1. does the water that is in the fountain system in the hotels purified or is like tap water?
2. has anyone ever taken a brita for the room to refill water bottles? does it help with the taste of Florida water?
3. does Disney sell gallons of milk? if so any idea how much?
4. will anyone be at all star movies 12th-14th with a vehicle and planning on going to a grocery store near disney?

The only question I can answer is the 2nd one. We will be bringing a whirlpool "every drop" filter with us to fill water bottles. It's more convenient then the pitcher IMO and portable in case I want to bring it to the park.

The water is not filtered, its gross. Even the soda/ice tea tasted nasty. We brought our pur filter last year, and it didn't help much at all. This year we just stopped and got a ton of bottled water right before we got there since we drove. The resorts dont sell gallons of milk either.

By the "fountain system", do you mean drinking fountains or the system where you get your sodas in your mug? Drinking fountains all over property we find nasty and do not drink. Water in the soda fountain system is fine....it taste as good as most bottled water. I'm picky about my water, so not crazy about it but it is drinkable.

We have seen a gallon of milk at WL before, but it has been quite a few years ago. They have 1/2 gallons most everywhere. A gallon will run about the normal price of a 1/2 gallon off site but will fit into the room frig. A gallon will only fit if you remove the middle shelf. We sometimes find that the frig does not keep things as cold as we might like and we feel better buying smaller containers of milk in hope that it is easier to keep colder.

I WISH we were going to be there when you were, but sadly no:sad2:

Regarding the third question I know that the DVC resorts at least have milk in the gift shops (I can't remember if it was gallons or half-gallons) and I think I remember seeing at least quarts on our last trip to Pop.

Have you thought about having groceries delivered? We're having 2 half gallons of milk (so they fit on the door of the fridge rather than having to remove a shelf for a whole gallon to fit) and a case of water. That way we don't have to worry about a filter or anything. Garden Grocer has a website and their prices are comparable to the prices here at home. It's not like their marked up or anything like that. So we are placing an order and it will be there waiting for us when we arrive. I've heard wonderful things about them but this is our first time ordering. I just thought it might be an alternative to your questions.

We used garden grocer when we stayed at the Cabins and they were great. We had a ton of stuff delivered since we had a full kitchen. They had delivered it and put it all away by the time we got there and checked in. Their prices were good and they had everything we needed. We plan on ordering a couple cases of water and pop and some snacks for our next trip.

I didn't pay that much attention but I am fairly sure I saw milk at POR, my dh got a 6 pack of beer in the gift shop and I thought I saw milk. I don't remember well enough to say for sure but I'm 90% sure I saw milk too.

I brought a filtered water bottle. I'm picky about water, I can taste the chlorine in city water so I knew I'd probably have issues. The water bottle had a charcoal filter and it worked very well at removing the taste (and I did try a sip straight out of the water fountain...nasty!)

I've used Garden Grocer at least three times and have had a wonderful experience each time - I'll be placing another order for our next trip. Prices might be more than your local grocer, but they're definitely less than the shops at the hotel. Their customer service is good, too, and it's so nice to have some comfort foods for the little kids back in the room. We always get a bunch of bottled water, milk, and also some sort of breakfast food (cereal/bagels/nutragrain/etc) so that we can have a quick breakfast while we're getting ready so we don't waste precious morning hours in the parks. A few snacks are nice to have on hand, too. Mmmm, now I'm getting hungry. popcorn::

If I order milk & yogurt through Garden Grocer (delivery), will the Poly be able to keep it cool until I can get it my fridge in our room??

We’ve stayed at All-Star Movies for 3 of our 4 trips. They have milk for sale by the ½ gallon in the food court. I order from Garden Grocer though. I get milk, bottled water, fruit, various juices, snacks, bagels, cereal and other things. No one wants to pay $3 for a bottle of water and I’d rather use my 1 daily snack credit on something fun like ice cream or frozen lemonade.

Very happy with Garden Grocer. They are 4 for 4. Never an issue. I’ll continue to use them. They have a lot of choices as to bottled water. On our first 3 trips I usually had some left over so on our 4th I got some kid-sized ones for my children. My son especially loved his.

And our resort did keep perishable items. On one trip we arrived after our order did (stuck in traffic on I-4). They put only the non-perishable stuff in the room and brought the perishable items to me once I got there.

Tap water. Foul, foul tap water.
2. has anyone ever taken a brita for the room to refill water bottles? does it help with the taste of Florida water?
Tried that last year... still foul. Better if you ice it and add a Crystal Light packet. Personally, I am a huge fan of (good) water and somewhat of a purist, so I don't love the Crystal Light option; but I love it more than throwing out sixteen empty plastic bottles every day.

Love the idea of having water delivered, although it doesn't help much with the environmental aspect of the problem. This year I'm thinking maybe have a big five-gallon jug delivered to the resort and bring a Camelback. Those things are the JAM.:cool1:

If we have a car we pick up water or we get it delivered by Staples, but I always carry a Brita filter bottle because there is only so many bottles you can carry to the park, so it comes in handy. I find it to be ok and I am a bottled water person. I do the crystal light packet thing too, but remove the filter on the bottle.

Yes. All of the Disney resorts have the ability to refrigerate items for you. Garden Grocer packs everything nicely so that your cold stuff is bagged separately from the stuff that needs no refrigeration. I have ordered cheese, yogurt, and milk for stays at value, moderate, deluxe, and DVC properties. GG is great and so are the resorts' bell/delivery staffs.
