I realize that this trip report is taking me forever and a day. I mean I only have 89 days until I head to Disney again and at this rate I won't be finished this one. So I'm speeding up.
Jedi and I met up with the others in the gift shop at the end of Star Tours. We spend a fair bit of time in there. Dh helped Jedi pick out a surprise pack of figurines and Cindy found an imitation polly pocket of Princess Leia. As Eeoyre doesn't like star wars he was immune to this gift shop.
After our purchases I noticed it was getting close to an Indiana Jones show time. So I made us all lineup. We were all hungry and I thought we would have time to pop out of the line for a snack run but as soon as we got into the line it started to move. I made us stay in it. Everyone was hungry and cranky. I should have gotten them snacks. We had plenty of time sitting around waiting for the show. They only did a modified show as the weather wasn't great.
We all enjoyed it. It brought back memories of my grandparents for me. The first time I saw it was with them. Until I was 12 my parents took us to Disney each March Break. Then they stopped because my grandparents took that time for vacation and they all worked in the family flower shop together. So I used to come down by myself at March break or Reading week at university and stay with them. They often took me to Disney. At least until I brought Dh with me that last year and then just Dh and I went just ourselves. Anyhow, although and old show, I hadn't seen it in over a decade and I enjoyed it.
We tried to do Lights, camera, motorcars but due to the weather it wasn't running.
But now, we were really hungry. So hungry that we all needed to eat immediately. There were meltdowns. You've heard me describe them all before. So I won't go into it. Let's just say that we split up. Eeoyre and I were happy with pretzels for lunch but everyone else went to Toy story Pizza.
While waiting Eeoyre and I went to the Muppets. He liked it but since he's not really familiar with the Muppets it didn't mean much to him. It was getting crowded in the waiting area. I know they like you to push forward but I had my eye on another spot so I had to deal with Eeoyre getting mad at me for not following the rules.
We met up with everyone at the next Jedi Training. Dh and Poppa stayed with Jedi and Nanny and I took Eeoyre and Cindy to the animation exhibit. If you remember from many chapters ago our to-do list today included this.
We missed the character greeting. They were switching them over but we were just in time for the drawing class. Cindy and I had to sit in the front while Eeoyre and Nanny found seats in the back.
We drew a classic Pooh head. Cindy broke down when her drawing wasn't perfect. She went into her classic pose with her head down and her arms crossed. I never heard the "hummpft". Could be she was modifying it since we were in the front row. The animator saw her do this and try as he did he just couldn't get her back. He was very sweet and obviously upset about upsetting her. She only lasted about two strokes on the page. I made her sit there with me while I finished.
Here is my drawing.
According to Nanny Eeoyre didn't last much longer. He just gave up too but it didn't send him into a tailspin like Cindy.
We missed the HSM parade while we were drawing. We caught the last few minutes of it. Jedi, Dh, and Poppa saw most of it-much to Poppa's dismay. He was looking very bored. He took these cute pictures of Jedi. However he neglected to take any during the Jedi Training.
I haven't mentioned that during the parade the SUN yes folks that is right the sun was out. It was fabulous to feel the sun on our faces. All the kids wanted to do one thing.
"Mom, Can we go back to the hotel and go swimming?"
"Soon" I told them. We still had a few more things to tick off our list here. We had an ADR elsewhere tonight so today would be it for the studios.
Dh said that Jedi was "this close" to being picked as a volunteer for Jedi training. There was another starting and he wanted to take Jedi to try to be a volunteer again. I wasn't quick enough to point out that a photopass photographer was just a few feet away and it was sunny so off they went. My time to "Hummmpft".
The rest of us went to the little mermaid. The clouds rolled in front of the sun again but at least it wasn't raining.
We had 15 minutes to wait for the next showing at 1:40. While we were in line the sun came out again. The whole crowd cheered. I looked around to see what was causing the commotion but it was just the sun. That's how excited everyone was to see it again. The last 5 day of rain was really wearing on everyone.
However, once again the clouds reigned supreme and a light spitting of rain started. Apparently enough to cancel the next Jedi training. I would find that out after watching the little mermaid show.
Last year I remember being rained on from the ceiling. This year there was just bubbles-no rain. Probably just as well as I had had enough rain. It also seemed shorter. But maybe that was just me. Still enjoyable but shorter and less wet. Poppa was happier about it.
Before we left I wanted to try Toy story mania once more. Eeoyre didn't want to. So Nanny and Poppa took him to go get an ice cream while the rest of us decided that an 80-minute wait was just too long.
We left. We did most of the things on my list-the TSM, Indy, Jedi training and animation. We missed the motorcars show and getting a group photopass picture in the matching yellow t-shirts I so lovingly made.
Here are some shots I took on the bus. Sometimes the only way I get a picture of myself is to take it myself. Don't our shirts look lovely covered in plastic?
We got back to our hotel room by 2:50 pm. We made them rest until 3:15 on their beds. Then we went swimming.
The clouds and the sun played hide and seek the rest of the afternoon. Usually the sun was hiding but it came out enough that we got excited. We took our first swimming shots.
After too short a time we had to leave the pool to get ready for dinner. I made everyone wear their yellow shirts again. The good thing about the weather was that you didn't need a complete change of clothes for dinner due to sweating all day. The bad thing was that I didn't get to escape and do laundry.
To find out where we went you'll have to stay tuned. I'll give you hint though. It felt like we were coming home. Click here to find out where Home was
