Hopefully I'll find out that the woman at the Cirque du Soleil box office was uninformed, but we'll see. I was looking at the DIS boards, and saw the update on 8/15 about Florida resident discounts for September and October (specifically $40 off the regular rate of $79-$94). I called the number listed and was holding for a representative for almost 25 minutes. Finally a woman came on and when I asked about the Florida rate, she stated they currently had no discounts posted like that. I told her exactly where I found it and read it verbatim. She still insisted that it did not exist. If anyone knows why this may have happened, please give me some information about it. Thanks!

it may have only been a valid discount for certain dates or only good to book during a certain time frame.

some special rates may only be valid for booking during a short time frame..like a weekend special

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately she had never heard of this offer, and it was posted 9 days ago. And it's still on the boards! At least take it down if it's no longer valid.

Link?

When you go to www.wdwinfo.com, the DIS updates are right in the middle. Scroll to 8/15 and there is the link. Maybe I'm crazy and just reading it wrong. But I don't think so. :)

It does state at the box office, but it also says call this number (the box office) for more information. You would think when I call that number they would have some idea of that posting.

It says to call for info -- and that you have to show ID at time of purchase... Presumably at the box office.

Call 407-WDW-SEAT for more information. A valid Florida ID must be shown at time of purchase.

ETA: not unusual, unfortunately, for a given CM not to know about something... A bit of "luck of the draw"... something I thankfully learned years ago on DIS.

Let me get this straight:

Some person you don't know posted a tip on the internet that possibly could have saved you money

It didn't work

It might have worked had you called the day it was posted rather than nine days later

And you're mad at a bunch of other people because you didn't get a discount

Because random people on the internet are responsible for your vacation details? :confused3

OK. Duly noted.

Florida residents save up to $40!

Discounted tickets are available at the box office for Florida residents in September and October. Florida residents can save $40 off of the regular adult price of $74-$94. Offer does not apply to children's tickets.

Call 407-WDW-SEAT for more information.

A valid Florida ID must be shown at time of purchase. <------- That right there should tell you the discount can't be applied to tickets purchased anywhere but at Cirque

This!

Dang, chill out. It's 25 minutes, that's not something to get mad at a bunch of strangers for.

I wish anyone luck who has to stand in front of you in any standby lines during your visit.

OP I think folks here have given you a clear response regarding checking the detail and that this offer has to be redeemed in person at the box office :thumbsup2

Geesh! I post something on here just to get some information and I get slammed! Before more of you get angry, that last sentence included sarcasm and humor. I know it stated that valid Id was needed at time of purchase, but my original post was mainly questioning why the box office had no idea about the discount. I just wanted some information before I possibly drove a couple hours for the show. And I did also call the number that the previous poster told me to use, and got the same unknowing response. Thank you for all the responses from the individuals actually trying to help me out. :)

And to the previous poster, I would still be pleasant to you in line. It's Disney World after all! :D

Did you try calling back for a different CM? I have had to do that as some "couldn't" do my discount and the other was able to.

I think people are angry because you really just lost an episode o "Big Bang" after calling 9 days later took one CMs word and ended it.

The title of your post does not insinuate that you are looking for information, it gives us the impression that you are blaming everyone on the boards for the fact that you did not get the discount. If Disboards is such a waste of time, then why are you still here?

It's not uncommon for some Disney CMs to be misinformed or not aware of all information. I doubt that anyone on these boards made up the discount information out of thin air. I would call back and try talking to someone else, or try at the box office.

To the OP-- truly, your title is one that will immediately set readers on their heels because it totally comes across as a rant against DISboards in general.
Many of us here find DISboards to be endlessly helpful and so you cannot blame readers for feeling somewhat "defensive" of this forum.
