A little help...how did you meet your DIS Partner?

I found the right woman and took her to Disneyland. I think it was about our third date. I showed her the magic and she was hooked.

I am also looking for a fellow disney lover. Most people just don't get it. Until then though I will continue to travel with my wonderful sister to WDW. Thanks for mentioning facebook group. I will give it a try

My friend and I are training for the f&w 2013 marathon. yes I know long time away but I'll already be in dis sept 2012. Unlike some - we may be the last to finish though - as long as theres food left!

to Disney World and basically ran her butt everywhere at break neck speed. She hadn't been there for 30 years and I wanted her to see it all in five days. I spoiled her bye getting a one bedroom at Old Key West with the jaccuzi tub and took her to all the romantic restaurants.

That pretty much sealed the deal...we have been back a minimum of 2 trips each year since and she has become a Tinkerbeel addict!

I know how you feel. NOONE seems to get my Disney obsession...except my mom...LOL!

Ha ha! My mom is the one I owe my Disneyness to, but even she thinks I go too much! :rotfl:

Everyone keeps telling me I am crazy for getting so excited about it and I need to grow up. Guess I'll try out some of these threads.

Pssh. I love how people say "grow up" when they find out you love Disney. Everyone has stuff that they're into. I personally believe that people who truly appreciate Disney just have better imaginations than those who don't. For the most part, anyway.

Indeed. Everyone has their own interests from their youth, like football. We like Disney. It is okay.

I love both!

I'm still waiting on finding my Prince Charming :) People don't understand how Disney is such a huge part of my life, that it's in my DNA.

I tell people the same thing. My first official Disney trip was in my mom's tummy. :p

Next solo trip I think will be the Tower of Terror 10-milers (my first Disney race!!! EEK)! :cool1:

Hey Lynn! Did you get to go to that CoP event? If not, it was so cool! And good luck on the race. I did the ToT13k in 2009, and it was very fun.

The Disney races are awesome and everyone is so nice and helpful!! Have fun!!

I agree. Disney races are by far the most fun for me.

My friend and I are training for the f&w 2013 marathon. yes I know long time away but I'll already be in dis sept 2012. Unlike some - we may be the last to finish though - as long as theres food left!

If you're going to WDW in late September 2012, you should consider doing the Tower of Terror 10 miler! But the Wine and Dine race is also really fun. They made huge improvements in the 2011 race over the 2010 inaugural.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask...but why not..I'm a 31 year old guy and it seems that lately the women I've dated don't understand why I like Disney so much, or think it's cute but aren't into going there.

Obviously I'd like to find a partner who shares my love for Disney, so my question to all of you is, how did you meet your Disney loving partner??

I figure maybe hearing some of your stories will give me new ideas of where to meet a Disney loving woman!!

A nice girl with the screen name mdhkitten started a singles thread. Alacrity was a friend on that thread. About 20 of us chatted off and on the Thread and in Dismates. At least 5 Weddings came out of that Thread. We met in person for the first time at the Magical Express Desk in MCO, had Ghirardellis for our first meal together, met 20 of the Chat Members later that year to run MK EMH, dated at Disney (He was in Illinois, I was in Texas),got engaged in AK, got married at the Wedding Pavilion 10/10/2007. Don't be afraid of Long Distance Relationships. Everything happens for a Reason! Look for new Disney FRIENDS....the rest will fall into place.

I love your fairytale! Gives me hope that I'll find my "Disney Loving" prince eventually. Congratulations!

The story is pretty magical. Everything fell into place for moving 1100 miles, leaving my old life and starting a new one.

But let's talk about you....You WILL meet yours...ya know...Long Island (OP) is not that far from NJ. Ya'll should talk! I would ask how old you were, but one of our couples has a 22 year age difference and they are doing fine. The 3 couples that got married within a year...had one person move 1400, 1100 (me) and 835 miles to be together. It can work! Marry your best friend.

Hi,

I'm afraid of long-distance relationships. ;-)

Jim

Don't be afraid of them, just be aware they take more work than a local relationship.

I have been involved in a couple of long distance relationships with Disney Princessrs. And when we realized that one of us moving to join the other wasn't possible the relationships ended and we moved on to other relationships. But I am still open to getting to know the right Disney Princess on a long distance basis initially.

Of course, now that I have recently moved to Florida, I doubt I will be moving again unless it is closer to WDW in Florida.

Seems to be harder to find a Disney-loving Prince as opposed to a Princess.... but then again that could be my point of view. lol.

It always seems to happen that the guys I find interesting or a connection with always live REALLY far away :headache:

I'm afraid that I'm not any help either. I was hoping that my now-ex-boyfriend would at least be open to Food & Wine, but we didn't get around to it. There was always an excuse for why he didn't want to go.

As my dad likes to tell me, when you love someone, you take an interest in what they're interested in BECAUSE you love them. That even if something isn't your first choice, you can find enjoyment in participating because you can see them enjoy it.

I guess I thought I had that and really didn't, but that's a topic that goes off on an unnecessary tangent.

But in regards to Disney running, I'm considering training for the ToT 10 miler as a means of distracting me from my current situation. I ran track through college, but had to give it up after a couple bouts with stress fractures in my shins, so I'll have to see if my body will allow me to run again!

Thank you so much for the kind words & advice....I'm keeping my fingers crossed & my eyes (& heart) open!!

Abbeybeth - you should def. train for the ToT 10 miler! I just finished the marathon and it was a lot of fun..I also finished 10th which was also fun..haha. I actually coached college track for four years, and had kids deal with shin splints, just take it slow and you should be OK, your shins will let you know when you've over done it!

There was another poster who mentioned trianing for the Wine and Dine now..it's never too early to train!! I might go overboard and do the ToT 10 miler, Wine and Dine and the Marathon next year..haha..I'm def. doing the last two.

As for finding your Disney Prince or Princess...still looking for mine :) I don't know if it's easier to find a Disney loving woman...I just think woman are more open about it because it's accepted that women like princess and Disney. Men who like Disney aren't seen as very manly...LOL. But who cares!!

Maybe once spring rolls around I'll look at running again. Running in snow, ice and general winter-ness is less than appealing to me. I'm a competitive dancer so even though it's different muscles, there is still a high level of fitness established, so if my shins have healed enough to handle the training it could be fun. ToT is my fave ride, so the theming of the event interests me.

I don't know how much Disney-appreciation can be attributed to the male/female attribute. I think it's more of a component of personality and one's ability to give in to their imagination and acknowlege the value of new experiences and letting lose and allowing themselves to have fun. Who knows .... certainly not me...

ToT is one of my favorite rides, too, so the theming caught my attention. Plus the fact that it's a night race (I work night shift, so the thought of waking up super early for a race doesn't really appeal to me).

I have never run anything over a 5K, and that was back in high school (over 10 years ago). I am not a runner, but I am pretty interested in this race. Just don't know how I would fit in training with my work & school schedule. I'll be thinking more about it and have even put the date in my calendar.

There is a thread about this race over here, if you are interested. :)

disneyrunner79, whoa - 10th place!! Congratulations!

And I agree what you said about finding your Disney Prince or Princess!

Hey there Altoqueen. . .long time no see. . .Hope all is good with you.

In response to the thread. . .

Believe it or not, I met my Disney loving guy on Match.com. I just didn't know he was Disney-loving when I met him. Our first date was in Epcot. It was awesome. He owns an annual pass now and we are perfectly happy. He endures my obsession, and I tolerate his general like. We are in perfect harmony.

Tony, I love you. . .
