A Grand Dream of a Honeymoon - June 2011

...........

At the Grand Floridian, we went out to the courtyard pool – it was a lovely hot day so we decided to soak up some of the sun before heading home!
We spent a couple of hours there, swimming & sunbathing – I popped to Gasparilla Grill to get us some drinks and I had hoped to get a Mickey bar, but couldn’t see one so I got a cup of strawberry frozen yoghurt (the Mickey bars turned out to be in a freezer near the tills, never mind!).

About 3pm, we headed inside the lobby and had a walk around the second floor.

We went to arrange our luggage with bell services, as we were being picked up at 4pm, and I changed my park bag for my hand luggage.

The porter who’d collected our bags that morning had told us that there were showers & changing rooms available if we needed them.. I was so glad he’d mentioned that!
I asked at reception where the facilities were, the CM said we could use the spa or that there were showers in the Summer House (building between the two pools). The spa was a little walk away so we decided to try the summer house, which turned out just to be restrooms – so off to the spa we went!
We felt a bit cheeky just using the spa changing rooms & showers, but they are available to Grand Floridian guests – and no one asked us what we were doing there when we walked in!
It was nice to get showered & put on fresh clothes for the journey home.

We walked back to the lobby, and waited for our town car to arrive. The band was playing, it was such a great atmosphere… I really didn’t want to leave!

IMG_1960.jpg

Lots of guests were arriving, I guess for the July 4th weekend – at one point, a man came up to the reception desk and said he had a “VIP to check in” .. the manager came out, and said “we’ll let them in the back entrance, come with me” … I wonder who it was!!

All too soon, our driver arrived & loaded our luggage into his car – we saw the Cast Member again who had checked us in.. she recognised us & asked how our honeymoon had been.

Driving out of the gates.. :sad1:

IMG_1962.jpg

Our driver was very talkative, he asked how long we’d stayed & so we got talking about the cruise – he had been on the christening cruise in January on the Dream!

Soon we were at MCO, there was a separate line for Premium Economy so we got checked in very quickly, there was an hour until our gate opened so we stopped for a drink at the Fox sports bar. We went through security, then got on the monorail …. but Steve soon realised that we’d got on the wrong train!! We were worried we’d have to go through security again, but luckily that wasn’t the case .. we were giggling about it when another lady in our train admitted she’d done exactly the same! :cutie:
We bought some magazines at the gate, and were about to use the restrooms when we head “last call for Virgin Atlantic flight to London” ! The flight was so empty that they’d boarded really quickly.
We were sat upstairs on the plane again, there was a small patch of turbulence just off the Florida coast line (we’d been served dinner & I couldn’t eat because we were shaking around so much!) but then it was a smooth journey back to London.

Coming up…. Ummmm …. Where’s my next ticker?! :scared1:

You guys were able to do quite a bit on your last day! That's the way to do it, IMO :thumbsup2

I love the pictures with Stitch. I just love candid shots between the characters like that instead of just posing and smiling for the camera.

Uh-oh! Where's your ticker?!

Just caught up on your trip report! (I've been bad about this lately :sad2:)

The claps of thunder were getting louder and louder.. when suddenly, everything in front of us went completely white and we heard the loudest boom I’ve ever heard, and everything shook … afterwards, everyone looked at each other in panic & amazement… what had just happened?

Turned out.. the building had been hit by lightening! :scared1:

That's crazy!! I know it happens, but thankfully I've never been in a building when it's happened. I'm glad everyone is safe.

Back in the room, we got showered and changed – ready for our portrait session around the resort! Steve wasn’t too keen on doing this, he hadn’t minded when I’d booked it, but the day before he’d said he didn’t really want to do it because people would be staring at us! But when it came to it, I think he relaxed and actually quite enjoyed it. I wanted to do one of these sessions so we’d get some nice photos of the two of us, hoping to get a good one to use on our thank-you cards too because most of our wedding guests had given us money towards the honeymoon. :cloud9:

This is such a great idea, I had no idea that something like this was even available. She got some amazing shots of you two. And it's such a great idea for the thank you cards. You've given me some wonderful ideas for when I plan my wedding! (eventually :lmao:)

Around the World on a Segway, Epcot… ‘Ohana and a Wishes Fireworks Cruise

So much fun! Fort Wilderness has an "off-roading" segway tour that I'd love to do. I think it'd be amazing. I've heard the Aussies have a segway polo league. That would be fun to watch!

Steve spotted the Grand Yacht 1 and asked if I was going to surprise him with that rather than a pontoon boat… not this trip unfortunately! Maybe in the future – it did look lovely, a family had rented it for a birthday party that evening.

IMG_1715.jpg

In 2010 we rented the Grand Yacht for the 4th of July to watch the special Wishes fireworks. It was amazing! It was my whole family, so we all split the cost of the yacht and the catering and it didn't cost any more than a nice meal at one of the signature restaurants. (There were 18 of us, though). It's such fun to watch the fireworks from the lagoon.

I was so surprised! While we were exiting the ride, we looked at the FPs.. there were six of them in the total – and 15 minutes to go until they expired!

IMG_1821.jpg

As we’d already ridden the attraction several times this trip, we decided to spread the Disney magic a little instead – and found other guests to hand them out to.

This took longer than we’d imagined.. as some people didn’t seem to know what the fast passes were and maybe thought we were trying to sell them something! :rotfl: But eventually, we found a family of three who were really pleased; and then I saw a father & son approaching the stand-by line (it was 60 minutes) and the Dad said “oh no, we’re not waiting that long”.. so I quickly ran up to them and gave them two passes! We had one left over, for the scrap book.. it was nice to think that maybe we’d made someone’s day.

I know! We've had extras before too, and it's surprisingly difficult to spread the magic!

I started with some fruit, yoghurt (with honey, like Pooh would have!) and Mickey waffles– I hadn’t tried a chocolate one before..

IMG_1892.jpg

Chocolate Mickey waffles!!! CHOCOLATE! I have to go back now! :rotfl2:

Then we rode Buzz Lightyear’s Space Rader Spin..

And… guess what my score was?!

IMG_1920.jpg

Steve was livid! I must have hit something special that sent my score up to the maximum points – we were only in the second room too!

That happened to my mom once. She tried taking a picture of it, but it didn't come out on her phone. It made my brother really angry too, it must be a male ego thing. :rotfl2:

Whew...all caught up! I really enjoyed reading about your honeymoon. Thank you so much for sharing it.

I know I'm late, but Happy Birthday! Those cakes looked delicious!

Oh, no... so sad that this TR is just about over, I've so enjoyed it!!! You two really had a beautiful wedding and a lovely honeymoon and I'm so glad that you've shared it with us! :goodvibes

Wow! Close call on the flight... good thing you heard that call.

Also, you keep referring to a "till" what is that?

I'm glad you guys had such a wonderful trip. A little fairy dust all the way through, it sounds like... even up to the end, when you got the cookies. I'm going to miss your story and your story telling! You did such a nice job! Your story moved along at just the right speed and all the pictures were great!

I can't wait to read another TR soon!

awww! sad your TR is over. Looks like you had a wonderful honeymoon tho! Really enjoyed following along with your TR.

Hi Emma! I'm sad that your TR is just about complete! I caught up on it while at the airport yesterday. I am hoping to start mine today, but don't think mine will be as detailed as yours :rolleyes1. I hope you go on another Disney vacation soon--I can't wait to read another report! :goodvibes

What a great way to end your vacation! A character breakfast, seeing the castle one last time, your favorite rides, and even some pool time. Perfect!

Aww so sad your TR is over, has been such a blast reading along :)

Love your Stitch interaction, we had a few good ones with him this year too :)

Glad the flight home wasn't as bad as last year, nice that your flight was mostly empty too :)

So sad your TR is over, but what a wonderful trip! I really enjoyed following along with you. :goodvibes

Hi there! I literally just found your TR and I have spent the last week reading the whole thing (when I could squeeze in some time). I am so bummed that I just got caught up in time to realize that you are ending it. I wish I would have found it sooner!

I was just telling my husband that your honeymoon sounds like the perfect trip. Aside from doing a cruise and the parks, you also did really unique things like spa treatments and V&A. I'm so happy for you both that you got to experience such a wonderful trip. Congrats on your wedding!!

Thanks for reading along and your comments! I think I will try to make Mickey chocolate waffles next time - mmm! The Disney Food Blog had a post about chocolate chip waffles recently, they sound great too :cutie:

We'd like to try the other Segway tours now, it was so much fun! I've heard the off-road one at Fort Wilderness is really good, and it would be nice to see a remote part of WDW :thumbsup2

Very jealous you sailed on the Grand Yacht! I think Steve thought I'd booked that one when we got to the marina.. he is used to me surprising him now ;) .. it would be great to book for a special trip in the future though

Thank you for reading along Tracy! I can't believe I've come to the end now, although, it was nearly 5 months ago - time has flown! :goodvibes

Our flight was so empty on the way home - never known them to board in less than 10 minutes for a jumbo jet!

"till" is the UK English word for cash register. :goodvibes

Thanks for answering the question on the 'till' Kate.. that's one of those words I didn't realise we said differently to the USA! :cutie:

awww! sad your TR is over. Looks like you had a wonderful honeymoon tho! Really enjoyed following along with your TR.

Thanks for reading :goodvibes it was a wonderful honeymoon, so many things happened to make it an extra special Disney trip :cloud9:

Hi! I'm enjoying reading all about your wedding & trip to the World :wizard: - the photos you've posted so far have been great, you looked beautiful on the day! princess:

What a great way to end your vacation! A character breakfast, seeing the castle one last time, your favorite rides, and even some pool time. Perfect!

Thanks Mel :goodvibes - it was a great last day, I think going to the Magic Kingdom on our last day will become a tradition now, soak in a bit more of the magic before heading home! :wizard:

Thanks for reading Stefy, I'm looking forward to hearing all about your wedding & honeymoon now! :cloud9:

Stitch was so cute, one of our favourite characters I think :thumbsup2

Yes the flight home was much better this time, and we landed at the right airport with no snow  hehe.
For take off we had to move to the aisle seats in PE, it was that empty?! I guess a week day in early July is not peak time for flights to/from MCO and London.

So sad your TR is over, but what a wonderful trip! I really enjoyed following along with you.

Hi! Thank you so much for reading all the way through :goodvibes - it's been great to share all our experiences, it was unique trip to Disney with lots of happy memories :lovestruc

Emma princess: x

And that concludes my honeymoon trip report!

Thank you so much to every one who has been reading along & commenting – I’ve loved being able to share our trip with other people, especially those who ‘get it’ with the Disney experience and magic! :lovestruc

There is no where else in the world that we could have had such a perfect vacation, it was the best way to begin our married life together& we have so many memories to cherish.
Even though we’ve been to Walt Disney World many times, this trip will always stand out as a special one due to the wonderful things that happened and special experiences we had. :cloud9:

But… there’s one little issue to sort out…..

On our last day at the Magic Kingdom , we were having a lovely morning – when… in line for Space Mountain , I suddenly had a terrible thought.
I didn’t know when we were coming back… I had no future trip booked or even planned!!! :scared1:

I think for the last 5 trips to WDW, I’ve know when I’m coming back – but this trip, there was no return date in sight. So, while in line for Space Mountain , I discussed my ‘concerns’with my husband.. and we quickly agreed on our next trip to the World ……….

October 2012

We’re going to Disney World! :yay:

IMG_1888.jpg

We’ll probably stay 6/7 nights at the Boardwalk; this was one of our favourite times to visit as everything was decorated for Halloween & we absolutely loved the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot. I’m going to phone Disney Vacation Club tomorrow (as our 11 month window opens! :woohoo:) and book a studio from October 7th to 14th.

We’d like to try a new tour.. maybe the Safari Trek at Animal Kingdom…

And we’re looking forward to visiting during the Epcot Food & Wine Festival again!

And.. most definitely go to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!

disney-halloween-parade.jpg

I didn’t book this on our trip in 2008 as I thought it would be “too Disney” for Steve, :rotfl: but after we enjoyed the Christmas party so much last year I have no doubt we’d love this one too!

My parents are planning to be at their house in Bradenton FL next October, so we’re hoping to combine this trip to WDW with a few days on the gulf coast too. :goodvibes

..........

.....

Oh… and one more thing….

June 2013

Our next Disney Cruise!! :woohoo:

22nd June, 7 nights onboard the new Disney Fantasy, Western Caribbean cruise to…

Gran Cayman…

Cozumel..

Costa Maya..

And Castaway Cay..

After our 5 night cruise onboard the Dream, we agreed we could quite easily spend longer onboard a ship, and Mexico is somewhere we’d both like to visit but maybe not stay … so a cruise is perfect! It would also enable me to practice my Spanish a little (I studied it up until University so used to be quite fluent) and experience Disney’s newest majestic cruise ship.

As soon as the 2013 sailing dates were announced a couple of weeks ago, I casually asked Steve if he'd like to go to Remy for our 2 year wedding anniversary.. and he said yes!! :woohoo:
So I contacted our travel agent (who did a fantastic job on our honeymoon) - so the cruise is all booked & the deposit paid! :cool1:

Just 594 days to go

I wasn’t sure about writing a PTR for these trips as I don’t think I’ll have much to say for a while? What do you all think?!

Emma princess: x

Yay for booking your next trip and the Fantasy too, sounds like the perfect Anniversary trip :goodvibes

You have a lot to look forward to especially the cruise. Can't wait to see all the planning and to hear how it was. :goodvibes

Emma, so sorry I haven't posted until now... but I HAVE been keeping up with all of your posts!

Your honeymoon sounds absolutely magical and amazing.. a way a honeymoon should be! I'm so excited for you and your hubby and the beginning of your new lives together.

YAY FOR MORE DISNEY TRIPS AND TR'S (hopefully??)

We REALLY want to go to WDW in October at some point. Especially since DH has a week off from teaching the second week in October. Hopefully soon. After our MR cruise, I don't have any plans for anything....perhaps I'll bring it up during the tequila tasting on our cruise ;):lmao: I'm sure he'll be happy to talk about it during that time! :rotfl:

I really enjoyed reading your TR! You're so fun and you guys are adorable!

Emma, I'm so sad your TR is over! :sad1: I really, really loved getting to follow along with your and Steve not just on the honeymoon, but during your wedding as well. What a fun time this has been! Thank you for sharing it! :goodvibes

And yay for TWO new trips! They both sound amazing! We are thinking about October of next year as well. No dates picked out yet, but I am dying to do F&W and MNSSHP. I vote for starting a PTR asap! I can't wait to hear all of the details! :woohoo:
