A Giraffe meets the Beach - A Hoilday Lights Extra - Updated 12/23

With all the craziness going on at home and work, I've totally missed both my single digit and one week dance.

So now I hope you'll all join me in my
SIX DAYS TO GO dance
:banana::banana::dance3::dance3::cheer2::cheer2:

Since DH was still not great and now I'm feeling a slight tickle in my throat...I'm going to blame allergies ...I have not yet started packing. This is the longest time I've gone without having things packed and it's starting to drive me crazy! I may have to start using the dining room to become the new packing room since we've taken turns sleeping in the guest room.

Hopefully this weekend suitcases will come down.

And hopefully this weekend you'll both be feeling better! :scared1: It better just be allergies....!

And I'm so in on dancing with you!:dance3::banana::dance3:

Thanks Brook - and I'm still hanging in there. No partying this weekend for me...trying to keep whatever yuck may be coming on at bay!

Not to mention we have a TON to do before Thursday!

Well, I should be jumping up and down with excitement, but my life is continuing down that country song path! :sad2:

First, we lost my grandmother on Monday at 100 1/2, a good long life! We actually did not think she'd make it through last week, but being the strong, stubborn, Southern woman that she was, she lasted 10 days without food or water before passing. I did run out just to see her on Sunday with my parents, so I'm glad I got to do that even if she was not aware we were around. I will be missing her services though since they will take place when we are in Florida. The whole family (aunts, etc.) said to go on the trip so we will.

Well, that was until last night, my dad went to the ER and was admitted. We're not sure what is causing his problem (kinda gross to go into) but I'm praying it's something small. My two sisters are nurses, so they'll be able to interpret what is happening. We should know more later today, but he'll be crushed if he can't go to Florida on Sunday. We'll see what today and tomorrow brings before we make up our minds.

On the good news side (yes, there actually is a small bit of that!) is that my tests results came back good. If I had not gone in there would have been definite trouble down the line as some cells were headed in the wrong direction, but all was caught and good.

I also started to pack...well, put all my clothes stacked onto the DR table and sticking out of the carry-on...still gotta bring down the main suitcase.

Thanks everyone...hopefully I'll have more good news later!

I am sorry about your grandmother but it sounds like you can all be comfortable with having said goodbye to her after a long and fulfilling life.

Lots of good wishes for your father, I hope they can help him to get better in time for the trip and to become healthy again!! :goodvibes

Oh no. All this before the trip! I'm so sorry to hear of it all. How WONDERFUL and amazing that your Grandmother lived to 100 1/2!!!! I'm sure she had incredible stories of her life...I love hearing that kind of stuff.

I hope your Dad is okay, how frightening. He will be in my prayers!

Oh no, so sorry to hear all your troubles. Condolences on your grandma, glad you had the chance to visit. Hoping your dad gets well quickly. Congrats on the good test results!

Fingers crossed everything comes out OK for you.

Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts. He should finally be getting the tests he needs today, so we'll hopefully know what is going on. I know he's exhausted as they never did move him to a room, just kept him in the observation area of the ER. :sad2:

I'll update everyone as soon as I know anything.

As for the trip (I'm praying for good news and carrying on) I'm finally packed. :woohoo: DH will probably pack at ten tonight just to drive me crazy! :rotfl: Once again, I probably have too much, but hey, we don't have to pay for luggage, so I'll bring it. Plus it gives room to bring stuff back.

Also got our boarding passes for SW...got A18 and A19 :woohoo:. We did pay for EBCI both ways. I know some people will say it's a waste, but with my great fear, anything to help is good.

I hope your Dad's test results come back okay. I'll keep him in my prayers.

Kathy

I hope your father will soon be better! How horrible to stay in hospital for so long all the time in the ER! That must be stressful on top of the already bad situation!

When are you leavin? Tomorrow already?? If so, have a great and fantastic trip!! I hope you enjoy the Beach Club!! I will be looking forward to read about your trip afterwards!! :goodvibes

Here's some PD for your dad's test results. pixiedust:

Congrats on getting packed! ;) Hopefully DH won't wait until the last minute, it must be a guy thing as my DH does the same thing! :sad2:

Once again I'd like to give all of you big :grouphug::grouphug: and :flower3::flower3: for your great thoughts and prayers.

Dad got his results back late yesterday (the test was about four hours behind his scheduled time...he was not a happy camper. :sad2:) He is going to be just FINE! :woohoo: They fixed his problem. They wanted him to stay another night, as his blood pressure was high (which he has anyway.) He talked them out of it (which I didn't think was a great idea) as he's been basically stuck in an ER for three days and has not had his regular regiment of medications. The docs did give him the ok, so he finally spent last night at home and should be winging his way to Florida on Sunday!:cool1:

Thank you all for letting me vent on here with everything that went down and for all the prayers...it really does mean a lot to have a support system in a community like this.

And now, we are leaving in ONE HOUR for the airport . So hopefully there will be no crazy lady stories on a plane for Chicago to Orlando! :rotfl:

I may try and post some stuff on Facebook, so if you'd like, just PM me your name there and I'll add you when we get to Florida.

See you from the sunshine state ( I hope,I hope, I hope, :lmao:)

Yay! Great news for your Dad :thumbsup2

You've probably almost reached the Sunshine State, hope you have a GREAT vacation!

I hope you have safely landed at WDW now and can enjoy the trip!!

Wonderful news on your dad, I hope you and him will be able to make wonderful memories on your trip! :goodvibes

Hope you have a great trip, and that your flight is uneventful!

It was a tad bumpy, but we made it!

Yay! Great news for your Dad :thumbsup2

Thank you - he's still a bit tired but he's excited to get down here.

I hope you have safely landed at WDW now and can enjoy the trip!!

Wonderful news on your dad, I hope you and him will be able to make wonderful memories on your trip! :goodvibes

Thanks so much - that's the whole point of this trip as he is getting older, so I really wanted him to experience WDW one more time.

Hope you have a great trip! :goodvibes

Thank you - so far, so good.

Hi from our AWESOME room at BCV. Really wish we didn't have to leave, and hope I still love AKL as much as always.

Hit three parks in one day, but not a single ride. :confused3 :rotfl:

Weather is great, but a little chilly at night for swimming.:sad2:

DH is still maintaining no more WDW trips for a long time. We'll see about that!!! :lmao:

I think we've already had more drinks this trip, than the last two combined!

Best drink EVER in Epcot at F&W...a Cosmo Slush from France.

I just got caught up on your last couple updates - from FB I knew your Dad made it on the trip, but so relieved to read of the good report from the doctors too! :thumbsup2

Also how great to hear about BCV! So glad you enjoyed the resort! As for your DH saying no more Disney for a long time, he says that every trip. We don't believe him anymore! :rotfl:

We made it home from yet another trip that went way to quickly. We have lots of pictures and video to share, and even brought a very special guest with us ;)

Quick overview - found a second home, one argument, special win, beautiful weather, done with a couple of restaurants.

I'll try and get pics uploaded so I can start this for real.
