We are taking a cruise in Nov. and are planning on one day at WDW to see all the Christmas decorations. Do you think we can see all the parks in one day? How do they look in the daylight? I figure we will have to do AK first, than maybe MGM, gotta see the Osborne lights, probably EPCOT than end the day at the MK, cause I think it will be the last to close. How's that sound?

All the parks in one day can be tough. Not as easy as it sounds. The parks are nice in the daytime but the night is where they really shine at Christmas!

I was always afraid to do the solo thing, but I really think I might like it. Shhhh! (just checking over my shoulder ). What were the biggest drawbacks for you?

We're going Sept 23. . . but my husband might be offered a new job and he's concerned that that might interfere. I can't imagine that being an issue. It better not be, because we really need that WDW trip!

You'll love being on-site, Kendra. Mrs. Mugg and the Muggette will not stay off-site no matter what. One time (at band camp ) I found a $49 suite off-site that was the same distance from Epcot as the All-Stars, and they made me cancel the reservation and pay more than twice as much for a lesser room just to stay on site.

Do they start the Christmas decorations in November? I always thought they waited till December to put them up.

Once upon a time they used to go up overnight at Thanksgiving. Now they start putting them up a little earlier than that and by Thanksgiving I think they're all up.

We've been a few times during the holiday season and it really is magical!

They usually start late Nov. We're going to be there from the 11th to the 19th and the first two MVMCP are that week so I would think they'll at least start the decorations. I hope so!!

We made reservations before the free dining, but were able to get the free dining. I kind of am concerned that it will be more crowded than we originally hoped for, but oh well. . .

Sigh. I guess Disney shouldn't be any different than anyone else. I hate that, but it does allow more people time to enjoy them, I suppose. One holiday season I will make a pilgrimage to see those lights!

I know there are better deals outside Disney and I know there are nicer properties with better amenities but durnit, it's just not Disney unless you're onsite. For us anyway. No offense to those that stay offsite.

I've done 4 parks in one day. It was hard and I was alone! I did rope drop at MK rode the train and then Space Mountain. I hopped the monorail over the EPCOT and rode SSE and TT. Hopped the monorail back to MK, picked up my car and drove to AK. Rode Dinosaur and It's tough to be a Bug then drove to MGM and finished the day there. Left for the airport at about 5.

In the end I did 4 parks in 5 hours and rode 6 rides. Whew!

On another trip, we went for 17 days last year with the Muggette missing 11 school days after being in sixth grade for just over a week. There were no repercussions; she's a strong student, and she knew that her cost of the trip was working her tail off once we got back....she lived up to her end of the bargain.

We had our first family trip down there in 04. I knew I had made the right choice pushing dh to go when we walked out from under the train station on our first moments in MK and the afternoon parade was underway. My 3 year old (at the time) just lit up and you could see the magic in his eyes.

Wow, I don't think I'd want to do that. I don't think I'd even want to try.
I like seeing all I can see one park at a time. As a matter of fact, this is the first time that I plan on even doing two parks in one day. . .and on just one day. On one day we'll leave one park to eat at Le Cellier and stay at Epcot for the rest of the evening.

As far as the cancelled room goes, it worked out pretty well. We tried the beach club for part of that particular trip (we like to switch hotels down there if we're staying longer than a week), and they upgraded us at check-in to concierge. (I probably shouldn't mention that we also got towel animals every day of our trip lest I be lynched... )

The original goal for that particular trip was to try and do it with a budget in mind. I wanted to show that we could do a 17 day trip for half the money that we thought it would cost, and my mistake was putting together a proposal that came in well under budget. Mrs. Mugg decided we were saving so much money that we could easily do all the stuff we thought about in the first place! I think the only thing we ended up doing off of what I originally put together was the air fare and rental car.

I don't have kids of my own, so it's a real treat to watch the expressions on all their faces, especially at MK. Some of them are priceless !
