are you listening!~!!!!!!!!!

I think that maybe since you are not comfortable purchasing the cards that you are "seeing" attitude that is not there. The cashiers do not care what you buy they get paid the same no matter what. Giftcards are also very easy for them to scan because you do not have to fumble with the bags.

If there really was attitude maybe it was that they were thinking wow I wish I had the money to buy these.

I did however notice a sigh at Wegmans (no discount there that I know of) that giftcard purchases over $1000 had to be made at the service desk.

I think it is just the whole getting a discount concept.

Coupons and discounts are dreamed up by companies to attract business. Then the bottom end has to process the sale adding a little time to the transaction, and making you feel as if you are ????? dirty? cheap? scamming? You are not doing any of this. I think if you brought up 30 loaves of bread with 30 coupons they would probably be the same way - they need behavior mods not you.

I think that these companies need to train their employees to thank you for paying attention to their advertising and coming and buying their product.

(I am not referring to extreme couponing here.)

But maybe, when someone comes to the cashier with 30 gift cards and their redcard and pharmacy 5%, they start looking at it like it is extreme. Personally I don't see this as extreme myself, but I was waiting for Target to shut the door on some of the discount and they have. The black Friday deal was closed to the gift cards and now the $10 of $100 coupons that sometimes pop out won't work. Plus the Xmas deal from past years did not show this Xmas.

And, on the other end - redeeming the cards through Disney - I don't think Disney should have a leg to stand on with their rules for redemption - ie only taking two or 5 or whatever number over the phone or online. They sold them to the stores to sell to us to use on their product - they are Disney money - they can't take your money for them and then change the rules for them.

Target has so many discount options out there. Their staff should not be looking at you in a negative fashion as you hand them your coupons printed from target.com, have them scan your shop kick app, have them scan your Cartwheel app, use your pharmacy rewards, and then use your Target debit card. They seem to be encouraging all these discounts, so the staff should embrace them!

This statement confuses me. I thought if you called in you could use multiple gift cards. Ie: enough to pay off your balance no matter what it is.

With the credit card scandal that just happened, they should be thankful that you're in their store at all! Seriously! :)

I agree with digimom, I used to work for target and they have a timer on the register, that way they can tell if the cashier is doing things fast enough. not an excuse just a fact there. that being said I also do not like to shop at any of the three targets in my area. whenever you are using a discount or coupon they act like it is coming out of their personal wallet or something.
also have had this happen at a Kroger/ralphs. the checker looked up my coupon and called the manager over who used her phone to check to see if it was ok, then she said for all to hear, "wow it isn't on the fraud list" I was so embarrassed she was a total jerk. the thing is I had like a 60.00 order and she acted like I was trying to scam them with my one and only coupon for 2 bucks

I'd have grabbed the coupon out of her hand and walked out without buying anything. Really. I've done that before - had a LOT of items that have already been rung up and being bagged and had an attitude at the register. I just looked at the cashier and said - forget it - YOU put these items back. Then spoke to a manager. Then walked out without buying. My husband works hard for our money - I won't put up with being treated bad...people do not have to be polite, but they absolutely better not be rude or disrespectful...
