A Jolly Holiday with Masseys: THE TRIP REPORT - WDW Dec2019

I really need to spend more time in AK on our next trip. We’ve been quite a few times but your photos are showing me just how much I don’t know! Love the photos of Denis and JP. They clearly have an awesome bond:goodvibes

I hope you get back there soon. I think these pictures of them on this trip are some of my favorites of them.:goodvibes. I still can't get over him wanting to sleep with Dennis.

I've been off the TRs for a bit but I'm back and all caught up!

Welcome back Kelly! Glad you back with us. Did you start your October trip report yet?

Love your AK pictures…they're really making me miss being there so much! Tusker House has been one of our favorites for years, I hope they reopen soon!

Thank you! There are so many places I miss. I keep reading to see what new place or attraction has opened back up. The list of closed is very long.

So like mom said, she had ridden this on OPENING DAY (you know, when I was home with a newborn and mastitis, and I had Gia that week, too, but Jimmy was back at work and my mom WAS IN DISNEYWORLD…. #stillbitter).

I will never live this down.

(spoiler alert: he rode is September 2020... TWICE),

I'm still shocked he did this.

If you haven’t noticed, I’m one of those daughters that like to hang out with my mom as an adult. So it was fun to have some us time, too! Had to commemorate the moment with a selfie, DUH.

And I love being the Mom who has daughters that like to hang out with me! I have the coolest kids.

IT WAS INCREDIBLE.

I was so happy you enjoyed it so much. I think on this ride I was more into your enjoyment than mine. I loved hearing you squeal with delight.

Being a Mom I have spent lots of time doing just this while waiting for one or more of my kids,
::yes::
luckily AK gives me lots of distractions while I wait.
Also ::yes::
So much to see everywhere.
Oh, I know. So easy to see something new every time.
Michelle covered that for me. I bought one of these in 2009 and replace every other trip since the elastic holder gets stretched out pretty quickly. This is the only place I wear them. I got tired of taking my sunglasses on and off and hunting for them in my bag.
I can't do that. My sunglasses are prescription. So I'm wearing one or the other. Can't have them both on a frat strap. I'd be constantly fighting with tangles.
Michelle is a much better photographer than I. She really does a great job of capturing the moment. Ask her about her Grinch pictures.
Okay.
I wish that still worked. He's much heavier now.
Get a forklift.

I'm here to solve your problems.

The new foottap is the text message. And my mom doesn't wait until you're "late" to start sending them. :rotfl2:

Seriously, this trip was all about them! Dad came up with this idea well over a year prior. and HE wanted to take JP, even if it was without me. And HE really showed up this trip. He was definitely our knight in shinning armour.
Hey @mFont23
I'm asking about your Grinch pictures.
So Gia's mom asked me to take some pictures of them for their christmas card. She just had a baby and didn't want to spend money on professional ones when you don't really like the way you look at that point. I was like oh, let's make it fun! I'll set up a cute little scene. Then it hit me to ask a friend at the school office to borrow her Grinch costume. Jimmy was ALL ABOUT IT. I posted it on Facebook, and then we ended up spending almost 2 weeks taking pictures of families with the Grinch. Most of the kids were surprised. One family had older kids, so we made it fun and there were pictures of them fighting over toilet paper with the Grinch, and the teenage girl was taking selfies with him and stuff. It was a LOT of fun. But the best was Jimmy. He was the "talent".
I've always enjoyed taking pictures, and with the new baby I got to play around with that, too.

My sunglasses are prescription too. I have them on the strap and my regular glasses in the bag. I leave the sunglasses hanging and put on the regular glasses when I need them.

ohhhhh... okay, maybe that's do-able then. Hmm.... I'd have to think on that.

I had a 9 month old, I didn’t care about my own happiness, I just wanted to be stuck to my baby at every moment.
Ha! Also sounds about right!

**remember those things, fastpasses?**
Man, I really hope fastpasses come back. I know everyone keeps saying that lines are shorter without them, but I don't care, I want them to come back!

When you’re not even like, “LET’S DO IT AGAIN” but more-so in awe, like, “WOW”.
Glad to hear it is still amazing after a long wait!!

I literally just sent Gia a picture of Lilo and Stitch (her favorite) and it says "Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. Unless we're late for a fastpass, then BYE SUCKER."

I think I miss that part of the planning and the assurance that we would ride something special. The crowds are low NOW but once things pick up more a year or two from now, fastpasses will need to be a necessity.

Post FOP, More AK DAY!
I’m really not sure what Dad and Danielle did with JP while we had our go on FOP. But it looks like Dad went and took a bunch of scenic pics around Pandora. They were getting hungry, so once we finished up, we decided on some grub from pizzafari. JP was still asleep and I still hadn’t gotten hungry. I took the stroller and setup shop at a table while they ordered. Mom’ll have to tell you what they ate. We looked at receipts, and it looks like we went back for a coke and a Lion King Cupcake. I’m pretty sure that’s because JP woke up during this time. And we wanted him alive and happy before our fastpass for Festival of the Lion King.
So… sidenote… I AM SO EXCITED they’re making their way back into the park this summer. The show is amazing!! It makes me so happy to think that entertainment will be making a comeback. It’s like a small glimpse of hope is all the sadness in the world.
Full bellies, we made the trek back to Africa for Lion King. JP had never seen this show. When he was a baby in 2018, he would fall asleep anytime we got in a dark place. So as soon as we walked into the theatre that year, he fell asleep and stayed asleep the entire show. So this was really his first time. He was still a little tired going into it.

Then we were on to the SAFARIIII!!!! Personal favorite.
So when we were kids, Brent loved video games. Brent still loves video games. But I never got into it. There was one game I liked, silly as it was, called Pokemon Snap. Each level you’re on a ride (like a safari) and pokemon pass you and you take pictures of them and get points based on the size, frame, all of that. So the Safari is basically real like Pokemon Snap for me. So we always take some of the saaaaame pictures. You know, just hoping for more points? HAHA

John Paul loves hippos for some reason. He still talks about the ONE hippo you see in small world. And when we went in September 2020, it had, like crazy eyes. Only one opened and it turned. It was kind of hilarious. But yeah it made him love hippos more. He is his own little person.

Even the dang hyenas were on the prowl this day. SO awesome we got to show all of this to JP.
Has anyone watched some of the AK shows on Disney+? They’re pretty fascinating.

I’m really not sure what Dad and Danielle did with JP while we had our go on FOP.
Teased him mercilessly and made him cry.

No?
Mom’ll have to tell you what they ate.
Hopefully something edible.
I could be wrong.
And we wanted him alive and happy before our fastpass for Festival of the Lion King.
well.... yeah. Bringing him not alive or sad wouldn't be as good.
So… sidenote… I AM SO EXCITED they’re making their way back into the park this summer. The show is amazing!! It makes me so happy to think that entertainment will be making a comeback.
I sure hope that they're able to bring back more and more shows as time goes by.
When he was a baby in 2018, he would fall asleep anytime we got in a dark place.
Not a bad thing! If you were tired, you could get a break by doing that.
I feel ya, JP... I feel ya.
I think he was just in awe of it all.

Yes! ::yes::

Never played it. But... Can see the resemblance. :)

That's what everyone's doing. Going for points!
Awwww.... what a great shot. :)
Noooo!!! Don't throw him overboard!
John Paul loves hippos for some reason.
Of course. What's not to love???
He still talks about the ONE hippo you see in small world.
Ah yes. Drunk hippo.
