By 2:15 the main pool had gotten too crowded for the Diamond clan. We moved to the smaller pool near our building.
We didn’t leave without teasing Eeoyre. Even Poppa got in on it.
“Want to go down the slide before we leave?” he asked Eeoyre.
Eeoyre shot him a look that meant no. So we packed up all our pool toys and snacks and moved on.
There were maybe two other families there. One that had the fresh excitement of just arriving. I spent some time watching them. I figured they had four kids under 6. The father was still unpacking their vehicle while the mother took the four of them swimming. Two in water wings and two in blow-up floaty things. Boy did she have her hands full. Once again I felt bad for loosing it on Cindy today. I had nothing to worry about compared to this woman.
My head was pounding again and I wanted to take a shower and start getting ready for dinner so I headed back into the room. Dh followed me. He had some romantic ideas. I had a headache.
All too soon Nanny and Poppa and the three kids exploded into the room. Apparently the sun had held off the rain as long as it could and lightening and thunder had closed the pools.
I washed Cindy’s hair which take some time when she had been swimming a lot and dressed us all back into our matching black and white Mickey and Minnie shirts. We had an ADR for Coral Reef for 4:30.
It wasn’t raining when we left but definitely gloomy. The Epcot bus was the 2nd bus that stopped.
Here we are on the bus.
It started pouring rain the moment we crossed the turnstiles at Epcot. So on went those rain ponchos again. Eeoyre was pretty upset that Cindy had a new poncho and he was still wearing the old original one.
“And can’t you see that I’m too big to be wearing a kid poncho? Just look at the back of my shorts. They are soaked. I want a big poncho.” He continued on in this manner all the way to the restaurant. Because in case you didn’t notice we had no trouble getting ready to go out and we hardly had any wait for the bus so you just knew that someone had to have a meltdown in there somewhere. Thankfully Eeoyre obliged. Dh finally told him to be quiet. We all got new ponchos the next day. I threw these ones out-much to Dh’s dismay.
The restaurant seemed eerie in the darkness of the rain clouds. It was cold and clammy and a lot smaller than I had envisioned it being. The kids were a bit spooked. Which kept them quiet so I didn’t complain. But I was cold, I did have a bad blister and that blasted sinus headache. So I might of complained.
We had to wait to be seated about 20 minutes even though we were on time. Since we were one of the first seatings of the day I was surprised by this.
We didn’t get to sit right next to the aquarium but it was still a good view. A horrible picture but a good view.
We made Eeoyre try something new on the menu tonight. This is big for Eeoyre. You don’t often see the words new and Eeoyre in the same sentence. We all made a big deal out of it. He wasn’t thrilled about trying it. But Eeoyre loves fish. Not breaded fish sticks but actual fish. So we made him try the kids Mahi-mahi. He was skeptical but attempted it and now he says mahi-mahi is his favorite fish.
The meals came with a Lobster soup. I had forgotten about it but Eeoyre is over my shoulder right now reminding me. Dh tried to make Eeoyre try it. He wouldn't. So maybe that would be why it was easy to get Eeoyre to try the fish. It looked alot safer than lobster soup.
I didn’t record what I eat. I think I had the adult Mahi-mahi. I only noted that coral reef had normal sized portions and that I felt full without feeling stuffed and guilty about leaving tons of food on my plate.
I know I had this for dessert.
Baileys and Jack Daniel's Mousse* - topped with a ganache and chocolate cigar
If sweet potato pancakes were the “bomb” than this baileys and JD mousse was the bombdiggity. It was so good. I know I took a picture of it but I can’t find it now. You know it had to be good if I took a food porn picture because I haven’t taken any before. Okay there was the picture of Dh with the potato casserole but he was in the picture eating it. Let’s just say it was darn good. I was on a chocolate high.
Since dinner was early, the night was still young. Of course Eeoyre had had enough. He was still afraid of tropical storms and of illuminations. He really hates fireworks. I convinced him that he would enjoy strolling through innovations. For one it was inside and safe from both storms and fireworks and two they had the wii. Something Eeoyre has been after us to get for a while. Not to worry, Santa brought it this year. I wouldn’t want you to think deprive my poor children.
So that took care of Eeoyre. Cindy and Jedi wanted to do Crush. So we headed to the Seas. Nemo was a run on again. It took us longer to take our ponchos off at the entrance than it did to run through the queue.
We walked into a half empty room for Turtletalk with Crush. Cindy was called on by Crush. She was thrilled. Cindy asked, “What is your favorite color”
“I don’t know little lady. What’s yours?”
Cindy thought for a bit and replied, “I don’t know”
Then Crush asked her “What’s your favorite food?”
Again Cindy thought for a bit and answered, “I don’t know”
So Crush tried again “Well, what did you have for lunch?”
If you think back to our day we didn’t really have lunch. We had brunch at 10:30 and then dinner at 4:30. So Cindy didn’t know what to answer. She went again with.
“I don’t know”
“Well, what did you have for breakfast?”
“I can’t remember” was her answer this time.
“Humm, yeah well life is tough some time. I often forget too. Hey, by the way, do you know my friend Dory?”
Crush went on to the next child.
Dh and I were mortified that Cindy couldn’t remember anything she ate today but not Cindy. She was thrilled just to talk to him. She was so pumped up.
We spent some time exploring the tanks after that. The kids and Dh get a big kick out of it. I kept trying to move them on as we were going to Seaworld on Monday and would see more of this then. I might as well have been talking to myself. So finally I gave in and enjoyed just watching them watch.
After they had their fill we talked about our next plan. Cindy wanted to go back to Mexico and do the ride the boys went on while she was shopping. Jedi wanted to go to soaring again. Dh was trying to talk him into Test Track. Anyhow it was clear that we needed to split up. So Cindy and I left them.
I heard later that they walked to Test Track but the wait was 80 minutes so they did Mission Space instead. Whichever one is the quieter version. I haven’t done it. Then they headed home after.
I now that Eeoyre, Nanny and Poppa did indeed make it to inventions. That they found the wii and that they looked around for all of 15 minutes before Eeoyre got anxious and wanted to go back to the room.
Well, Cindy and I had a full night. We practically closed the park. We went to Mexico and rode the ride. We skipped the shops. We saw the Chinese acrobats. We missed half their show looking for them as it was still raining so they moved indoors. We felt bad that Eeoyre missed them. The first thing Cindy said to me was “Eeoyre would have loved this!”
We got a strawberry slushy at the outpost and attempted to walk the world. I got a crepe in France. It was just okay. Cindy looked at the bakery in France but nothing there excited her.
We had a photopass photographer take our picture in France. Here we are.
Then I let Cindy pick a pearl in Japan. It was a pinkish 6 ¾ one. We choose a setting for a necklace for $32 and since I knew we would be back at Epcot tomorrow I said we would be back tomorrow to pick it up. We looked around a bit after that but didn’t buy anything. We were trying to make it to Mousegears before illuminations but didn’t quite make it. Besides we were too pooped to shop. My head was pounding again and my blister was beyond pounding. It was just numb.
But not too pooped to miss another photopass opportunity. We had this taken on our way out.
We did make the bus just as the fireworks were starting. See what a good Diser I am. I knew how to avoid the crowds just skip the fireworks. As we headed towards the back of the bus to sit by the warmth of those back seats I heard
“Do you Dis?” in an English accent.
It took me awhile to respond. I’m sure she had to repeat herself but it was DisneyJo and her family. DisneyJo had noticed the limegreen mickeyhead on my bag.
She had just returned from a large dismeet. I did recognize her name but not the other’s she mentioned she was meeting. I told her I was doing a trip report and she said she would look for it.
We talked for a few moments before I collapsed into the seat beside Cindy. I wish I had taken more time to talk to her but I was just so tired.
Tomorrow we would be Nannyless. Magic Express was picking her up at 4am Yuck! But when I got back to the room I found this by my phone.
A 2008 pin for each of the kids.
I also found the flower pendant for me. I know I took a picture of it but I can't seem to find it right now.
Anyhow, Thanks Nanny!
I had a hot tea and a hot bath in hopes of steaming out my sinus pain before heading to bed.
Up next how would we fare without our matriarchal head? And the Mother of all Meltdowns. It’s finally arrived. Who pushed me to the edge? Click here to find out.
