A Guide to Taking it Easy at WDW. Oct 2014 Mother/Daughter Trip Updated 3/6x2 The End!

great now i'm hungry! Where is my banana. <- there he is!

I am EXACTLY like you i cannot will not have fat. I gag... So what you write about i will stay close to. No pork shank thing.. :thumbsup2
Spare rib thing is a yes! i trust you!!!

Regardless of the heat and sweaty stuff you both look wonderful in your little photo shoot!

Love the loot you got too!!!!!!

Haha, I always feel so bad when the Photopass Photogs are standing around alone like they have cooties or something. I can't help but do the same thing as you and give them some business.

That is a GREAT Magic Shot with Olaf.

Ooooh that ravioli does look good.

Ah, good choice on the Canada shirt!! :thumbsup2

I'm so glad I ate lunch already before reading that chapter!! I would've been starving, so it's good I was full :rotfl2: Instead, I'm sitting here drooling :rotfl:

Everything sounds delish! I am sort of a picky eater and never really thought I would enjoy Food and Wine but I saw lots of things in your pics that I would probably enjoy. :woohoo:

I just had dinner before I ventured in here.....and I'm hungry all over again.
Love your food porn choices and the jewellery is wonderful. I need to get me one of those recycled bracelets or necklaces one of these trips.

That photographer did great. Lovely pictures of you and your mom.

What a great day in Epcot. Nice to have that gift card to help you out with the F&W spending. :thumbsup2

Ugh to the lamb chop that was all fat. I would hate that, but everything else looks delicious. Some super yummy choices!

Norway does look a bit sad right now, doesn't it.

That pastry from France - YUM!

Fun purchases!

Great update!

I love your jewelry purchases.

Thanks! Those necklaces are so much fun because they are Disney without screaming "DISNEY". :rotfl:

The mahi mahi was super yummy, glad you ended up liking it!

I was too. I hate to waste food but I really wanted to try it. That's the great thing about food and wine. Small portions so you can try new stuff.

Smart idea heading to the Visa lounge. Free soda is never a bad thing!

It was definitely the break we needed from the heat that day.

great now i'm hungry! Where is my banana. <- there he is!

That's the danger of reading TRs, you never know when food porn is going to pop up. :rotfl2:

I am EXACTLY like you i cannot will not have fat. I gag... So what you write about i will stay close to. No pork shank thing.. :thumbsup2
Spare rib thing is a yes! i trust you!!!

It was actually a lamb chop that was so fatty. I have one of the worse gag reflexes ever. It's not a pretty site. The beef short ribs were wonderful though, so tender you didn't even need a knife at all.

Regardless of the heat and sweaty stuff you both look wonderful in your little photo shoot!

They did turn out much better than I expected.

Love the loot you got too!!!!!!

I can always find something fun to buy in Mouse Gears.

Haha, I always feel so bad when the Photopass Photogs are standing around alone like they have cooties or something. I can't help but do the same thing as you and give them some business.

He was a really nice guy which didn't hurt. Can't remember what all we talked to him about but we had a good 10 minute conversation while I was eating my fish.

That is a GREAT Magic Shot with Olaf.

I loved that one and I'm glad he suggested it. He asked us if we wanted Stitch first but I said we had already done that one.

Ooooh that ravioli does look good.

It was. I want some right now.

Ah, good choice on the Canada shirt!! :thumbsup2

I figured you would like that one.

I'm so glad I ate lunch already before reading that chapter!! I would've been starving, so it's good I was full :rotfl2: Instead, I'm sitting here drooling :rotfl:

It's hard not to drool over Disney food!

Everything sounds delish! I am sort of a picky eater and never really thought I would enjoy Food and Wine but I saw lots of things in your pics that I would probably enjoy. :woohoo:

When it comes to being picky, I think I'm the champion. We went to Flower and Garden in May and there was not one thing at any of the booths that I would touch. But Food and Wine has a lot more booths so at least there were a few things I would eat.

I just had dinner before I ventured in here.....and I'm hungry all over again.

That is definitely a hazard of reading TRs.

Love your food porn choices and the jewelry is wonderful. I need to get me one of those recycled bracelets or necklaces one of these trips.

I love that jewelry because you can wear it without screaming Disney at everyone. But you know that it's Disney. Kind of sneaky.

That photographer did great. Lovely pictures of you and your mom.

Those did turn out really well. Much better than I thought they would.

What a great day in Epcot. Nice to have that gift card to help you out with the F&W spending. :thumbsup2

It was very nice of my Great Aunt to give us those cards.

Ugh to the lamb chop that was all fat. I would hate that, but everything else looks delicious. Some super yummy choices!

Yeah, it was not good. I was pretty disappointed because I do like lamb and it was pretty expensive. I think around $6.

Norway does look a bit sad right now, doesn't it.

Yes it does. We missed the closing of Maelstrom by a few weeks but at least I rode it in May.

That pastry from France - YUM!

It was good, just not my favorite because it wasn't chocolate.

Fun purchases!

Great update!

Thanks!

We got up around 6 am on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 and headed to Sassagoula Float Works for breakfast. I decided that the Mickey waffles were so good the day before that I needed another one.

It came with strawberries but I got those on the side.

Mom got pancakes but I forgot to take a picture. I did take some pictures of the decorations as we sat at our table. We were looking for the Hidden Mickey that was in the food court. The book just said “look up” so not much of a clue. We did find it later in the week but needed help from a CM to do so.

Oh, you can see half of Mom’s pancakes in this next photo.

We were headed to Animal Kingdom this morning and we did make it to the park by 9 am rope drop. But this is where we were in the line.

This is what the area around the tree looked like, lots of yucky construction walls.

I managed to zoom in to get a picture of just the tree.

Of course since we were in “take it easy” mode this trip, the first thing we did was stop for some pictures.

If you can’t tell, my shirt was a custom with Pluto and some pumpkins for Halloween. We got a few Magic Shots too.

Mom does surprised way better than I do.

Our first FP for the day was for Dinosaur from 9:10 – 10:10 so we headed that way. We stopped for a bathroom break right across from Flametree. I finished up first so I took a few photos while I was waiting.

Flametree was also behind construction walls although it was still open.

We used our Dinosaur FP even though it was completely unnecessary.

There was no line at all. The big dinosaur that’s supposed to jump out at you right at the photo spot was not working. There was a dinosaur on the other side of the car that was much smaller and not scary at all. Because of that, everyone in the picture is looking the wrong way.

When I went to retrieve our ride photo afterwards, the CM there told me that the photo would go automatically on my account thanks to my Magic Band so I didn’t need to stop and get it scanned.

There was a pin board out by the photo place so I stopped to look. That’s where we met a CM named Joan. She was very sweet but one of those people that can talk forever without interruption. It took Mom and I a while to extract ourselves from her before we could get out of there.

Mom needed to make her daily call to my Great Aunt so we stopped right outside Dinosaur and sat for a bit while she talked on the phone. By the time she finished the call and we had browsed through the second store, it was almost 10 am and time for Pluto and Goofy’s first meet of the day. There were only two or three families in line so we hopped in. I took a few pictures while we waited the five or so minutes for them to come out.

We made it to see Pluto and Goofy in no time and had a very nice meet with them. Unfortunately the pictures were not in my account when I got home. I e-mailed Disney but they were unable to retrieve the pictures due to “technical” problems with the camera. I was sad because it was the only formal meet I did with Pluto that week. At least I had the photos from the O’Hana breakfast the day before.

 boo on the NO PP!!! Sorry that happened to you! Mickey waffles are the best food in all of Disney. Hands down.

Thanks for posting the pictures in FQ! Never walked over there. it's VERY busy isn't it!

My favorite shot is the Dragon Head!!!!

OK now that you updated i can go and do mine! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Yes AK is a major mess right now...

You and your Mom take the cutest pictures!!!

Love Mickey waffles! I need to go to POFQ again, I stayed there when I was like two years old but would love to stay there again. Animal kingdom is a mess but soon enough it will be amazing once again with even more to do and see. We also had an early dinosaur FP that was unnecessary because the line was like non existent.

Really enjoying reading your trip report :thumbsup2 My DD (13) and I do Mommy/Daughter trips too. We are usually over in DL but are planning to go to WDW in August 2016. :) DD tells me that we will always do Mommy/Daughter trips even when she is grown up! :goodvibes

Hmmm. As much as I enjoy a good cupcake for breakfast, I know I absolutely have to get a Mickey waffle at least once this upcoming trip. I've missed them.

Ugh, those construction walls just look so awful.

I am still confused by the Dinosaur ride photos I've seen. I have yet to look left.

Oh man, I can't believe they lost this of all photos. That's just cruel.

I'm way behind on this one to post comments, but I am caught up.

LOVE all the photopass pictures.

 boo on the NO PP!!! Sorry that happened to you! Mickey waffles are the best food in all of Disney. Hands down.

I was really bummed that they couldn't retrieve those pictures! Love me some Disney waffles!

Thanks for posting the pictures in FQ! Never walked over there. it's VERY busy isn't it!

Yes, the food court has a ton of decorations. A lot of them were found in warehouses in New Orleans. Left over parade stuff I think.

My favorite shot is the Dragon Head!!!!

That did turn out nice. I was just looking for something to do while we were waiting in line.

OK now that you updated i can go and do mine! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Yes AK is a major mess right now...

It really is but I can't wait to see the new night show.

You and your Mom take the cutest pictures!!!

Thanks, I love how those PP pictures turned out.

We did enjoy POFQ a lot. Yeah, the people on the ride with us in Dinosaur entered at pretty much the same time as us so we just met in the middle before the preshow. :rotfl2:

Great PP pics! Ugh what a bummer about not getting those Pluto & Goofy pics, how disappointing.

I was so disappointed! That's the first time that Disney has not been able to retrieve missing photos for me.

Really enjoying reading your trip report :thumbsup2 My DD (13) and I do Mommy/Daughter trips too. We are usually over in DL but are planning to go to WDW in August 2016. :) DD tells me that we will always do Mommy/Daughter trips even when she is grown up! :goodvibes

Welcome, thanks for reading along and commenting! Awe that's so cute that you daughter is already planning Mommy/Daughter trips for the rest of your lives.

Hmmm. As much as I enjoy a good cupcake for breakfast, I know I absolutely have to get a Mickey waffle at least once this upcoming trip. I've missed them.

Yes, you need to, there's something about Disney waffles that is so much better than regular ones!

Ugh, those construction walls just look so awful.

Yea they were but at least it's (hopefully) a sign of good things to come.

I am still confused by the Dinosaur ride photos I've seen. I have yet to look left.

I think that the big dinosaur must have been broken. I don't think I've ever looked to the left when the big dinosaur is roaring at me so I don't know if that one on the left is always there or something temporary when the big one is broken. :confused3

Oh man, I can't believe they lost this of all photos. That's just cruel.

I know, I was so disappointed when I got the email back from Disney.

I'm way behind on this one to post comments, but I am caught up.

LOVE all the photopass pictures.

Hi Kathy, thanks for stopping by and getting caught up!

When we finished with Pluto and Goofy, we noticed that there was no line for Triceratop Spin so we thought why not and headed that way. Neither one of us had ridden it before so it was something to check off our list. It’s not quite as photogenic as Dumbo but I took some pictures anyway.

The ride is similar to the Magic Carpets in Adventureland. There are controls in both the front and back of the dinosaur. One controls the up and down and the other rocks the car. I can’t remember who had which control but Mom sat in the back and I was in the front. I took pictures as we flew.

Since we were trying out some firsts this morning we decided to play some of the games there just to say we did it. We choose the game where you throw plastic balls into cups and try to get them into the colored ones. Well we both won. Mom managed to get her ball into a red cup which is the jumbo prize. I hit a cup that was for a medium prize. The CM running the game said we could combine our wins and each get a large prize if we wanted. We ended up doing that and both got turtles. Mom got the green one and I got the purple. And Mom thought they needed to be photographed in a natural setting so that’s why they are in the bushes in this photo.

Once the thrill of winning wore off though, we were both like “what the heck are we going to do with these things all day?” We briefly discussed getting a locker but neither of us wanted to walk all the way back to the front of the park or spend $12 on a locker. We started walking towards Asia and our next FP+ destination. I saw a pair of sisters eying up our prizes and Mom and I decided in a split second to gift them on the little girls. They were really excited and it passed our problem of what to do with them off on their parents.

We moved on and used our next FP+ for Expedition Everest.

I decided to be chill on this ride while it looks like Mom has a death grip going on the lap bar.

After facing the Yeti, we headed off towards the Maharajah Jungle Trek to visit some tigers and bats but first I had to take this sad picture. No temple photos for me this trip.

Up Next: Step 13: Take a Stroll Through the Jungle

I also haven't ridden triceratop spin. It's just never appealed to me I am a dumbo fan tho. I love your Everest ride photo. The death grip reminds me on my grandma on dinosaur

Nice idea trying out Triceratop Spin, I've yet to go on it myself.

Omgosh the pic of your 2 stuffies is adorable! And nice of you to pass them on to those sisters.

Haha, a lot of the time I find that games area to be quite depressing. It always seems to be empty when I'm there and those poor CM's just bored out of their minds. Cute prizes though. And what a great gesture passing them on to some kids. Plus added bonus of not having to cart them around all day. WIN-WIN!

What a bummer about your Animal Kingdom Pluto pics!!! I think I would be seriously screaming and freaking out :scared1:
So fun that you both won prizes--we've never paused to play any of those games either. Very magical of you to pass along your prizes (and your problem--ha!!) to the little girls. :cutie:

Catching up!

Great day at AK so far. Shame about all the construction walls.
So sorry that your PP pictures got 'lost'. I think you need to tell DH and your DM that you need to re-do this trip. :rolleyes1

Nice ticking off another ride off your Disney list. And well done on the games! What did you do with your turtle prize?
