Thanks for all the schools/class help:) It's different here (just in case you hadnt guessed :rotfl2:).. If you turn 3 on/before 1st july you start nursery/pre-school in september then the next year you start primary school which runs from p1-p7 then it's secondary/grammer again for 7 years (you can leave after 5 but need to stay for 7 if you want to go to uni). Just thought I'd explain in case you all think I'm" as thick as champ" :rotfl2:

I have started a Jeff Galloway training plan so that I can someday walk/run a half marathon at disney but it will probably be a few years before I get there:goodvibes
Still this way I will be prepared -you know in case I win the lottery or something:rotfl:

My nephew is 4 and lives in London so he just started school. Some fancy school (I think maybe the Princes went there or something).
Good for you starting a training program!!!

I've started packing. I think I need to check my bag - not due to overpacking but due to needing lots of liquids/gels. Make-up, sunscreen, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, running gels, shower gel, moisturizer, etc. I don't think it'll fit in a whimsy one quart bag! I packed my race day outfit, minus shoes since I need them. MNSSHP costume in bag. I need to pick an outfit for Lou Mongello's event. I need another running outfit for Friday's 5 mile walk. And then some hang-out clothes. I packed a bathing suit and cover-up. I normally bring 2 swim suits but I honestly don't know how much pool time I'll have.
I also need to work-out Friday's schedule. My roommate was talking about lunch at Via Napoli at 1pm but the Expo opens at noon. I think I'd rather head to the Expo earlier so I can spend some time there. Hmmm...

More random updating without a purpose... :lmao:
Last long run before ToT is done. I went 14 miles on Sunday and felt pretty good. I ran a bit too fast so I had some soreness yesterday but it's better today. I really need to start getting ready for the trip! I need to finalize plans (must email roommate about Friday!). The weekend is going to be a fine balance between lots and lots of fun and utter exhaustion. My roommate is definitely more ambitious than I am when it comes to burning both ends of the candle. I've made a decision to avoid early morning activities and just stick with the late night stuff. I'm naturally a morning person so this is different for me. But with the race starting at 10pm, I need to adjust my schedule. I'm very excited for the race as much as I am for the trip in general. And I'm psyched for the race I have here in NY the following weekend.
Not much planning for Marathon Weekend yet. Flights and hotel booked but nothing beyond that.
I'm trying to convince Tom to let me take Jessica on a solo trip for the Princess Half Marathon weekend. Wish me luck. :thumbsup2

Sometimes just writing it down makes more sense of it all lol
Bit like me writing about running a disney race makes me feel like it'll be a reality not just a wish

Good luck convincing Tom- definitely think you should play on the mother-daughter bonding thing or possibly "boy time for the guys is the way to go":rotfl2:

I am still here! :goodvibes GOOD LUCK!!!

Thanks Judy!!!

Brilliant!
Truth is that I owe Jessica a trip since Nathaniel had one last year. Tom is starting to worry about home repairs (we bought our house a little more than a year ago and it hasn't been updated in decades) so I think it's partially a financial decision. We're not ready for the big things: new kitchen (which will likely involve breaking down walls), new bathrooms, etc. But we have plenty of smaller scale projects. And they all cost money! :crazy2:

Running update:
Training is going great! Last weekend was a 3.5 mile walk (3.63 mile) on Saturday and then 14 mile run on Sunday. This weekend was 3 miles with a Magic Mile (your fastest possible mile). My Magic Mile has improved from 9:39 to 8:48 since I started e-coaching in June! According to several calculators, I am now capable of a sub-5 hour marathon. We'll see!
Tower of Terror is a week from today. I am planning a training pace for that race and to just enjoy the experience. The following weekend is my local Half Marathon. Then the Goofy is just around the corner.
Lots of travel coming up. I leave for Disney on Thursday night! Then I have a medical conference in New Orleans. I leave NY late on October 18th and have an early flight home on October 22nd. It's a little tricky because that weekend has lots of miles on my training schedule and I'm not sure it's safe to run outside in New Orleans early in the morning....

Plans for ToT weekend:
Arrive late Thursday night. Pick up bag from baggage claim and hop on Magical Express to BC. Maybe go out for a drink with my roommate, depending on the time. Friday morning I will walk 5 miles. At some point we're heading to the Expo to pick up race packets. We'll try to go to Fort Wilderness for WDW Today Untentfest. That night is Lou Mongello's event at the American Adventure Pavilion.
Saturday morning I hope to sleep in. I'm looking for a good place for a late, big breakfast. Mellow day. I have a Team Studios Central meet at Picabu at 6pm. Have to be in the parking lot of DHS by 9pm to enter the starting corrals. Race starts at 10pm. After party until 4am (it's unlikely I'll last very long!).
Sunday: sleep late. Enjoy Food and Wine festival. Change into costume. Grab some early dinner at F&W and then head to MK for MNSSHP.
Monday: Stop by Epcot for some 30th Anniversary merchandise. Take DME back to airport and fly home.

as the daughter of a contractor whose father redid every room in our house except one growing up let me give you a piece of advice. get the big repairs before the little ones except if you can seal off parts of the house.

It will limit the having to re-do.

Taking down walls is not fun. My kitchen re-do turned into rebuilding in my house. Remember I am the daughter of a contractor LOL. I came home from work one day and my brother and father decided that they must start over it was to much to remodel. LOL

I think all children need one on one time.

Good advice!
The smaller repairs are things like fixing broken windows, fixing the screen door that no longer closes, and fixing the broken stones in the front patio. And we were forced to get a new dishwasher after ours died the day before our trip to Disney in August! Luckily it's arriving on Monday. Finally.

I suspect our kitchen re-do will be a MAJOR expense (like somewhere in the $100-200k range based on what others have warned me) so it's still a few years off. The downstairs powder room may have to be a priority because it's problematic....

Sounds like great plans for the race trip! Cannot wait to hear all about it. I don't think I could ever do the Wine & Dine...I have a hard time staying up after 9pm, much less running that late! :lmao: Give me a run at 5-6am and I'm all over it! ;) Have fun!

I totally agree! At least 10 miles is shorter than 13.1!

I'm back from a fun-filled trip! The Tower of Terror race was hotter than Hades but I ran strong and slowed down for the heat. I'm happy with my performance, even if it wasn't my fastest race. Running a local half marathon on Sunday.

More to come...

Glad you had a good time!! Can't wait to hear all about it!! :)

Thanks!
We've had no power since Monday due to Sandy so won't update until it's restored!

Amanda

Glad you are safe and we finally had power turned on last night.

Thanks all! We went away for the weekend to escape the cold, dark house. 4,400 houses in our town are still powerless. The latest word is next weekend for restoration.
