A Halloween Adventure in Autism (11/7) Prayer Request for Catie (p.129)

That looks like a pretty good safari ride to me! Of course, we've only ever done it in the rain! That elephant turning the log over and over is cracking me up - especially the teenager comment. Did the girls have any reaction to that?

They managed to look somewhat amused.

I bet the girls had just as much fun trying to catch the elusive animals with the cameras as they did on the safari itself!

Sorry more weren't out but the elephant moving the log and the baby giraffe are awfully cute!

They were... and it made up for the lack of other animals. The safari is always different everytime you go, that's what makes it interesting.

I'm getting a wee bit tired of the poacher storyline, though!

Definatley looks like you had a fun AK day. We skipped FOW because we've seen so many bird show at zoo's and our local Rennaisance Faire but reading you report I'm kinda bummed we diden't stop to see it.

There's always next time!

Just wait until you see how much we missed at AK! :faint:

Kathy

Sounds like a fun AK day! Even though you didn't see that many animals on the safari, it sounds like it was a unique ride. :thumbsup2

It evened out in the end... and I think the girls were happy to get some nice pictures!

Dear Kathy,
Last night I dreamed you had finished your TR (although I protested internally that you had just started at AK). I was very embarassed as I am still on my first day, and I have neither children nor a spouse to keep me off the DIS.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

 See, your subconscious mind is telling you to get going!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: This looks like the same exact shot I've always gotten of those lazy lions in eight trips!

What do you mean leaving us with that cliff-hanger??????

What cliff hanger?? :rolleyes1

That is a very cool picture of the elephant playing with the log! :thumbsup2

It was really nice of the driver to stop for a bit so we could watch him turn it over a couple of times!

Kathy

We enjoyed FOW show too....and I'm scared of birds! It was something fun to see, even though we may not go back every visit. :thumbsup2

Sweet pic of you and Billy! :goodvibes

Thanks... I feel the same way, but Ed just loves this show and wants to see it every time. When Aunt Rae came to Disney with us he would take her there while I was with the kids on EE but then... well... it's a long story! :upsidedow

That show would give me nightmares. I sit though the one at our local zoo every summer for Aisling benefit. It's horrible! I'm so glad that you guys had such a calm relaxing day at AK. Wasn't it so nice not to have to rush around?!?! Sorry you didn't get to try Y&Y. It is yummy. Maybe on a future trip!

You got some great scenery shots of AK by the way. Nice job!!! :thumbsup2

Sorry the birds make you uncomfortable... what sacrifices we make for our kids, huh? And thank you for the photography compliment... I know that you actually know what you are doing along those lines. I just point, shoot, and pray!

Kathy

I'm going with parade :)

I think you guys did pretty well for the hot afternoon.

That was like our one and only Safari--- sort of, not much. I"m willing to give it another try, though, in Sept. so, we'll see. I guess it can be hit or miss, all the time.

I'm going with DeVine. At least I hope so, because I'd love to see more pictures of her. :goodvibes

I'm glad Catie got to see Animal Kingdom in a different way this trip! I like the animal pics you got, especially the giraffes! :lovestruc I'll echo the other guesses that it was a parade that stopped you.

Ah, got behind again! Real life has been throwing this family around lately. ;) :goodvibes What a great afternoon at AK! I LOVE me a lazy morning and having no plans, just wandering around doing whatever you want....:cloud9: Glad to read Catie is enjoying AK this time too! :thumbsup2

One of the real "selling points" of SSR was the easy walk/boat ride to DTD. But now that PI is only a skeleton of it's former self, I'm a bit disappointed. Hopefully Disney has plans for PI that we don't know about yet!

Oh, I hope so! It's so sad that it's just dead there, it's strange to walk through it, a ghost town! We never saw PI functioning...when we were there in 2006 we never walked that far down DTD, I really wish we would have!

Too badd the animals just can't be as predictable as they are on the Jungle Cruise! :rotfl:

I don't know if I mentioned it before, but Catie is an only child. I'm sure that touring the AK with her cousins was a somewhat different experience than she had with just her parents.

Hey there... I hope little Henry is feeling better!

Perhaps staying at Kidani Village fostered a "Hakuna Matata" attitude!

Great Updates.. .

Not sure what would have stopped you. Perhaps a character Meet n' Greet...Frozen Lemonades?:confused3 The parade was at 3:45 I think so that was over and done. We asked about DeVine after we rode the Safari and the CM we talked to said she was gone for the day. I think Billy wanted to ride something.

We went on the Safari a little earlier in the afternoon and we were surprised to walk right on without any wait. It was a great day at the Animal Kingdom! :thumbsup2

... our Christmas Vacation coundown ticker! :santa:

Seems that Ed and Eddie were reading my report together while they were talking on the phone last night (say what?) and they both noticed that the ticker was, quote, "wrong!" Ed told Eddie that it was probably nothing... that knowing me, I would probably change things around a dozen times or so until I was happy (also a quote.)

Apparently Eddie is more excited about going to WDW and staying in a treehouse than he let on and was disappointed at the thought of not going with the family. Then Ed said that Billy and Tricia would be disappointed, too... :(

Okay, boys, go ahead.

Twist my arm.

I'll move our vacation up two months... just for you. :rolleyes1

Congratulations!! Hey, two months sooner is two months sooner!!

The treehouses look great, can't wait to hear how you like them.:goodvibes

I saw your changed ticker on Jamie's report and had to buzz over here to see what happened! Sounds like the whole family is on board with the Christmas/NYE trip!! :thumbsup2 You had some good valid points about changing it back to Feb, there is a LOT of people/stimulation during that week...but, do you think if you prepare Billy for that he will be OK?

And if you guys can get up EAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARLY (7:00 am was RD!) then you will pretty much avoid that. Do RD then leave around noon and you'll be good! Or do late nights. When we went for evening EMH, it was quiet and many of the rides were walk-ons....as you'll find out as my TR goes on. :goodvibes

Aye aye aye!! Thanks, Nancy, you just reminded me of something very important that I forgot to mention.....

 Like I said, they really had to twist my arm!

If it was that hot out, I don't think I'd be out grazing either. LOL!!

Somehow I find myself grazing no matter what the weather!

I knew you'd be one of the first to notice, Brook! :goodvibes

Yes, I will have to plan/prepare more intensely for this trip so Billy doesn't get over-stimulated. He adores his big brother, though, so that will be a wonderful trade-off.

Of all things to consider, it's the early early rope drops that concern me the most... I'm all for them, but we will have two teenagers and one or two college kids this time and you know how they love to stay up late and sleep in! :rolleyes1

I may have to do a few early mom-and-son trips to MK before everyone else wakes up!

Kathy

That's absolutely precious about Ed and Eddie wanting the Christmas trip, Kathy! :goodvibes

You are so sweet to change your plans to make them happy. ;):rotfl:

Kathy

Ummm, You're Welcome?!

Sounds like your Christmas trip is a go!! :dance3::santa: I think mornings with Billy sounds like a good idea. Abby and I spent the afternoon at Animal Kingdom and we had a great time together! Spending some time with just one of the kids is fun! It has a different dynamic than being with the whole family. Those tree houses look like a lot of fun to me!
