A DisneyWorld Lifer is going to Disneyland-the saga ends...

Today, we bought our Alcatraz Passes

We want to take the first tour, early -bird at 9am on a saturday morning of memorial day weekend, we thought it'd be smart to buy them now. Thank goodness they back up the web page with an email, both of us had trouble printing and would've lost all our tickets otherwise.

Looky what I got!!!!

Mickey makes the perfect traveling companion. Durable polyester set features smooth-rolling corner wheels, recessed retractable handles, easy-grip Mickey icon zipper pulls, molded corner guards, top carry handles, self-repairing nylon coil zippers and more! Pullman has inner mesh pocket, side zip pocket and carry handle. Carry-on features interior detachable vinyl zip pocket, mesh zip pocket and more pockets. Pullman 26'' H x 18'' W x 10 1/2'' D. Carry-on 21'' H x 14 1/2'' W x 8'' D. Tote 10'' H x 16'' W x 6 1/2'' D. 1200 denier polyester with vinyl trim.

Just ordered them off of Disneyshopping.com, $55 for all three!!!

I was debating on whether or not I needed new luggage, we use duffle bags most times but we also drive on our trips most times. The duffles do ok when flying but are a total pain to lug thru airports-think very sore shoulders or drag it

So, I got this email today, checked it for the $55 super specials and saw the Mickey luggage there :woohoo:

My next question is normally, ok-how much to ship this crap? Well, they're also still running the $5 to ship anything special!!! So, for $60, I just got me some luggage~ Happy Mother's Day to ME!!!

Brittany and I tend to pack light, especially since we'll have our own laundry room for the second half of the trip. so.... I'll use the larger pullman for my check in, she'll use the smaller one. I'll use the Mickey carry on for myself instead of a purse and I have a backpack for my photography equipment, mp3 player, change of clothes, book and magazine as my carry on.

She's got a new backpack/skateboard pack, I'm getting for her here at the store I work in. The hard part is it's about the same price as what I just spent for 3 really cool pieces.

It has everything she needs compartment wise, a place for her portable cd player, her cds, some room for a change of clothes and whatever "busy" stuff she'll carry on the plane for herself. The front piece opens up like a door to clip her skateboard into place.

Rose and I have a date at the flea market this weekend!

We're gonna boost our pocket money with a little house cleaning via the Farmer's Market~

so, besides packing and the sale I only have one mission left to accomplish before we Jet...gotta add more music to my MP3 player! I have an iRiver, same idea as an ipod but made by a different company. It can hold up to 9,999 songs and I've heard just about everything in there already.

I asked DD to pull some cds for me to add into the iRiver. She knows what I like, she listens to alot of the new stuff but knows to stay away from the "screaming" bands for me.

Not too much longer and we'll be doin the single digit dance babeee~

:woohoo:

This is very exciting; you're almost there! And you really did get a great deal on that cool luggage. Can't wait to see you single-digit dancing.

You r gonna be STYLIN!:goodvibes

:upsidedow My FIL didn't even know we were going :faint:
(He lives with us btw~)

I talk about the Cali trip so often I don't expect people to be listening anymore. I said something to Dad this morning about goin and he was like WHAT? I filled him in and he said, Cool!

My BIL, son, now FIL and DHs Buds are all gonna keep DH busy while I am away. They're talking concerts and camping right now. I'm leaving 3 generations of Jurkowitsch Men home alone, ya think they'll enjoy it?

I think so~

Hubby's gonna miss me, as I will him. California is gonna be awesome but after 11 days of traveling with the girls, I'll be ready to come home

Brittany, Stefanie, Mom and I did two weeks on the road together for the cruise in 2005. This trip, the only change up is the three of us will have Stef's Mom (Rose) with us instead-o-mine

My friend Rose is the person who taught me to travel. She forced me to go to the outer banx one year and we've had to go back every year since. She's the one, besides Mom, who schedules my trips to Disneyworld. She's the one who wants to go to Virginia (back to Williamsburg.) She knows about the cruise but won't part with the cost to go, she's going on a cruise next week. Yup, next week. She'll be home from the Carribbean (not Disney) like two days when we leave for California. As a matter of fact, the last time we spoke she was in the beginnings of planning our first trip to Europe!

She wants to see France, DH and me wanna see Germany & Austria. Rose says we'll take a couple weeks. IMO, 3 or 4 would be better ;) And she wants to go in about 2 to 3 years. :scratchin This is where the wheels start rollin...

Our final itinerary....I think ;)

Crew recap:

Me-Tiggerwannabe (Colleen), forever 18yo Mother of two.

DD-Fletchermem0rial (Brittany) here on the DIS, actually 18yo,
skateboarder wannabe.

Rose-My best friend (by default-our sons and daughters grew up together
and are each best friends with each other.) Traveler extraordinaire,
facilitator of said journey.

Stefanie-18yo DD to Rose, Best Friend to my DD. College student,
bartender wannabe. (She recently took classes on how to be one and is totally into it for the money.)

The Agenda:

5/24 DD & Me fly to San Jose, arrive around noon-ish, and get picked up by my DISer friend Nan. We do lunch, pick up her kids from school, then when her hubby gets home they are delivering us to the Holiday Inn Express at the Wharf in San Francisco.

Britt and me will probably walk the city a bit and get some grub at the Wharf or Pier39. I expect this to be an early night for us since we have to leave the house at 4am to catch our 6:30am flight.

Rose has to work in the AM so she and Stef are taking off from Philly around dinner time, scheduled to arrive in San Francisco around 9:30 Cali time. They are shuttling it to the HIE.

5/25 Breakfast at The Wharf (with Bride2007 and new hubby?) Tour San Francisco. We're doing the real tourist thing here...Golden Gate Bridge, Trolley Cars, Lombard Street, Coit Tower, Haight & Ashbury...the works. Nan got us tickets to a San Francisco Giants game and will be joining us at the stadium around 6:30 so we can catch warm-ups and grab some dinner. (For those that don't know-my family is cruising with the Skjervens for New Years at the end of 2008.) A Family we met here on the DIS will also be joining us at the game. We talk to the Mom (Debbie-aka Bride2007) on our cruising thread and are looking forward to meeting them for the first time.

5/26 We are checking out early and doing the Alcatraz Tour. We have tickets for the 9am Ferry... all four of us are totally into history so this place should be Cool~ After the tour Rose is shuttling back to the San Francisco International Airport to get us a rental car. When she returns, we are going to San Jose. We got a dinner date (Rock Bottom Brew Club?) with the Skjervens at the Pruneyard in San Jose, which is also where we are staying the night, and then we go see Pirates of The Caribbean - At Worlds End :woohoo:

5/27 Time to Go to Disneyland! The Skjervens are flying to Anaheim. Rose, the girls and me are driving the Pacific Coast Highway to Anaheim. We'll be checking out of the Pruneyard early and driving to Monterey for breakfast. Rose and I want to see as much of California as we can and what better way than to drive the PCH. :sunny:

We expect to get to DL and check in at the Best Western Park Plaza Inn by dinnertime. Nan, Paul, Wilson and Molly should already be there when we arrive. There is one more family (we hope) meeting us at the BWPP. Grimgrinnin and Minnigrl and their beautiful cruise "souvenir" Piper are planning to be there. Grim recently got a new job and unless his "break between projects" happens at just the right time, we know they will have to cancel.

What we do depends on if DL sells out for the day (it is Memorial Day weekend.) Brittany and I have tickets to DL/DCa for 3 days and Rose only bought herself 2. If we can, Britt, the Skjervens and I want to go to the parks. Rose and Stefanie will do their own thing the first night. She has a car for this leg of the trip and would easily just get into the car and drive herself wherever she wants to go. If the park is sold out, Rose, Stef, Britt and me will probably hit ESPN zone and then play the rest of the evening by ear.

I'm really hoping it's not sold out or we can at least get into DCA cause that's the only night the Electric Light Parade is scheduled to run during our 3 day stay in Anaheim.

5/28 Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure. Nan's daughter Molly will be our tour guide for the day. They have set the agenda since they know the parks so well (they are AP holders and use them quite frequently.) The Best Western offers continental breakfast, we'll take advantage of that for breakfast, have lunch on the fly (can you say Corn Dog King?) and have ressies at Ariel's Grotto at 7pm for dinner.

My goal, and only reason for booking Ariel's, is to get that perfect DCA sunset shot. If you've ever checked the pictures on the DL boards you may see what I mean. The sun sets just behind Screamin and the Ferris Wheel and makes for a perfect shot of a California sunset.

The Dreams Come True Fireworks are scheduled for 9:25 and that’s most likely how we will end our second day at DL.

5/29 DL/DCA again. Brittany and I are ride fanatics. Our mission is to hit all of the “top” rides and then as many of the rest as is humanly possible-which totally depends on the crowds. Fastpass runners have already been designated, we are ready to go. I know Disney has some really cool shows, so for this trip our must see show is Aladdin. At the end of today, our friends the Skjervens, are going home. :( I expect to thoroughly enjoy our time with the family and will sorely miss them when they go. Nan's kids are little yet and have to get back to school.

Our ressies for this evening are at The Blue Bayou. I was told on the DL board that of all the restaurants in DL, Blue Bayou is the Best. We have early ressies tonight. That continental breakfast will only hold for so long. Lite snacks might be necessary; Popcorn, French fries and Dole Whips Oh My! Our ressie is at 4pm and after dinner I expect we’ll try to catch the 630 Parade of Dreams before we end our last day at Disney.

Sometime on the 29th, we are checking out of the BWPP and headed to Rose’s timeshare at Fairfield. It’s only a mile away from the parks and as I said, we’ll have a car. I have a feeling Rose and Stefanie will take advantage of the transfer and head off on their own. Rose and Stef are really into Disney but she’s already told me she doubts they’ll do two *full* days there. The tickets Rose got for USH gives them two days at that park. I also have a feeling that that is where they’ll wind up after they leave us to do the transfer.

5/30 Universal Studios and Hollywood tour! Brittany and I have tickets for one day at Universal and this is the day slotted to go. This part of the schedule is a flexible one. If we don’t get to the park on the 30th, we’ll go the 31st and then head to San Diego. Hollywood and LA are another must see on our list. The list includes Hollywood, LA, Ventura Beach, Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills and maybe even Santa Monica pier. We’d need a full day to do all of that I’m sure. San Diego is not that far of a ride from Anaheim and we could easily do USH and then head to our next destination. We only have to check in...so no worries there.

Stefanie applied for tickets to see The Price is Right. We haven’t heard anything back from them tho. I’ve been checking free tv tickets .com to see if we can get into any other shows but not too much is taping while we are there. We are still holding out for TPIR cause that’s what Stefanie REALLY wants to do.

5/31 We leave for San Diego. Possible USH day. Rose booked her Fairfield timeshare at the Harbor in SD. The resort is right on the water and claims the best view in the area. This should be another opportunity for me to get some good sunset shots. We live on the East coast and getting up for sunrise is not my cup-o-tea. Sunsets in California are one of the biggest things I personally am looking forward, this still comes in second, my first love is Disney.

6/1 Last day we have the rental car. Beach Day! La Jolla and Coronado are our destinations for this part of the trip. These are the BEST beaches, I’m told, in the area. My crew LOVES the beach. This will be our day to really enjoy it California style, I pray for good weather cause after this, we’ll have no more car.

6/2 San Diego Zoo! I got the public transportation schedules so we can get ourselves there and back. I hear this place is huge so the Zoo is the only thing on our game plan for the day. Our travels will be ending soon. This is where I will make a point to relax. I’d hate to come home from such a fabulous vacation feeling like I never had one at all. (I get to go back to work the morning after we get home-I can already see I'm gonna be good for crap either way.)

6/3 Our last day in Cali :( This is the day we go to Sea World. Another public transportation day and then relaxing when we’re done. SW is another park that our families really love. I can’t wait to check it out~

6/4 is the day we go home. Our flight leaves at 6:30 in the am. Our plane leaves so early the public transportation won’t even be running yet. I got the numbers of a couple of shuttle services. It’ll cost us about $25 a piece. Not too bad for somebody who’s willing to come get us at 4 o clock in the morning.

Our trip is approaching fast and I think we are all ready to go. Once the luggage I ordered from Disney gets here I’ll be able to really start packing. As you can see, our itinerary is set. We are looking forward to a fabulous time, this trip is really a dream come true.

I’ll have tons of pictures to share and maybe a story or two. If I learned anything from my favorite trip reporters, it’s if nothing good happens to make something up. I hope you all enjoyed riding this pre-trip journey with me. I certainly enjoyed writing it…what comes after? We very soon shall see.

Love You Guys! Mean It!

Catch y’all on the flip side~ :hippie:

How exciting! By the way, the Pruneyard Hotel is 2 minutes away from my house! & I think it's in Campbell, not San Jose. But alas, it's very nice! Down Campbell Ave is Sonoma Chicken Coup, which isn't very expensive, and it's pretty good food!

Also, definitely try and get to the electric light parade. It is so beautiful and wonderful!

Are you seeing the pirates of the caribbean at Camera 7? It'll also be playing at Century 21 (which is where we're going the day before!), which has the biggest screens around. Are you guys doing any sight-seeing in San Jose? If you are, I would suggest the Winchester Mystery House. It's right next door to Century 21, and it's magnificent!

Hello there!

My friend Nan is why we are going to the San Jose area. She suggested we see POTC at the Pruneyard (that's Camera 7 right?.) She also said there is a restaurant at the hotel we could go to.

We are only spending the one night in your area. We'll arrive late afternoon and be leaving bright and early in the am. My friend Rose mentioned seeing the sun rise in Monterey. Yes, she wants to start our journey that early that day. ::yes::

I truly intend to go to DCA that first night so we can see the parade.

I LOVE the one I've seen at WDW, I especially enjoy the music that goes with it.

The DCA side doesn't seem as popular as the DL side. Do you think we have a good shot of getting in? Nan's the one who told me that DL might fill up but she didn't mention DCA.

My cousin and I went to Disneyland/DCA for my Graduation present from my mom (3 nights at the DL hotel, etc). It was also the same weekend POTC:2 was premiering at Disneyland. It was pretty packed, and we had to get to DCA around 4:30-5 to get good seats for the Electric Parade. Seriously, DCA was jam packed when the electric parade was going on.

I dunno about the restaurant in the Pruneyard hotel, but there are definitely restaurants in the Pruneyard (that's the name of the shopping center).

yes lots of places in the Pruneyard to eat...not at the hotel itself.

Depending on how much we want to enjoy (perhaps at Rock Bottom Brew Pub) we could stummble to the movies (after some beer) if they are playing at Pruneyard...they might not be showing there....as we get closer we'll figure it out..

btw, Wilson is the Dland tour guide...we call him WPS, like GPS (in our car) he cuts and and dodges around people like no bodies business and I'm sure you and the girls will love keeping up with him :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I think he thinks it's like he is living the video game, can ya picture that?

Winchester Mystery House might look cool to you also, it's walking distance from our house (not that we walk there) but since I've lived here in this house my whole life (yes really) it doesn't seem so cool to me. But it really is, so I'll see what is going on for a quickie tour too.

Off to the doctor...Molly got sick this weekend, we came home early from camping...more to the story on the cruise thread later this afternoon....

:dance3: LOVE YOU TOO!!!! MEAN IT!

:thumbsup2 Thanks for all your help and suggestions ohdisco, I really do appreciate every one~

Nan, the Pub sounds cool...I'm always willing to try a new brew~

I went to the Pruneyard's site, if it's cinema 7 you speak of their schedule says it's playing there. I hope what I read is right cause that would be really convenient.

The Winchester House sounds nice, but I think we're gonna stick with dinner and a movie plan and not try to add any more into the schedule than we already have...besides, it'll give us something to do the NEXT time I'm out there :)

I am ready and willing to follow whomever leads the way...
WPS is the way to go~He's the best game in town!

I am sorry to hear Molly got sick, I'll check you later to see how she's doing...

:dance3:

The last pieces of our itinerary have just fallen into place :woohoo:

I got my lime green Mickey heads for my new luggage tags at HD this am,

My mp3 player is loaded up with lotsa new music
and a couple discs from Mitch Hedberg and Dane Cook,

My photo/camera backpack arrived,

And our Price Is Right passes arrived in the mail today!!!!!!!

:woohoo: Woohoo!!! :woohoo:

aaaaannd; The single digit dance begins tomorrow~

OMG, I have four more days!

I'm sitting here surfing the POTC MySpace page watching all the trailers and I look at the countdown (which, mind you is now the same day as the one I go to Cali on-May 24th) and the countdown says 4 more Days!!!

I just switched over to my MySpace page and am now listening to the Electic Light Parade Music~ :woohoo:

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=11672011

I am in such a good mood tonight...I'm finishing the clothes I need to get packed and am planning my outfits for the week, I'm even planning the souivenirs I'm gonna buy on my trip. Packed my extra bag for souvies and anything extra we grab while in Cali.

Have I ever told you how much I love the music to the ELP? Click the link above and give a listen...it's *really* cool!

I absolutely can not wait till you get home so I can hear how your trip went!

Safe travels my friend!! Hurry back!!!:thumbsup2

I'm such a dork sometimes

You can't listen to the parade music if I got it set to private huh?

I changed up my MySpace page so you can check it out!

Lauralee! Thanks for sticking around with me thru the pretrip~

I am almost ready to go...I have one more trip to the store yet...my sister brought me her video camera to use and I gotta get some tapes for it. My bags are packed, my outfit for the plane ride is even set out :woohoo:

My daughter is not as good as me yet...she set out the stuff she needs washed yet before she can pack-I honestly think her suitcase is still completely empty

I *know* I'll come back with lotsa pics for you~I'm hoping to come back with an interesting story~my notebook is packed, I'll take notes so's not to leave anything out...

I'll have my blackberry with me so I am planning to do some live reporting from Cali...stay tuned my friend...only a few more days~

:cool2:
