I don't know if anyone here is into amateur / community theatre, but in the UK Disney has made the rights for the stage production of Beauty And The Beast available to amateur theatre companies for two years... then they are withdrawn.
The upshot is that most major amateur theatre societies are performing the show this year.
I am lucky enough to be associated with one such society (The Limelight Productions, Dunfermline, Scotland), and have finished three performances of a six performance run (Tues - Sat with a Sat matinee).
One of my friends was kind enough to come along and take some photographs of the dress rehearsal. I've been processing some of the pictures in my spare time, so here are a few of them. They may be a bit excessively contrasty; there was a lot of dry ice around and in trying to get rid of the effects of that I may have overdone the contrast.
Anyway, here are the pics
1. The opening number - Belle
2. No Matter What (Belle and her Father)
3. The Wolves attack Belle's Father
4. Gaston "woos" Belle
5. Belle with Mrs Potts and Mme de la Grande Bouche
6. Be Our Guets (I'm in this one, in the rather "fetching" gold catsuit and without a pretty dancer to hide me from the camera!
7. If I Can't Love Her
8. title song... the classic image from the show
It's been great fun to do - schmaltzy, sentimental clap-trap but very good schmaltzy sentimental claptrap!
On the offchance you are in Dunfermline this week, come and see it - it's great fun!
regards,
/alan
