I think I have read all the posts about the Member cruise, there are so many its hard to keep track.

My question to all those who think this is an insult of some kind.

1. How many of you pay almost double points for the same room
on a weekend night at a DVC resort and don't complain ?
2. How many of you gleefully book "holiday" time and don't
complain ?
3. How many would not be taking this cruise anyway, and are just
using this as an opportunity to gripe and moan ?
4. Why is it that some people seem to think that their use of
points is the "only"way to use them and anyone who uses
theirs differently is some form of lower being ?
5. What about those members who, through personal problems
may have some points that they are going to lose ? Might this
be a good way to spend them ?

We probably will not be going on the cruise due to prescheduled vacations. Would we be willing to pay a little more, probably because it is something limited just to DVC members and that makes it special. I do not feel like someone is trying to put one over us. If you do not like the price don't buy it. Will it be successful? I hope so I would like to do the next one.
Even if it costs 8 or 9 points more per person than usual !

Very well said!!! I always get a good laugh out of these boards. People will always have a problem with something, DVC will never make EVERYONE happy.

I'm sure that if the cruise was discounted, someone would have started a thread wanting to know how they were going to subsidize (spelling???) the cost. They would have been saying that they were probably going to raise the maintenance fees to cover it.

I for one have thought about about it, and will probably take my family on the cruise!! We love Disney and DVC and will have a ball with others like ourselves.

After all....When it's all over.....you can't take your points with you!!!!

When I bought into DVC, I knew how much weekend points were at all DVC resorts. I knew they were higher and I joined anyway. I also know how many points it takes to cruise in VALUE season vs. the DVC "special" cruise!

Again, I knew how many points holiday time would take.

I had every intention of trying to take this cruise. We have a December and January trip already planned but my DH and I discussed changing any or both of those trips in order to be able to add a cruise on.....something we had never done. I can't see spending MORE points then the week before or after just to be with other DVC members.

I would NEVER tell someone how to use their points. I would NEVER think that there is only one way to use points. That is the joy of DVC. There are so many options.

Again, they are your points. Knock yourself out. Enjoy! I would NEVER tell you or anyone else how to use your points or NOT to take a cruise. That is none of my business.

Over the years, I have met many very nice DVC members. MY family would have enjoyed spending time on a ship with all DVC members. However, for US personally, I WON'T pay extra to do that. When I go to OKW, it is pretty much all members and I don't even have to pay extra for that!!
I (ME, MY FAMILY) find that the points for the "special" cruise are a rip off. I fail to see any big thing that DVC or DCL are doing that justifies the extra points on MY part. Again, that is ME. YOU may do whatever works for you and your family. If I wanted to go on the cruise, I certainly wouldn't worry about what anyone else thought.
