A joint Liberal/Conservative thread. NO DEBATES!!

Hey, should we strike up a group chorus of Kumbaya or is that too religous for you heathens??? ;)

:rotfl2:
Hey, as long as it's not required and not being financed with public money, the ACLU need not know....... :thumbsup2

Although just to warn you, I'm pretty sure the literal english translation of the japanese word "Karaoke" is..."For the sake of the windows and glassware, don't hand Mugg Mann the mike"

Hey, we can always sing "It's a Small World". . . .that ought to work!

I can never think of that song or ride without thinking of the person who wrote a published letter in the Unofficial Guide to WDW saying that Small World would be the best ride anywhere if they handed each rider five softballs on the way in......

We love the Osbourne lights. It's just not Christmas without seeing them.

The day we did the 4 park thing was Jan. 13th and the lights were still on the buildings. Of course they weren't lit, but it just looked so amazing. I can't wait to see them turned on. We did see a few decorations that day, as they were still taking them down. It just whetted my appetite for more.

Oh that is the funniest thing. . . I love that ride, though. It was being refurbished the last time we went, so I haven't been on it for about 5 years. My 14 year old loves it, too. We were all teary-eyed last time we were on it. I know, I know. . . .

I mentioned that very comment from the book to the CM ride operator last year and she cracked up laughing! :lmao:

I have a special spot in my memory for that place. Along with the creatures from my childhood nightmares.

A few years ago (with my ex and her family) while on that ride it stopped. But the music didn't. We were in there a good 1/2 hour longer than normal. My exFIL and I reached into the water and pulled our boat along to get out. The people in front of us were clueless. I HAD to get OUT! We pulled ourselves along until we bumped into their boat. We proceeded to pull both boats along until we reached the exit ramp.

With total seriousness, I've often wondered if the softball idea was the driving force behind the Buzz Lightyear ride? You gotta think that the powers-that-be at WDW pore over every word in the Unofficial guide....

Wow...you have my total sympathies!

I don't even think we're allowed to do that to prisoners on death row due to human rights violations! :rotfl2:

Yeah, well, being stuck in those boats at the end is no fun. But, I really do love that ride!

So, John, you really don't go on that ride anymore when you're there?

Not unless someone is holding a gun to my head!

I was out and about today and saw this bumper sticker and I'm embarrassed to say...I didn't get it. Can you explain it to me?

Why would that annoy a liberal? Isn't that what everyone, regardless of party affiliation strives for?

I seriously just did.not.get.it. :confused3

Am I missing something?

There is nothing like staying onsite. Trust me, you will never want to go back to offsite again. You really do feel the magic. You're all going to love it!

I'll second this one! My first trip was offsite when I was a teenager. While it was fun, the magic just wasn't there like it was when as an adult I stayed on site. Jus knowing you don't have to leave, just knowing you are surrounded by it all. :cloud9: We could stay at SOG, but since dh's very first trip ever was at the CR, he won't even try it. He says he would rather go every 2 or 3 years and stay on the monorail and be in a Disney resort than SOG. I would be willing to try it, but he's hooked!

Also, thanks Charade! This is a great idea. I am so glad I get to "see" the real people, and not just the politics side of them.

So, I take it we're not going to say goodnight with a chorus of that song then. . . guess we'll have to think of another one.

But, my dh is calling me to watch Sherlock Holmes. That's the only thing he ever watches (besides news). Jeremy Brett was amazing.

I thnk they meant, if you work hard to annoy a liberal and succeed at it, you'll be happy.

I was always afraid to do the solo thing, but I really think I might like it. Shhhh! (just checking over my shoulder ;) ). What were the biggest drawbacks for you?

I take both solo and travel buddy (usually my Mom, BF wants to wait until there are kiddies to take  ) trips to WDW almost every year. The biggest drawback for me on the solo trips is food. I don't like eating at table service places by myself. So, on solo's I only eat counter service. I get a lot more done in a short time, but at the expense of nutrition and good taste!

You'll love being on-site, Kendra. Mrs. Mugg and the Muggette will not stay off-site no matter what. One time (at band camp :teeth: ) I found a $49 suite off-site that was the same distance from Epcot as the All-Stars, and they made me cancel the reservation and pay more than twice as much for a lesser room just to stay on site.

If you had stayed at that off-site suite then you would have missed out on the three biggest perks of staying on-site.

1. Pool Hopping, a must!

2. Re-using refillable mugs from previous trips. Don't leave home without it!

3. Hooking up a crock pot and cooking a marinated pot roast while you, Mrs Mugg, and the Muggette are at the parks. You have to use lots of seasoning or at least a full clove of garlic. :teeth:

That's one of the main perks of staying on-site, don't you know? :stir:
