A few more questions about Cypresse Pointe

The studio we had did not have a kitchen. It was one room with an open bathroom. I don't know if they are the same as a 1BR or not. We were in the older, cheaper section.

My understanding is that there is no such thing as a 1-bedroom. There is the studio and the 2-bedroom, and if you rent both, it's considered a 3-bedroom. And yes, if you were in the studio, I imagine you would get some noise from the 2-bedroom, because we heard noise from the studio when we were in the 2-bedroom. FYI, we just arrived home Saturday night after 11 nights there, so if anyone has any other questions, I'll be glad to try and answer them.

I have a question for you Musky.

If you are reserved for CP Grand Villas, will you get switched for the older side at check-in? Also, did you call ahead for any requests such as a non-smoking room? I think this place looks like a nice resort, but have never stayed there before. How was your stay?

Sweet Maxine, I doubt if they would be willing to switch you to an older Phase I room if you have reserved a Grand Villa. The price of the older units is quite a bit less, so your deposit would be wrong and your entire bill would have to be reconfigured. Of course you can always ask, but I would greatly surprised if they would be willing to do this. I did not call ahead for any special requests, but when you make your ressie online, there is a space for comments, and I asked for a first-floor room if possible. I did get a first-floor room, but the girl at check-in said that we were lucky, that a lot of people request first-floor rooms and don't get them. I must have made my ressie far enough in advance. As far as our stay, it was kind of strange. Overall, we were pleased with the place and would probably go back, but we had a couple of major problems. The refrigerator in our unit didn't work when we got there, and we had to ask twice to have it fixed. The toilet in the second bathroom kept clogging and overflowing and there was a plunger right there beside the toilet so this must be a common occurence. Every time we would use the washing machine, water would leak out from under the wall into the kitchen. We never called maintenance about it because it wasn't until we were almost ready to leave that we put two and two together and realized the water was coming from the washing machine. We kept coming out in the morning and stepping in puddles of water and thinking we had spilled something. And the floors were very slippery when wet so we darn near killed ourselves several times falling. We did tell them about it when we left. Then the volcano pool quit working about halfway through our stay and they never got it fixed while we were there. This probably doesn't sound so bad because you could still swim in it, but it was obviously the volcano part of it that chilled the water. Within a couple of days the water was so hot that you couldn't stand to swim in it. But the worst part was that my DH found two roaches under a pile of laundry we had sitting in the hall - one dead and one alive. Now, in all fairness, the place looked absolutely immaculate and I know roaches are everywhere in the south. And on our way home we stayed at a Ramada Inn in South Carolina that also looked immaculate, and I saw a roach in it. So perhaps it's just impossible not to have them in the south, but we don't have them at home and it really grossed us out. But, the place was beautiful, luxurious (by our standards, at least), comfortable and it at least *appeared* to be clean. I can see why they're refurbishing the old units, though - they obviously need it.

Thanks for your response, and your review of your stay.

The reason I asked about switching was because I want to be guaranteed a villa at CPGV, and not be switched at check in to the older section if possible. I say that because I am renting with an RCI exchange I received through the GETO network. I'm just leery that maybe this type of ressie, like a skyauction ressie, might be treated a little differently at check-in.

I was told to call about a week before arriving to request a non-smoking villa. I called this afternoon to check on that.

Is the volcano pool actually located in the older section, and if so, about how far is the walk to that pool from the CPGV? I get so mixed up when reading about these two places. It's my understanding that the turtle pools are at the CPGV, but we also want to go to the volcano pool for the slides.

About how long did it take for you to make the drive to the Disney parks?

sweet maxine,

Try this satellite view of Cypress Pointe to help orient yourself:

TerraServer

At the very left side of the image is Apopka-Vineland road with the entrance to CP about centered. From the left, just above center, is Staybridge Suites, with the tan roofs. Next, to the right, the group of buildings with the white roofs is Cypress Pointe. To the right of the J-hook shaped road, the next group of buildings with the white roofs is CPGV. The turtle pool is visible in the lower right area of CPGV. On the CP side, the volcano and pool are visible; the pool being just to the lower left of the tennis court and the volcano is the tan area at the top center of the pool. Parked cars are also visible, so this gives a relative size as to how far to the pool. The entire resort is only about a quarter mile across.

Above CP, the large white building is the Winn-Dixie, the large group of brown buildings below CP & CPGV is Blue Tree Resort. The Sheraton Safari is in the extreme lower left corner of the picture.

This site is also zoomable and scrollable so look around, see what else you can find.

Does anyone know how many beds are in the studio portion? We are booked here for 2 nights thru Perfect Travel Co. and there will be 4 of us. They told us we have a l bedroom unit, but if the l bedroom unit is actually a studio, I'm concerned about having enough beds.

Do a search for Cypress Pointe Floorplans, or go to hotel kingdom.com and put in any dates and then when the hotels come up click on Cypress Pointe. Click on info and it should bring up all of the floorplans for you. This should help you a great deal. If you got a studio and your planner tells you it is a one bedroom, then I bet, that is exactly what you got. A one bedroom, with one bath, all in the same room, no dividers.

Yes, the 1 bdrm is a studio. Cypress Pointe has one king bed, CPGV has one king bed and 1 sleeper sofa in the same room.
