A Dole Whip in my hand & my toes in the sand: CBR/Poly Split Stay – This Is The Life!

Shelly- your kids are a riot. I love the pic of them on Big Thunder! Your DS12 looks like he is loving every minute of it, DS10 on the other hand...not so much!:rotfl: And too funny about DS10 narrating his way through Haunted Mansion!
Hope all is well with you...how is DH feeling? We had a major storm last night. We live on the North Shore of MA, and we had a rain/hail/thunder/lightning storm come in at 5AM and it lasted until 7AM. Our town was on the news...we got 5.8 inches of rain in 2 hours!:scared1: They cancelled school (including my college girls who go to school in the next town over). Needless to say, we stayed in all day. It was nice having the day off!

Thanks Lauren!

Yes, DS12 was loving it!! DS10 could do without any type of thrill ride. :confused3 He's like his dad that way. :upsidedow

DH is doing well, thanks for asking. He still has another 2 1/2 weeks off work though.

Wow that sounds like quite the storm you had! :scared1: But yay for a day off work!! :yay:

Shelly, your oldest son is so much like my oldest daughter Morghan. Dare devil! :scared1: And my younger daughter Mykenah is just like your younger son; not a fan of the thrill rides. Isn't it crazy how different siblings can be? Great update! :thumbsup2 I'm glad you were having fun in MK with low crowds. That is the BEST!!!

I often wonder that myself - how can 2 kids that live in the same house being raised by the same parents be so very different in personality?!! :confused3

MK was awesome that morning!!:yay:

ME TOO! ME TOO! I've done that too!! Congratulations Shawna!!

:lmao:That made me LOL!

Shelly - you are so lucky! You get to go on all the rides because at least one of your kids likes every one you want to go on! I wish I could handle them better like I used to, but I'd be going on many of them by myself.
"Hernia Harry sat out"...

Yes, I usually get to ride just about everything! :goodvibes

Hernia Harry just didn't think he could handle BTMRR. . . :confused3:rotfl:

Shelly- just thought I would let you know...we switched back to the Poly! We are crazy. But...I was able to get quite a discount on the Poly (GF wasn't available with the discount), and saved over $1,500! We are so excited. I was so torn with switching back to the GF, but now I cannot change my mind again! I don't think I will want to anyways...just read your review of the Poly again and showed DD's pictures! They are thrilled. We have no school again today due to flooding!

What is it about MK? You go in thinking you'll just ride a couple of things or eat one meal and then you get drawn in and can't seem to get out of there. :confused3 I guess it's the magic! :wizard:

You guys seemed to handle the heat very well so far. Are you convinced that you can go again at that time of year?

Since your kids love the corn dogs nuggets, have you ever tried the ones at Walmart? They are State Fair brand in a blue box (frozen foods dept.). I served them one night at VBS this summer and the kids went nuts over them. I've never had the ones at Casey's so I can't compare them for you, but I think they would be worth a try anyway.

I know, we totally weren't expecting that great of a day with it being a Saturday and with the heat, but it sure ended up to be awesome! :goodvibes

We did so much better in the heat than I thought we would. The kids used their little mister fans a lot and there was very little complaining! We would definitely go that time of year again.

I have bought State Fair corn dogs before. DS10 likes them, but DS12 doesn't. :confused3 Go figure. :rotfl:

Sounds like a great day at MK! The pics of your DS's are hilarious :lmao:

I'll be there the day after tomorrow!!! :cool1: Can't wait! I still haven't finished packing :rolleyes1

I'll get there.

Also - Did any of you see this? This was super cute:lovestruc

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su1YLAjty-U

Thanks Heather! :)

:scared1::scared1::scared1: You haven't finished packing yet??? :faint:

That is a very cool video! :thumbsup2

HM and BTMR are my DS's absolute favs.!!!! They want to ride them over and over. When we rode BTMR on our trip first thing in the morning we rode back to back b/c nobody was waiting!!! Who said it's crowded in August!? We never waited for rides. we rode HM a few times that day too. It was great.
I need to make a new ticker!!! We booked our flights today for April vacation. So excited!!!! Had to share. :)
Deb

We got to ride BTMRR back to back with no wait too during our trip. It was so cool, we even got to pick our seats!! I loved the August crowds - or lack of them I should say!! ::yes::

Congrats on booking your next vacation! Did you get a good deal on airfare?

Uh, Shelly's going to have a stroke if you don't finish packing soon!

::yes::

:scared1:

:faint:

:lmao:

OK. I guess I'll do it - for Shelly

I don't know what my problem is this time. :confused3 I am usually packed, with park touring plans, least crowded park charts, entertainment schedule, park hours, weather forecast etc etc etc ... But this time. Nothing. Nada.

Maybe it's because it's such a short trip that I am just winging it, or maybe it's because the reservation is under our friends names so I feel like "it's all taken care of". IDK. But, all I know is that in the next 24 hours I have A LOT of work to do :faint:

You better get on it!!!
My oldest DS turned 13 a month ago! I can't believe I'm old enough to have a teenager.
We haven't done CP in about 10 years, we are doing Chef Mickeys for breakfast on our upcoming trip (we've only ever done it for dinner).
I can't believe your whole family doesn't do HM! That is our favorite!

Yep, that's what I say -- I'm not old enough to have a teenager!!

IDK why DS12 doesn't care for the HM. :confused3 DH and I take turns riding it with DS10 because he loves it!

Wow!! :yay: That is awesome! How did you get the Poly discount? Are there new discounts out?

I want to go back to the Poly!!!!

I know! I can't wait!
I actually found the discount by looking on the WDW website under "Special Offers." I was shocked to see a discount code for my dates! :yay: I called right after I saw the discounts (about 9:30 this morning) and was told there were no more GF rooms, but there were Poly garden views available. I went ahead and took that! I couldn't justify NOT saving that $1,500. I didn't think I would be able to get the discount at first, since I was within 45 days, but the woman on the phone was very nice and took care of me!

[/QUOTE]

We got to pick our seats too the boys ran up front!! :woohoo:
I did get a good deal- however I live in MA and always fly out of RI (closer to us) but there were no flights left when I decided we should go. My parents have a timeshare in April so it's a no brainer to go with them for nothing. I was reading on the transportation board that SW flights out of Hartford were way cheaper than PVD. So I checked it out and OMG for a 2 hr. drive to CT I got $99 down and $159 home! I have never paid that little for April!!!! :yay:
I am so excited b/c we weren't even sure we were going to Disney next yr. DH and boys wanted to go on a cruise but since I'm still unemployed I thought we could just do this instead. I am so EXCITED!!! We weren't gonna tell the boys but my DS14 overheard me telling my sister. He was happy I told him not to tell DS10. I'd like to surprise them since they didn't think we were going anyway. sorry so long.
Deb :)

I want that calendar!!! Does it start with the last few months of 2011? My current calendar is falling apart so I was hoping to find one that I could use to finish off 2011 & continue through all of 2012 when we are there in November! :thumbsup2

And I have those post-its! Have you used them yet? They don't work all that well...

I didn't realize there were fall room discounts out! Good for you!! :cool1: I'm jealous!

We chose to sit up front once and then in the back the next time. DS12 is sure that the back goes faster than the front!!:rotfl:

Congrats on your great airfare deal! :goodvibes That will be a fun surprise for your DS!

Yep - it's a 16 month calendar! Starts with Sept of this year!!

I haven't even opened up the post its. Too bad they don't work so well. Oh well, they are cute anyway!:)

:car: Catching up from page 5. :rolleyes1

Sorry to hear Via Napoli was a disappointment. :sad2: I love pizza but it honestly doesn't look too different from one of our local pizza places that makes authentic Italian pizzas- only a heftier price tag!

Glad you got your necklace from Epcot! Would have been nice if they had thrown in that $37,500 castle for free!

Loved the faces at Club Cool while tasting the Beverly! I just jotted down get the kids and DH to try the Beverly at Club Cool on my to do list for Epcot. :thumbsup2

Fantastic crowds at MK- how cool to be almost alone in Philharmagic!

And last but not least....Happy Belated to DS10!!!! :cake:party::bday:

Shelly you just reminded me that I need to go check the Disney Store for a calendar since we are not heading to WDW this month.

Sorry to hear nothing panned out for you to do a winter trip. I checked dates and ran number this am but since I want to keep CR TPV dates were somewhat limited, I also checked on November ( yes I still want to see WDW all decked out for Christmas) but in the end we decided to stick with March and see if they do not maybe offer a RO deal for then since it will cost us another $200 to change our flight plus if the flights are more. We were thinking if we could book mid February but all that was available then was Bay Lake CL which really wouldn't save us any money over the FD on a non-CL room.

DS12 is sure that the back goes faster than the front!!:rotfl:

Congrats on your great airfare deal! :goodvibes That will be a fun surprise for DS.

He's right I heard the back of roolercoasters feel like you're going faster.
Thanks I'm really happy as you can tell!!! :yay:
Deb :)

"Hernia Harry sat out"...

I totally forgot about you doing that!! i was thrilled! Let's hope we get some keepers!!....oh well...if not, they were for trading anyway!
::yes::

:scared1:

:faint:

You better get on it!!!

Yep, that's what I say -- I'm not old enough to have a teenager!!

IDK why DS12 doesn't care for the HM. :confused3 DH and I take turns riding it with DS10 because he loves it!

I am not old enough to have a child saving to buy a car!!!:scared1:

Procrastination. It looks good on me. Sorry I'm late. Again. Promise to do better now. ;)

You really had no crowds to contend with that day! That is just wonderful. Hernia Harry sitting out of BTMRR is a good thing. :rotfl:
I think my kids are convinced that the back is a better ride As well as riding at night. It seems to go faster once it's all greased up or something. ::yes::

HM is so much fun. I'm glad DS10 likes to ride that one with you since he isn't much for the bigger rides. Gives you some good one on one time.

The construction is a total downer. I will be so happy when it's over with.

Great update!!! Can't wait for more!

Hi :wave2:

I found this report and I'm all caught up - sorry I'm so late to the party. Looks like you guys had a great trip - can't wait to hear more about it! I also read your reviews of Poly and CBR - glad to hear you had great resorts too! :thumbsup2

Hey Kim! :goodvibes Glad you are all caught up!

Yeah, VN was just okay. And way overpriced!

You are right, they should have just thrown in the castle with a necklace purchase! ::yes:: :rotfl:

Thanks for the b-day wishes for DS!

I wish I would have known you were changing your trip, I could have picked you up a calendar!!

I've still been doing all the Disney math every which way trying to squeeze in a short trip, but between school, and work, and only being able to get cheap airfare on certain days, it's nearly impossible!:upsidedow

I hope a room discount comes out for you for March! :wizard:

He's right I heard the back of roolercoasters feel like you're going faster.
Thanks I'm really happy as you can tell!!! :yay:
Deb :)

I've heard that before too. Must be true!

I am not old enough to have a child saving to buy a car!!!:scared1:

:scared1: That is enough to make you feel old!! DS keeps reminding me that he can drive in less than 4 years.

Procrastination. It looks good on me. Sorry I'm late. Again. Promise to do better now. ;)

Well hello stranger

:rotfl:

Yes, it was a wonderful day at MK! Too bad for Hernia Harry though and having to sit out BTMRR and all.

I'm glad DS10 loves the HM too! He misses so much by not doing too many thrill rides.

Welcome! :goodvibes Better late than never! Besides - we are only on day two. Lots more to come!! :cool1: So glad you have joined us!

When I left off we were on the bus back to CBR from MK....

It rained the whole way back to CBR and it was still raining when we got off the bus and we could tell it was going to start to rain even harder by the minute, so we ran to our room!! We got there and talked about what we would do the rest of the day.

2e80271d.jpg

On the schedule I had to either go back to MK that evening or to go to DTD. I didn't care which we did and everyone else was all for DTD. So we decided to rest for a little bit before we headed out. Pretty soon it started to pour. Hard!! :scared1:

You really can't tell here but the courtyard was just laying in water.

aa837be8.jpg

After an hour or so we were ready to head out. But the rain had other plans. It just kept raining and raining. And it was such a hard & steady rain that you couldn't just put on a poncho and go. So we waited. And waited. Finally it started to lighten up and we decided to go for it! So the rain really only put us back about an hour longer than we wanted.

7de81a77.jpg

We hopped on the bus to DTD and were there in no time! We did a little looking around but decided we wouldn't buy anything until after dinner.

Up Next: Pollo Campero dinner

We had skipped lunch since we had such a big (and late) breakfast, so we were all getting hungry. We had previously decided to try the new Latin chicken place in DTD – Pollo Campero. So we headed straight there before doing any real shopping.

It is very big and nice and new in there!

DS10 ordered chicken strips and fries.

663344ec.jpg

DS12 had chicken strips and chips.

DH had grilled chicken and rice. And I had grilled chicken and chips.

3f8ddf3b.jpg

There is a salsa bar for your chips.

And since we were on the DDP we each got to pick a dessert from the bakery. We all chose the chocolate frosted donuts.

f96c6bbd.jpg

Everything was very good except for the donuts!! :scared1: Can you believe that? How can you mess up a donut? They were nasty. Weird spices. Yuck!

Total Bill: Not sure.....since we were on the DDP the receipt doesn't give the prices and I didn't see the register total. I'd guess it was around $40
Rating: 8 out of 10

Next Up: DTD Shopping!
