A LINE for the mailbox?

Went to drop off some bills at the big post office here in NYC...I was confused about why there was a LINE to just drop off letters in the slot...then I realized the guy at the slot was putting in a stack of letters ONE AT A TIME while a line is forming behind him!! Everyone was looking at each other rolling their eyes and then finally a woman just walked up next to him and put her letters in. We all followed as he stood there doing his ONE BY ONE.

Maybe he was checking to make sure there was a stamp on each one.

I would probably have done the same thing you did.

If my father were still alive, I'd think you were talking about him. He said to always put the letters in one by one, then check to make sure it went down before putting the next one in. Going to the PO was a field trip.

Very "me" -- "Oh, I didn't know people were waiting for me?" -- HELLO. Get a clue.

My first thought here is high functioning autism. I am not going to be preachy at all, but something is just not "right" about that behavior. I worked with high functioning adults with autism who were able to live on their own with some supervision and one of my guys would have done that for sure!

I go in that post office all the time....there are lots of people who do that all the time!
