A Grand Dream of a Honeymoon - June 2011

Aw I love how all the Princesses have a mini version of them :goodvibes

Good job on the win! I think she'll love it! ....heck, I would! :lmao:

What a lovely event! And I agree with Leshaface, it's nice to see a mini princess with each of them. :goodvibes

Congrats on your win. :thumbsup2

The Disney event sure looks great! :thumbsup2

Yay on winning the Belle barbie doll and I agree that I would love receiving that as a gift hehe :rotfl:

That is awesome you won the Belle doll. Your flower girl is going to love it.

Congrats on winning the Belle Doll, is really cute and your flower girl will love her :)

What a neat event! Congrats on winning the Belle doll. I bet your flower girl will absolutely love it! :goodvibes

Congratulations on winning that twitter contest. Very cool! Congrats!

Thanks everyone - we are seeing DF's niece tomorrow so I'm going to give ther the doll then, I've also got her some Tangled activity books.. hope she likes it! I love that I have someone to buy Disney princess gifts for princess: hehe

Oh my, we do not want any fainting spells! That must have been very frightening. We will make sure to stay well hydrated.:thumbsup2

We will be there from June 24th through July 3rd, 2012...so I believe our best plan is to be at park opening each day, ride our favorites until our lunch reservations and then go back to the resort. Then we can hopefully dodge the showers and return to the parks in the evening. We are quite alright with humid, hot temps...but it would be nice to swim at the peak of the day. :goodvibes

that sounds like a good plan for the summer months :goodvibes we did that most days, then if the weather wasn't good in the afternoons for being by the pool we were happy to stay in our room & get a dvd from the concierge desk or watch tv :cloud9:

Last day - Magic Kingdom

Today was the saddest day of our honeymoon.. it was time to go home! :sad2:

However, we’ve learnt from previous trips to book the later flight back to London (at 7.30pm) which gives us a nice long day to enjoy the parks and Disney magic for just a little bit longer.

We got up about 7am, showered & packed up the last few things. We called bell services and they came up to collect our luggage– the cast member asked me for a surname, and I went to say my maiden name, out of habit, and then had to stop myself and say my new married name! :rotfl:

We said goodbye to our fabulous concierge room, and went down the elevator to the monorail… we were headed to the Magic Kingdom to have breakfast with Winnie the Pooh & friends!

(sorry for the steamed up camera lense…)
IMG_1887.jpg

It was just after 8am and was noticeably busier outside the park than the day before – we asked a cast member near the front where we went for breakfast reservations, she just asked me “what time is your reservation?” (I was expecting to be ticked off a list, like they do at Tusker House in Animal Kingdom) but once I replied, the CM just opened a section of the rope and let us through!

I love strolling up Main Street USA when it’s practically empty – everything is so calm, clean & ready for a new day. We stopped for some Photopass pictures…

Photo0032FourBySix.jpg

There were a few families waiting at the Crystal Palace , we checked in & were handed a buzzer – Steve sat on a bench and I wandered around to take some photos.

Very soon, Winnie the Pooh and friends welcomed us in for breakfast!

We’ve had a few lunches at the Crystal Palace but never breakfast – it was great to try out some of the different dishes & also meet some of our favourite characters.

Our table was decorated with confetti and streamers for our honeymoon..

IMG_1891.jpg

Our server was from England , she congratulated us on our wedding and asked when we’d got married.. it felt funny to say it was over 2 weeks ago already!

We had a wait for the characters, so plenty of time to get our first plates of food…

I started with some fruit, yoghurt (with honey, like Pooh would have!) and Mickey waffles– I hadn’t tried a chocolate one before..

IMG_1892.jpg

The characters marched around with younger guests during the Friendship parade!

IMG_1894.jpg

IMG_1896.jpg

Steve had some hot breakfast items to start, we both really enjoyed the food here – lots of choices (although we liked Boma slightly more for the unusual breakfast dishes they served!)

We had fun meeting the four characters from 100 Acre Wood..

IMG_1908.jpg

Steve was sat with his back to the walk way, so Tigger tapped him on one shoulder & then stood the other side of him.. funny!

IMG_1898.jpg
IMG_1899.jpg

For my second helping, I had some biscuits & sausage gravy (this would be a completely different meal in England if the names were taken literally! :cutie: I really enjoyed this) and managed to find some of the famous Pooh’s French toast.. I didn’t realise that this was on the kid’s buffet area!

IMG_1897.jpg

The restaurant definitely got quieter just before 9am, we weren’t in a rush as we’d visited the Magic Kingdom the day before – it was nice to finish our juice & coffee and enjoy the ambience.

Before bringing the check, our server brought us a fabulous surprise!

IMG_1905.jpg

A special cupcake with a candle in it – as well as a magical moments certificate, signed by all the characters..

IMG_1906.jpg

A great souvenir from a lovely breakfast – made me realise yet again that there was no place like Disney to celebrate our honeymoon.

We left there about 9.15am, and strolled through Adventureland…

Just got all caught up on your trip report. I've really been enjoying it and now I'm sad that it's almost over! :sad1: It sounds like you had a really wonderful honeymoon filled with memorable experiences!

So biscuits and gravy is not a breakfast meal in England? I can't believe, as a country that started as people FROM England, how we have gotten to be so different! :confused3: What would it be if it were literally translated over there?

Thank you for reading along.. I can't believe I'm almost finished writing up our trip too - it was a wonderful vacation :cloud9:

hehe... so - biscuits here are more like cookies, and 'sausage gravy' makes me think of 'bangers & mash' sausages in a meat gravy (do you call those kind of sausages 'link sausage'?)

:cutie:

The last day is always so bittersweet. I'm glad you were getting to enjoy the parks some before you had to leave, though! Since we drive, I always want to hurry up and get on the road, so we never get to do anything fun on our last day. :guilty:

I love the Crystal Palace! I've never seen those chocolate waffles, before! That must be something new.

Oh no on it being your last day :sad2: At least you had a late flight so got to enjoy a full day at Disney.

Great photopass pictures on an empty Main Street :thumbsup2

Love the breakfast at Crystal Palace - we ate here as well and had a great time.

Awhh last day :sad1: Glad you guys get some park time!
Sounds like such a lovely breakfast!
Except being from oz, I was totally picturing a biscuit..like a chocolate biscuit haha wouldn't want to eat that with gravy!

Love love love that last picture of your shadows :goodvibes

Awwww, last day! What a lovely breakfast for your final day at Disney. We ate at CP on our last day and it is so incredible to wander up a practically empty Main Street!

Aww I hate the last day part of a TR, but you spent it in the best park. There's no better way to end your trip than in the MK :)

Hi Courtney! 'bittersweet' is a great way to describe that last day at WDW - I always take ages going through the turnstile on the way out - Steve thinks it's funny! ;)
I hadn't seen the chocolate waffles before - we actually have a Mickey waffle maker so I'll have try making them!
Hope you & Miguel are well :goodvibes

Thanks Tanz - I love being on Main Street USA at that time of day! Just after we had our photopass picture taken, DH said "did you plan this breakfast so we'd get to be here before park opening? :rolleyes1 hehe. I think we would definitely do a Crystal Palace breakfast again.. I'd quite like to have one in the castle too, not sure I'll get DH to hang out with all the princesses though ;)

Oh last day! Sad!!

I've really enjoyed your TR!

Thank you - I can't believe I'm getting to the end now! Loved writing about it and sharing photos with you all ... couple more updates to go :goodvibes

NO! I hate reading about last days...:sad1:

Aww sorry Lesha! I try to make the most of the last day of a WDW vacation... I guess that's the good thing about the flights back to England being at 5-7pm at night :cutie:

Hi! Good to know 'biscuits' are the same in Oz as in the UK! :goodvibes
I was quite pleased with that photo of our shadows - that was actually the only day I wore my bride ears in WDW (couldn't manage to wear them with my big sunglasses!) and we got even more attention for being newlyweds :lovestruc

Hi! We really enjoyed that experience of walking up Main Street USA :cloud9: - I'd first done that when my sister & I did the Keys to the Kingdom tour in 2009, and wanted to share it with DH too!

Aww I hate the last day part of a TR, but you spent it in the best park. There's no better way to end your trip than in the MK :)

Hi Stefy! Yes we love going to MK on our last day, it's sort of become a tradition now... it started on our trip in 2008, we dropped our luggage off at bell services at Saratoga Springs, then agreed we'd go to which ever park the next bus was for... and it was for Magic Kingdom... then we both admitted to each other that we were hoping the next bus was for MK! :cutie:

Hoping to get last few updates done this weekend, between studying :surfweb: ... happy weekend everyone!

I love the Crystal Palace, although it's been years since I've last been. Sounds like you had a lovely meal :goodvibes I LOVE the last picture of your shadows!!!!!! Such a great shot!

Thanks Tracy, we really enjoyed breakfast at the Crystal Palace, I think it's my favourite table service at the Magic Kingdom (although I'm yet to try Tony's Town Square and haven't been to Liberty Tree Tavern since 1996!) :goodvibes

Update on its way....

…..

Walking through a very quiet Adventureland, we decided to ride Pirates of the Caribbean – there was only a 5 minute wait, I think most people go to Tomorrowland or Fantasyland at rope drop as we always find the left side of the park to be much calmer at this time of day!

IMG_1910.jpg

Next up was Splash Mountain, today was all about riding our favourite attractions!

IMG_1911.jpg

Then to the Haunted Mansion..

IMG_1912.jpg
IMG_1913.jpg
IMG_1914.jpg

We had a look around the shops in Liberty Square, I always love the Disney Christmas shops!

IMG_1915.jpg
IMG_1916.jpg
IMG_1917.jpg

We passed through the hub, past the castle where the Dream Along with Mickey show was taking place..

IMG_1918.jpg
IMG_1919.jpg

We walked to Space Mountain and collected some Fast Passes, and then noticed a cute blue alien was just making his way out for a meet & greet! Usually we wouldn’t wait in the long lines that form for characters – but apart from one young boy, we were the first in line to meet him!

Photo0035FourBySix.jpg

Stitch pointed at my bride ears, then pointed at Steve.. so we nodded and said “yup, we’ve just got married!” then he held out his hand to take my hand, so he could look at my rings!

Photo0037FourBySix.jpg

Photo0039FourBySix.jpg

But then.. he tried to take the rings of my finger! (Luckily it was so warm that the rings were stuck in place lol) – the photographer told him off and said “no Stitch, you can’t have those!”… Stitch made a gesture with his paws and the photographer said “yes, I know they’re sparkly but you can’t just take them!”

Photo0041FourBySix.jpg

It was a great character interaction, I’m so glad we stopped for pictures.

Photo0043FourBySix.jpg
Photo0045FourBySix.jpg

I really liked wearing the bride ears this day, I had hardly worn them the rest of the trip as I found it hard to wear my big sunglasses with them; but we got even more attention – other park guests were shouting out “Congratulations!” to us, I even heard one lady say to her husband/boyfriend “Oh.my.god- look they got married here! She has the ears on!” :rotfl:

.....

.......

Then we rode Buzz Lightyear’s Space Rader Spin..

And… guess what my score was?!

IMG_1920.jpg

Steve was livid! I must have hit something special that sent my score up to the maximum points – we were only in the second room too!

Next was one of my favourites… the TTA Peoplemover

IMG_1922.jpg
IMG_1923.jpg
IMG_1924.jpg
IMG_1925.jpg
IMG_1926.jpg
IMG_1927.jpg

When we went through Space Mountain, the lights were all on! (I think this roller coaster looks much scarier like this)

IMG_1929.jpg
IMG_1928.jpg

IMG_1930.jpg

We walked back towards the hub, and caught some of the Move it Shake it Celebrate it parade

IMG_1931.jpg
IMG_1932.jpg

As the hub was packed with people watching the parade, we took the pathway to the side of the castle around to Fantasyland..

IMG_1933.jpg
IMG_1934.jpg
IMG_1935.jpg

Stopping to browse some of the shops..

IMG_1936.jpg

.........

........

We walked back over to Tomorrowland and bought some bottled waters – sat on a bench and watched the world (and two chipmunks!) go by..

IMG_1937.jpg
IMG_1938.jpg

Soon it was time for our Space Mountain fast passes…

IMG_1939.jpg

We decided to ride the train next, and got to see some of the Main Street performers on our way there!

IMG_1940.jpg

IMG_1941.jpg
IMG_1942.jpg
IMG_1943.jpg
IMG_1944.jpg

By this time we were starting to get a little hungry, so decided to get off the train at Frontierland and get some lunch at Pecos Bills.
Steve had a burger & I had a Caesar salad – this meal took our Honeymoon Registry card down to $0 (we’d loved having this, highly recommended!), the Cast Member looked at it and said “oh this one is pretty!”, and put it down next to her till (as it was empty I guess) … so I had to ask if I could have it back, for my scrapbook!
While waiting at the counter, I saw our order get passed down the line to another group of guests, who were all shaking their heads when the Cast Members tried to give it to them – we caught a CMs attention and, sure enough, it was our order! She said sorry, and quickly put two chocolate chip cookies on our tray! It was a lovely gesture, we hadn’t even waited that long.:thumbsup2

We visited the fixings bar then found a table in a nice area outside..

IMG_1947.jpg
IMG_1948.jpg

After lunch and our free cookies, we got back on the train, past Thunder Mountain…

IMG_1949.jpg

And to the part I was most intrigued about – the ex-Toon Town Station! The train had to stop to take on water (it had literally ‘run out of steam’) – so we had lots of time to look at all the great posters about the upcoming Fantasyland..
IMG_1951.jpg
IMG_1952.jpg
IMG_1953.jpg

Back at Main Street USA, we had a look in the shops…

IMG_1954.jpg
IMG_1955.jpg

The park was getting busier, and it was about 1pm… so, very sadly.. it was time for us to head back to the Grand Floridian. :sad1:

Steve suggested we get the monorail to enjoy the air-conditioning!

Waiting for the train..

IMG_1956.jpg

Me pouting that we were leaving the Magic Kingdom for the last time on our honeymoon..

Wow you sure got a lot done Emma! Love all the attractions you went on.

Also what a great interaction with Stitch - that's hilarious that he tried to take your rings off your finger! :rotfl: Love all the photos with him.

Wow at the Buzz Light year score!!! How did you manage that?!

I agree in Space Mountain looking worse than it is - if I had seen that before going on it I would've definitely changed my mind!

Oh no on having to leave MK for the last time...I would be pouting as well! :cutie:

Hi Tanz,

While looking through my photos I realised how much we dart around the Magic Kingdom - not really a clockwise/anti-clockwise plan! That's the great thing when it's just two of you - we could just head to all the attractions we had to do one more time before heading home :cloud9:

I really don't know how I got that score on Buzz Lightyear! Maybe I hit Zurg or something.... Steve thought I'd read about some cheat on the internet and meant to get 999999 ;)

Stitch was so cute, I'm glad the photographer was snapping away during our 'conversation' with Stitch too! :cutie:
