A Disney Christmas 2021

HI!
We have been to Disney several times. Our trips have always been during October but never during the Christmas Holiday.
I have booked a trip for us for Christmas (12/22-12/28) and we are very excited! And, the added bonus will be the 50th Anniversary! We will be staying at the Polynesian.

The first time I went to Disney was back in 1974, then 1976. Then again in 1996, 2016, 2017,2018.


I see that the Christmas after hours party ends on the 21st. Does MK do anything extra special on Christmas day? We do have our park reservations set for Christmas day at MK.

Any info on navigating during this season would be great! We don't stress too much about shows, fireworks, etc. We just enjoy our time in the magic!

We are staying at the Swan the same days in December and also have a Park Pass for MK on Christmas. We have never been during the holidays and are trying to set our expectations for heavy crowds. I know it will be a different trip for us but I’m excited to be in the middle of the magic during the holidays.

My family will be there 12/23-12/29: with Christmas Day reservation at MK. I'm curious of anything "extra" on that day specifically or is it just the same as the "holiday season" events/special touches?

Christmas day is very crowded, to the point you cannot even walk up Main St.
Every restaurant is full or booked. We sat and enjoyed being at the Magic Kingdom on Christmas. Try to book a character dinner before the 25th. You can get pics of the characters in their Christmas outfits.

Oh Lord, I know it's going to be crowded, but that bad?!?! I will love it, but trying to keep my somewhat impatient family happy might be another story. Thanks for the tips!!

We spent a week at Disney World during Christmas of 2018. Pre covid, full crowds. I didn't think it was as bad as everyone said it would be. And I am NOT a crowd person. Sure there were some choke points, especially in the back of Animal Kingdom. But MK and Epcot seemed to flow pretty good. We had sit down dining reservations every day, and that helped get away from the crowds and relax. Even with the high prices and crowds, Christmas at Disney is very special. I think it might be our favorite time to visit. We're going back this year the week before Christmas.

My tips:
Reserve sit down dining every day (you'll need a break from crowds)
Allow extra time for transportation around the parks
Go back to resort during peak crowd times (afternoon)
Just allow more time for everything in general
Glad you've been several times (I would not rec Christmas for first timers)

I think you'll have a great time based on your last comment about having a relaxed schedule.

We’ve done Christmas in the past and will be returning this year! It is crowded but you know that going in and can work around the crowds as best you can. We like to rope drop and head out of the parks mid day for a break … either at the resort or (for example) we leave MK about noonish and go to Wilderness Lodge for a glass of wine and a nosh at Geyser Point. It’s a beautiful resort during the holidays and getting away from the crowds is a must do for at least a little while during the day!
