A DisneyWorld Lifer is going to Disneyland-the saga ends...

Everything!

No really...

You plot, I'll follow.

We prefer rides to shows and parades...with the exception of the Electric Parade and Aladdin.

Soarin, TOT, all the mountains, POTC, IASW, etc. Even Roger Rabbit and Monster's! Screamin, the Matterhorn...

Wil and Paul would probably appreciate some guy time...

Britt, Stef, Rose and Me will have to hit TOT sometime too~My crew LOVES that ride at WDW. Britt's favorite is riding it at night and looking out over MGM all lit up. We have 3 days to cover that one tho...no worries.

Aladin can be a long wait. We might have to bribe the boys to get seats while you are running around. Unless you are ok with seating in the balcony. I think you can always get a seat, but not in the front (near front) unless you wait for (hmmmm, we've waited an hour or more) which is a long time in 2 day cover everything attack. Toon Town(Roger rabbit) is also hard to hit in 2 days, but I'm sure if you are willing to dog it all over the park (specially during the parades) then you can hit everything. We'll have to get FP for Space & Splash Mountains and they are on opposite sides of the park, so that is a planning moment we'll have to confer on when there. Soaring and TOT & CA Screaming & river rapids are Ca Ad FP. Again must be coordinated to make them work.... usually we have a person(s) act as a FP runner and join up at the next location, so that is doable on this trip to of course. I don't do roller coasters except Space, so I can run the CA AD FP no problem. to do this the runner needs to hold tickets for each person. FYI....(same as in the world of course)

FP lingo - Understood!

I'm ok with balcony seating, I just want to see the show...

We technically have 3 days!

DL is open til midnight our first night and I asked Rose (one last time) if she's sure she wants to drive to Anaheim.

Your flight still has seats available and with the price of gas going up again we could really save some dough if we flew.

Nope. Still drivin...

Rose is the independant driver type. I just follow, she drives.

Rose is also good at getting up early, I still see us getting to DL by 5.

From San Jose to Monterey is what? An hour? I get my pictures of the coast and we drive. Except for bathroom breaks I see us driving straight thru. We should be in Monterey by 8 or 9 and at the hotel no later than 5.

Have I ever told you guys her nickname is "Lady Leadfoot?" :scratchin

Debbie and Nan, are we all set for the game?

Dinner at the park is my plan, nice and early to see warm ups. I even know what train we're taking, rt 10, right to the stadium.

First night, the 24th, what do we do for dinner?

We live next to cities that aren't very safe to walk in at night, how is San Fran at the Wharf at night? Can we eat there or is this where we invite ourselves over to Debbie and Jeff's for dinner?

The 26th will be in San Jose, how's the Pruneyard for food? Shall we eat dinner in SF or SJ that night? Can we BBQ at the Skjervens???

The 27th depends on when we get in. If it does wind up late we'd have to eat on the road. Anything in LA we should stop at for dinner?

---I gotta get more info on San Diego!---

I need shuttle info, restaurant info, what is there near the Zoo or Sea World?

Rose still hasn't told me what time share~

We beach it one day, La Jolla and Coronado. Cali beach and Sea Lions, oh my!

and then give up the car. The timeshare should have something. The last three days we need transport to SW, SDZ and the airport. I guess that's what I work on next~

it's not the time between sj and los angeles, it's the time once you hit LA. you can be stuck in traffic forever, it doesn't matter how fast you drive you are just stuck. I'm even concerned about us getting from the airport to Dland, because if we don't have entry into the park early enough they may sell out (crowd out) and not let more guests in. even if you have a ticket, you may not get let in. (unless you have an earlier hand stamp) Things are just different there now, the crowds are unreal, never have seen them like this before....

Debbie and Nan, are we all set for the game?

got both your checks today, thanks. I'll mail your tickets tomorrow Debbie, snail mail to your p.o. box as noted on your check.

yes, that was our plan most likely too.

First night, the 24th, what do we do for dinner?

We planned on visit at our place/lunch from the airport then taking you to the city but not hanging around too long (school nite) the city is very walkable and you can find lots to eat.

the city is very walkable, safe and you can find lots to eat. You'd need a car to get over the bridge to their house, or a long $$ cab ride

The 26th will be in San Jose, how's the Pruneyard for food? Shall we eat dinner in SF or SJ that night? Can we BBQ at the Skjervens???

wing it, bbque if the weather is good or eat at Pruneyard, this is the night of the movies too, it might play at pruneyard, that would be nice and easy...lots of resturants around there too.

The 27th depends on when we get in. If it does wind up late we'd have to eat on the road. Anything in LA we should stop at for dinner?

Got it!

Thank you :worship:

Pray for us DL doesn't sell out our first night...I guess we'll play this one by ear. I thought for a second maybe you should activate our tickets when you get there but we could wind up wasting the pass huh?

As long as the city is walkable we'll be fine to find food. I guess you're right about the car thing...oops...Brittany and me will be fine, maybe I'll take her over to Pier 39 :scratchin

If the movie and the food are at the Pruneyard I am totally cool with doing everything from there. Rose'll have a car by then if we decide to go anywhere further than the hotel.

Here are from in the resturant...

is this the shot (different time of day I know you are looking at sunset, correct?)

Yes!

I like both angles.

Our table is inside but they told me I can walk outside to take pictures.

If we kept the 4PM they said we wouldve been outside

Now that I really look at them...

The angle of the first one is nice but the angle of the second one is what I am really looking for.

Rose and I had our Final Pow wow yesterday...

We have a month to go and are hashing out all the final details. She's gonna find out about getting on a tour to Alcatraz. She also needs to set up her own transport from SF airport to our hotel...the hotels doesn't offer anything but they gave Rose the number to a bus company that does. $15 per person isn't bad right?

Stefanie (Rose's DD) has yet to hear back from the Price is Right. That's one of Stef's Must Do's for our trip.

Rose showed me the time share's we are staying at for the second leg of the trip. She owns Fairfield, the Anaheim one is only a mile away from the DL. The San Diego Fairfield is right on the coast in the Gaslamp Quarter-it should be quite nice.

The bonus with California is that they offer alot of shuttle, trolley and lite rail transport around their cities. We are able to wait to get a rental car until we leave San Francisco and are able to take it back 3 days before we go home from San Diego. That's saving us a few bucks for sure.

I got me a Pirate's shirt from the Disney Store yesterday...

Gonna wear it to the Movie!

We'll be in San Jose the second day POTC III AWO is out and will be going with our friends, The Skjervens, to see it :woohoo:

Nan tells me we can see the movie, eat and stay at the Pruneyard. Again, quite convenient~

31 days and counting....

:wave2:

Hey girl! I'm still here...have been lurking. I'm so jealous...what an awesome trip this is shaping up to be! I soooooo can't wait till you come back and I can popcorn:: and :surfweb: !!!

Hi Lauralee!!!!

I'm glad to see you're still there...I know we are still in the preliminaries of this trip...Every time I called to change our ressies I thought of you~

I read so many TR's (including yours) that are so funny and so entertaining I pray I can keep your interest in my writing...if not, I know I will with pictures ;)

I've got a camera bag on it's way to me. It's backpack style, perfect as a carry on. I'm taking my Olympus point and shoot, the digital Nikon slr from work and hopefully a video camera as well. We have an awesome HD digital video cam at work I gotta get permission to use it first tho. The backpack is so cool, it's got maneuverable padding to fit whatever equipment and accessories I have without any of it getting damaged. I actually ordered the bag cause I broke the slr carrying it in the wrong type of bag.

:wave2:

The first one Lee took, so I think I know where she stood, the 2nd one was mine I know I was inside the resturant for that one. I'll show ya where.

sounds like a good price

Stefanie (Rose's DD) has yet to hear back from the Price is Right. That's one of Stef's Must Do's for our trip.

that sounds fun, I've always wanted to do a game show. I'll be interested to hear how it is.

so, are you not staying at Best Western? Do they offer a shuttle?

yup, when you can use it, the systems are great & resaonalbly cheap compared to car with gas and parking and etc....

I got me a Pirate's shirt from the Disney Store yesterday...

COOL

WHAT NOT FULL COSTUMES, the kids might just be full on ya never know :confused3

Yes, We are staying at the BWPP!

Rose was only able to get her timeshare in Anaheim for the 29th and 30th. You guys will have gone home by then. (Her timeshares are free btw)

Rose isn't expecting to stay in the Disney parks as long as I do. She will most likely leave us to go check in at Fairfield. We will have a car, no worries about transport.

We then move on to the next time share for the entire San Diego leg.

Disunc told me today that touring Alcatraz is Free!

He says it's run by the park service and is a walk up. No reservations needed.

All of the places we are staying are on public transportation routes~

:woohoo:

ah ha on the hotel, I get it now.

I'd check that Free Alcatraz concept....I googled it and I don't see free anywhere. I can't figure how you'd get there except by ferry (which isn't free) maybe when you are on the island you can walk around for free (or for donation) but you have to get there and I think the tours are worth it. my .02 cents

Disunc also said that was alotta years ago (pre-9/11)

I'll do some research later today...

I found the Park Service's Alcatraz Page!

Tours are free, their ferry is $22 per person and it's recommended we buy early cause they tend to sell out. I messaged Rose and we'll probably purchase our tickets tonight so we have them.

According to the schedule, the earliest we can get on a Ferry is 9am...I can handle that.

Thanks for your help again Nanette

glad you found what you wanted. I haven't been since hmmmmm the 80s, I think most likely late '80s. My info was dated, but it seemed unlikely to ge over there for free. I think you will really like seeing it.

I saw that the game that night is a firework night, that should be fun huh?

It's gonna be Awesome!

This whole trip is coming together quite nicely. Rose and I should be good at planning vacations together by now. Esp since we've been traveling together since the early 90's. Having you out there and knowing other people who have toured Cali the way we are about to is a priceless addition. You guys have been a huge help in putting this whole scheme together.

She and I have spoken on many occasions about opening our own travel agency, maybe working from home...I'd want to be a different kind of agency tho. I've tried regular travel agents and have found they are lousy at getting a good price on anything. If you're ok with paying full price for something it'd be ok but I'm all about the discounts. When I help someone plan a trip it's always at the best price out there~

I'm boooooored!

I'm at the mall...just purchased my southern california city pass tickets! I found it on Disney's site with no shipping. That's the biggest difference with all the venues that sell the pass. Some charge shipping, some'll charge no shipping but you gotta go to their park first, Disney had no shipping and no restrictions.

For $235 each I got 3 Days of Hopping at DL & DCA, 1 day at Universal Hollywood, 1 day at Sea World in San Diego and 1 day at the SD Zoo. We could choose other places like legoland and SD's Wild Animal park but what's listed above is how we are rolling.

What's left?

Hotel, Alcatraz Ferry, Food, Souvies and rental car.

Rose and me are getting a table at the flea market this sunday. This way we can raise some extra fundage and clean out the house all at the same time.

29 Days to go...

Our tickets have arrived!

Southern California City Passes! $235 purchased online with Disneyland.com, free shipping, UPS delivered em yesterday!

:woohoo:

26 more days...
