A great big pickle...sigh.

My hubby will be 51 in August. I *think* he has three grey hairs. Grrrr. Actually, mine aren't grey. They're silver. Hate!

Silver is better - it's pretty!! :thumbsup2

P.S. So sorry! I forgot to thank you and Kari for the FB search info!:flower3:

When they thin it, all these little flyaways start popping out, and it turns into a frizzy mess. I think I will probably do it a little past my shoulders with a few long layers, then a loose perm to keep the frizz in check. After the perm, it will be just above my shoulders. I am trying to get my nurses aide license... once I do I will either have to cut it or wear it pinned up all the time. But my hair is too heavy to pin up, and causes migraines... so the haircut wins!

That sounds like a perfect length. :thumbsup2 Good for you on getting your license. We've been wanting to move to the US for a long time. I've actually have been toying with the idea of getting my nursing degree. I currently have a psychology/French/sociology degree so my RN would only take me two years to obtain. Money is the only thing holding me back right now. :sad2: If I had my degree, I'd be south in a heartbeat!

Lordy, can't believe I am doing this..but it's only fair, since 'youse' posted pics.

Sophia and I the end of February.

Woo hoo! Look at you all beyootiful and stuff. You are *exactly* as I pictured you, minus the habit, of course. :rotfl: I LOVE your sweater. :lovestruc

I have the same eyeglasses. :)

OMGosh, I want that baby! Squeeeeeeeeee!

Christine... I think we may have the same couch! Same fabric at the very least. And the pic is really cute... don't know what you were worried about!

Tracy... I really want to get my RN, too. The classes here, the first semester is getting the Nurses Aide, so I am doing that on my own. Once I have a year experience, I want to get on at a local hospital, and get into their Nursing Fellows program. They will pay for my school, I can get my training hours in while working, and then I am guaranteed a job for 2 years after I get my degree. I would go full time now if Wynn's job were more stable.

Wow. You are one lucky lady to be able to do that. I wish that were available to me. Nursing jobs are high in demand. Guaranteed a full time job for life. And one I'd actually enjoy. A girl can dream. Sigh.

Ahh, yes, you expected old as dirt?? :rotfl:

That sweater is a Talbots sweater I bought in 2004, I think. Glad you like it! :) Hey,are your glasses kinda dark pinkish-purplish? I want new ones (need $$ first though)..the kind without the frame...would look better on me. Found a pretty pair, with a small oval shape (I have a really small head) with a teeny bit of pink on the bridge and where the thingys attach to the frame.

My Sophia....she's a real character!

Too funny!!! It's a love seat - with that kind of corduroy fabric...or is it called something else? Very comfy!!

I live with my DD, DGB and DSIL...when DSIL's office closed he was recruited by his company here..they invited me to come b/c I would be alone in Boston. Sooo sweet. Now that they have Sophia, I take care of her during the day. Mia has a home office for AMEX, so it's just like being in a regular office - she is in there all day, except for scheduled breaks.

Dsil's office (also amex) closed last month - yep, the one where he was recruited..and so he is out of work...but hopefully something will open up in AMEX (who knows where) come Fall. His VP is trying very hard to find him something within the Co - they don't want to lose him.

Wow, all the almost nurses! I wanted to go to nursing school after HS, but my dad was transferred and I went along..then entered the convent. Became a pre-school teacher - which I absolutely adored.

You both will do great - you'll be wonderful nurses - takes a special kind of person.:goodvibes

I'll share... you can all sympathize I am sure! My big dumb dog keeps coming and laying down by my feet while I'm online... and she has the worst gas! :scared: I keep sending her to her bed, but she keeps coming back!

I FOUND MY COUSIN ON FB!!!! Requested to add her as a friend. Looked at her friends, but not one of my other cousins..and she has 6 siblings! She's a PhD...awhile back she was inventing new types of contact lenses...who knew we had brains in the family. :confused3

I taught preschool for 5 years. When I got pregnant with Tucker, I went to being a nanny, and took him with me until he was 2. Then I started keeping kids from home. Now NC laws have changed, and I can only keep 2 kids (instead of 5 like I have been doing) so I can't afford to stay home anymore. If I could, I would just stay home and keep kids forever. BUT... I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.

My glasses have gold rims but the arms are a purplish colour, yes. I need new ones badly. My eyes change so much. Never wore glasses in my life until three years ago. My optometrist says I will need new scripts every year. :( I'm not a candidate for contacts either.

You are not older n' dirt. Stop talking about my friend like that! I can *so* see you as a teacher.

Christine, you know that is one of my FAVORITE pictures.

That is too funny. :dogdance:

Have I ever told you that the picture of your children is one of my favorites on the DIS...they look just like angels.

Thanks! But even as I type this I am yelling for them to sit down and stop arguing! :rotfl: It's laugh or cry!

I hate to break it to you...it DOES NOT get any better when they get older. My two still go at it -- ages 23 and 21. And it is just bigger people and bigger problems (driving, drinking, GIRLS). :lmao:

I could never be a teacher. I don't think I have the patience for it. Kudos to you all!

Kari, my dog had wicked gas the other night too. Oh my gosh, I thought I was going to have to call haz mat to come pull me out of the green fog. It was deadly. I feel your pain, girl!

Mine snatched a piece of peparoni pizza a bit ago... we're all paying for it!

This is Star. She's a lab/chow mutt that Santa rescued. ;)

Okay, this is unbelievable....the long story is...when I went back to school (for degree) could not find childcare I liked..so I opened a small day care/pre-school at home - took no more than 4 - became known and never took a child that was not referred...I was very blessed.

After 20 yrs decided I needed a change...closed my day care/pre-school and became a nanny (had to be around munchkins) to a 2 yr old whose mother had died a few mos before and they had already gone through 3 nannies.. Father was French and very difficult for young nannies.

Income was still good - in 1998, $550 a week after taxes. Then, a yr later, my son passed unexpectedly...changed families...another yr as a nanny...family moved to RI....paid me for the summer while I job searched...became an After School Director for a Catholic Grammar School...2 yrs..then moved here...do not drive..was fortunate to find a position as a pre-school teacher within walking distance...due to cutbacks, lost that in May of '08....do not drive, no other job nearby...sigh...Times are difficult for so many right now.

When Sophia is toddler might try to find another toddler....it would be good for her to have a playmate and I could sure use the income..even if just a little. Do not want to get NC certification..I'm too anti-establishment- but do have the criminal checks done.

Small world!!

Yup. Our two oldest fought something terrible. Hated each other, the whole nine yards. One day, I looked them both in the eye and said, "some day the two of you will be out clubbing together, mark my words." They looked at me like I had sprouted a third eye. :rotfl2: Guess what they do all the time now that they are 23 and 21? Yup. Party hearty together. Thank goodness the two have moved out and are out on their own. I nearly lost my mind.
