Andrea - You're right! Sesame Place. WDW it isn't...LOL

I'll get anniversary buttons for us both, but bring a copy of our
marriage certificate and employment records to prove our early
celebration!! J/K :rotfl:

Thanks for the tips! I'll be celebrating my 40th birthday at WDW in December.

Me Too!! December 9th. We are staying at CBR 12/6 to 12/13!! I never thought I would be so excited for my 40th birthday but that is the magic of Disney I guess!!

We are going April 20 to the 27th and during this week its my sons 8th birthday...does Disney do anything special if i mention it to them?

You can ask for a birthday button. Allowing your child to wear this button will ensure constant reminders from cast members all day long :). You might find him getting some free ice cream etc as the day goes on too.

Have a great time!

Hollywood & Vine brought out a cupcake with Mickey shaped sprinkles and our waitress announced the bday and had the whole place sing!

We've been to WDW for birthdays before and I would say it's really up to the CM. Some will go out their way, and others won't. I would suggest your son wear a birthday button. He will come into contact with lots of CM's through the day that will help make his birthday magical.

Have fun, and good luck!

It really depends on who you talk to about it...

We were at a Character Brkfst at AK when my middle child turned 5. I mentioned it to the CM, and they had each of the 4 characters come the table at once (extra - after they had each been there individually), and Goofy presented him with a signed birthday card and a plastic dino shaped water gun. Then the CM had the entire rest. sing to him with Mickey "directing". It was pretty cool. Then he got a b-day button to wear all day as well.

I'll post when I get back....

I'll be there from 4-17th to the 24th. DD will turn 6. I have it noted on my hotel ressie and ADR's(on the actual day).
Bkfst will be Chef Mickey's then on to BBB....ending up with the Castle for dinner.
I figure if they don't do something special at these places......it ain't gonna happen.
Have a great trip

My experiences to date...
'99, my dd turned 6 at WDW. At CP that night they brought her out a card signed by the characters and a special birthday cupcake with a candle. I had noted her birthday when we booked the stay as well as when we checked in at the restaurants.
In '06, she turned 13 in WDW. I mentioned it at the time of booking my room and when I booked each ADR. She wore her birthday button on her actual birthday, as well another button the other days that said..'celebrating my birthday at WDW'..the birthday button said 'Today is my birthday'. She was asked to stand up and be recognized at HDDR on her birthday. I ordered her a special cake at Grand Floridian Cafe for lunch..the server brought it out and had the entire restaurant sing to her. She got a special birthday placemat and cupcake at Chef Mickeys. And a lot of 'happy birthdays' as she walked through the parks.
But, other than those things, nothing to speak of..no free FPs, no free ice cream, no balloons etc.

Don't go expecting anything, and you won't be disappointed.

Many, many, many people wear the birthday buttons these days, even to celebrate recent or approaching birthdays. Disney can't possibly do something special for everyone, so mostly these days it's limited to "Happy Birthday" from CMs.

My DD9 got special birthday desserts at most of our TS meals during our trip, and lots of "Happy Birthday Princess!" greetings from CM's. She even got a signed birthday card (signed by the characters) at Ohana's. I have to say, it made her feel extra special on that trip.

I think it all depends. On my DD's 8th birthday, we got her a birthday button and some CMs (and some perfect strangers) said happy birthday to her. We went to Boma for dinner that night, noted on our reservation that it was her birthday dinner, mentioned to the server that she was the birthday girl (kind of obvious anyway since she had her pin on), and did not get so much as a happy birthday from the server. She was pleased with the little bit of attention in the parks when a CM would say Happy Birthday, though, so it's definitely worth getting the birthday button on your way in.

1) Easily obtainable
. . . cupcake with or without a candle at sit-down eateries
. . . birthday button at all four parks and most resorts

2) Usually obtainable
. . . balloons in room
. . . autographed card from character(s)

3) Occasionally Obtainable
. . . pixie dust (glitter) on table at some eateries

NOTE: CM's have a lot of latitude to give things to guests. They can range from plushes to flowers to fruit baskets to meals, and even more. Just hope for a friendly CM.

I got a decorated birthday cupcake at Chef Mickey's when I was there for my 30th. I also got a "Chef Mickey's" vinyl placemat to keep, which was kind of cool. Then when we were on the bus back to the resort the driver played some kind of "happy birthday" recording thing over the loudspeaker. Other than that, I just got a lot of Happy Birthdays from CM's and guests. I had the button. and bought myself the birthday cake hat with the characters and the light up candles. If I was spending my 30th at Disney, I wanted to do it up big!

Last year for my DD 4th birthday we were scheduled to have breakfast at Cindy's before the park opened. My DD was in her Cindy dress and we stopped by town hall to get her button. As we were standing there, another CM asked if she could borrow my princess. SHe was leading a new cast memeber orientation and wanted to show some of the different things they coudl do. Well they took my DD up to the train platform and annoucned to Main St that it was her birthday and all the CMs from the shoppes down Main St came out and sang Happy Birthday. One of the collest mement I have ever been a part of in WDW
