Day Six
One thing I dislike about WDW vacations – check out day. Yeah, I know
no one likes checking out on their final day of a vacation. But what I don’t like about doing so at WDW in particular is my need to get as much Disneyfication in on that last day as possible. Which translates into getting up and running EARLY. Just once, I’d like to sleep in and utilize those last precious hours of pre-paid resort time.
Well, maybe next time.
‘Cause in this trip, The Plan called for a rip-roaring early start to fit in all the things we’d missed in the previous 5 days.
So I brewed one last pot of Godiva coffee, (which E declined AGAIN – what’s wrong with this girl?!), stuffed our belongings into whatever bags were handy, and packed up the V-mobile.
Then, I knocked on D’s door to say goodbye. Remember? E wanted to see AK, which I had no plans for this trip. So our families would be parting company for our final day in The World. No one was all that choked up about it. B’s Bday party was less than a week away and we’d all be together once more. And. Leo was probably psyched to be the only child once more.
Speaking of B…. he awoke a whole new baby! All memories of the yakky day before were erased and they were all looking forward to a fun day at AK. Needless to say, I was VERY happy to hear this.
Don't worry, we'll be checking in with D and company again later.
Gramma, Leo and I hopped a bus and headed out for stop #1: the MK!
This Plan was the product of an accident on our Dec. 2006 trip. Back then, The Plan called for EP the last day, after sleeping-in. But Leo desperately wanted to do a couple of his favorite ride before we left and we ditched sleeping-in in favor of MK before EP. Well, it worked out so well, I wrote this little set-up into The Plan from the start of this May trip! So much for sleeping-in... again.
We got one last blast fest in with Buzz…
And spent some time in ToonTown…
I forget what else, but I’m sure we found a few more diversions. Then, we headed for the Jungle Cruise, which Leo had so wanted to ride again.
It opened at 10am. We arrived at 10:20am. And found a 60 minute wait.

No way, no how – we had a 12pm ADR in EP. And forget a FP – they weren’t coming back until late afternoon.
Poor Leo. He’d had so many disappointments this trip, and he’d been such a trooper about it all. This one just sent him over the edge. There was crying. And whining. And whimpering. And moaning. And shuffling of feet.
And then. There was this:
The all-mighty Dole Whip.
Was suggested by V.
And I know what some of you are thinking. No, this wasn’t some form of horrific punishment for an ill-behaved 5 year old. Leo had outgrown his pineapple allergy. I was pretty sure.
I still had mine. My pineapple allergy. But I popped an extra allergy pill and took a chance, just to see what all the fuss was about.
Wow.
WOW.
WOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trumpets flared and angels sang. The Earth stood still. Peace reigned and people everywhere were consumed with joy.
Get the Dole Whip, is what I’m sayin’.
FYI, those egg rolls across the street are mighty fine, too.
I was hungry.
