A Halloween Adventure in Autism (11/7) Prayer Request for Catie (p.129)

Yay for Ed!! Sounds like you all had a great ride together. TOT is one we've never done all together. DD13 rode it when she was around 6 and won't go again. DS9 doesn't like that his behind comes off the seat and he says it makes him feel sick. :sad2: So I usually end up taking DD8 since I sit out RnR as it makes me feel a bit sick.

Uh oh about the foreshadowing......

I love hearing about you and Ed snuggling with Billy, the love you both have for him (and Tricia) really shines through on your posts.

It was good that Catie and Tricia worked out the shower/making up the couch schedule. DVC is so great for families! They think of everything. I loved the Ed smilie and you know I took it!

I know what you mean about the mad dash to TSM, it is just nuts. I am amazed that Ed finally agreed to TOT. Awww I loved it when you said Billy kept repeating "Ride with Mommy and Daddy", that is so sweet.

The bellhop picture is GREAT! Ed just didn't understand you wanted to get those shots for me :rotfl:I have never seen that, the only time I did TOT we went through the FP line.

“Stop shouting!” Billy called out (I had to laugh!) “Stop shouting!”

Awww, I understand how that could bother him. I love how he says what is on his mind.

It was a great installment, I can't wait to see how the rest of the day went.

Great installment! I always love it when we can get everyone in the group on the ride. Steven doesn't like drops, but loves BTMRR :confused3. We've urged him to try the drop rides every 6 years. We've told him "you rode it when you were 6 you might like it now, try it again and if you don't like it you don't have to try for another 6 years". He's a trooper and goes along, but he's confirmed he won't try TOT again for another 5 years.

I love roller coasters, but last year we tried the green side of MS and I actually liked it better. It may be because I'm getting older, but I think that's the side we will stick with from now on.

I hope you find someone to go with you! It is Spring Break that week here or I would try and do it.
Yay for Ed, I am hoping to make it on myself this year.:scared1:

Hurray for Ed riding the Tower of Terror!!! So much braver than me!!! :thumbsup2

That's a great picture with the bellhop! I am shocked by how empty Sunset Boulevard is -- I guess that is the best time to go ride the rides now that everyone is running towards TSM.

:cool1: YAY for Ed!

Glad he liked it...I love that ride too :thumbsup2 If you ask me what my 2 favorite rides are...I'd pick ToT and IASW...I know weird combo...but hey I like a good mixture :rotfl:

Love the picture in front of the ToT sign w/ the bell hop...I must get one of those someday...

and I have never noticed the windows outside the ride...very cool. I am usually in a rush to get back to my waiting family.

any luck on the roommate yet?

J~

BTW I was quite tempted...since my parents would already be there...I even checked airfare...but I need to be sensible here...

Thanks! He is a real snuggle-bunny and was so happy that the whole family was together for the ride! He doesn't like it much when we have to split up.

Well, it's always wise not to push a ride on someone. Sounds like you realiae that Steven will try it when he's ready. And even if he never rides it, there are always so many other great attractions (and new ones to come!) :thumbsup2

Oddly I have, but only once before actually. TOT has that drop feeling that freaks me out.

Listen, it took me a few trips before I plucked up the courage to ride it, so don't feel bad! You have to know your limits... I feel the same about Mission Space-Orange... NO WAY!

Yay Ed!!! Thankfully you all didn't have to wait, so he didn't have time to chicken out!

Tell me about it! If he HAD felt queasy afterwards I would've felt so guilty!

I was shocked that ToT was a walk-on... and on a Fantasmic day, too!
We are standing on an incline so the bellhop looks as though he's seven feet tall, doesn't he?!

Thanks, Scrappie! It would've been fun! Announcement about March trip to follow....

I'm trying very hard to look for the little details that I haven't noticed on previous trips. Too often I feel as though we rush here and rush there and we miss so much of the magic! pixiedust:

Way to go, Ed! :thumbsup2 ToT always unnerves me a bit while in the queue. But when its over I think - what's the big deal? :confused3

I have to agree with Billy - I absolutely hate when people scream during ToT. And this is always at least one person on every car that does it.

My first ride, many years ago, was with a women who scream the entire ride. Right from the start to the finish, with no breaks, except to breathe. I really thought she was going to have a complete meltdown! Talk about a real panic attack. Sheesh....it was completely unnerving.

Well, my friend Julie (mousescrapper) really kind of summed it all up in a nutshell: A little trip to WDW is so tempting, but, we have to be sensible.

I've crunched and crunched and crunched the numbers this way and that. Unfortunately the high cost of Spring Break airfare and the fact that I would need to purchase park tickets... even if only for a single day... make the Derm Convention trip just too expensive. (Remember, there would be the cost of the convention, too.)

*Heavy* *Heavy* *Sigh* :sad1:

If you recall, we did a complete home renovation in 2008. I love my new home, but the fact is we are still paying for it. Dearly.

That's the big reason why we are skipping our 2010 Disney trip and putting off until 2011.

So, yes, I must be a big girl and be sensible about it.

Thanks to all of you who expressed regret about not being able to join me... I guess we're all in the same boat. (Or at least sailing on the same rough sea!)

In other news:

I have an interview tomorrow for a full-time job in another dermatology practice. Hopefully that will help me get to Disney in 2011 guilt-free! :thumbsup2

Also, Ed is very excited about a course he will be taking in April. He will be trained in teaching Public Safety Workers (Police/Fire/EMS) about interfacing with people on the Autism Spectrum in ways that will keep both workers and civilians safe. He is the perfect person to teach a class like this! :cheer2: He has an extensive amount of teaching experience and, as you know, has lots of personal experience in this area.

Stay tuned for more trip report installments...

 Some times it sucks to have to be sensible. I hope and pray you get that job :goodvibes. It is wonderful about Ed training about Autism Spectrum, those people don't know how lucky they are to have him teach them :thumbsup2.

Yes, being sensible is so not fun! :( Good luck on your job interview, and Ed is truly perfect for the class he is going to be teaching. :goodvibes

Good luck on the interview!

Oh, and I've forgotten how to link my PTR to my siggie...help? :flower3:

It's tough to be sensible, but you're setting a great example for your kids!

Good luck with the interview! :goodvibes
