ohhhhhh Christmas shopping! I am so happy for your Dad! WTG D!!!! he must be so happy to be able to do something this year!
Say hi to the girls for me!!!
an update? you mean this is a trip report?!?!
Yes, he was very excited... It took him a little while to get into it though - he isn't used to spending $$. He was like a little kid though, once he was into it... I had to drag him out of several stores and away from several kiosks, because he was distracted by everything.
I did - they said hello back.
Hahaha... Supposedly.
Have fun Christmas shopping with your dad.
I got a text from my bbf this morning. It took her 4 1/2 hours to get home from work last night. She works on the other side of Cleveland and lives out by me. She hates driving in snow, too. Schools are closed because they want to clear the roads better.
Have a good weekend.
Liz
Thanks Liz! We had a great time!
Yikes!!! That's awful!!! Stay safe and warm!
Loved the Elsa bag. Of course I love every bag you make.
Hope Alli gets better fast.
Last night we had a dusting. It was pretty to see, but nicer when it melts.
Hope you have a wonderful visit with your dad. Hope Christmas shopping goes well.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks Lynee!
She is still horse, and as she would say "has a manly voice"... But she is trying to stumble through working this weekend, so she can hang out with Gus - even though I can tell she still isn't feeling well.
We had lots of fun! Thank you.
How great that you have been able to help your dad save up some money for Christmas. I hope you both have a great time shopping.
Yes, it was really neat - he had a lot of fun too.
Yeah! Have fun shopping with you Dad. That sounds like fun.
I'm getting excited for Black Friday. I may not buy anything this year, but I will go and watch the craziness at the stores! Cheap entertainment, right?
Are you going to hit any of the stores on Black Friday? Target looked like they had some pretty good deals.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
It was a lot of fun!
Hehehe... Yes, I agree - my favorite part about Black Friday - when it was Black Friday, was working that opening shift - I loved seeing all of the people and what they purchased... It was my favorite day of the year to work. Now that we are opening on Thanksgiving - it's not the same, and I don't like it at all.
It depends on what Alli and I are scheduled for BF... I asked them to schedule us for a shift that is semi-close in the same hours, so we aren't working at opposite times. Alli mentioned that she wants to do some BF shopping this year - so I guess we are just going to have to see. I know my neighbor and I are going out on Saturday to do our big yearly shopping trip together - we always go out for lunch and make a whole day of it - it's so much fun. We might even have baby Evie with us this year?
Thanks! You too!

- back from the land of the swamped managerial life...
You're getting really good at those princess bags. Love the material behind Elsa.
I get to oversee my Mom's finances as well, so well done for you that your Dad is going to be able to give this year. Mom is very crafty, so even when she's on the low end of finances (like this year because of last minute medical stuff) she'll probably give at least those of us in Alabama a little something.
Hope everyone does well the next few days with the snow and unseasonable cold - it is NOT supposed to be 30 degrees at 8:00 in the morning in November in Alabama. At least we don't have snow though. -sorry.
Hope Allison gets to feeling better & shopping with Dad was fun!
Yikes!!! I hope you can see the light at the end of the tunnel Ruth!
Thank you!
It's hard managing 2 household finances... THankfully, I've been able to set up everything for my dad as auto withdrawl... Makes my l life super easy - and his too.
Stay warm, and dry down there.
Thanks!!! Me too = yes it was a lot of fun!
Enjoy the time with your dad!
The bag is beautiful!
My dd6 has been fighting a sore throat too. I'm trying to resist running right to the dr. ( I usually do) I'm seeing these cold symptoms LINGER in my classroom. I hope your girl feels better soon.
Thanks! We had a good time!
Yes - I am certain that Alli has the same thing I had a few weeks ago... It lingered forever... I seem to still have to clear my throat/lungs constantly yet... Hopefully you can keep your classroom germ free, so you don't get it too.
**********************************************************
Well, yesterday - it was madness, for sure!
First things first... Took Alli to the Dr. right away in the morning, just to double check that it wasn't Strep - it wasn't... Just a virus, like I had. So, I dropped her off at school on my way up to my Dad's.
I arrived there... Roads are really bad by his place - they were part of the 14" dump of snow last weekend. The main highway was Ok - but the streets and county roads were awful. When I heard that they were to get more snow today, I made the excutive decision to drive home last night.
My dad was excited to see me and spend the day with me.
First - we had to get his address changed on his drivers license... It's a year overdue. Oops.
Then we hit the mall... He had lots of fun picking out items for the girls. And I was constantly having to steer him out of stores and keep him on track... He wanted to buy every toy there was out there - even though there is no one on his list that had any interest in toys (except for maybe himself... LOL)...
He wanted to push his walker, rather than get a wheelchair... but the last leg of the mall, he tuckered out fast - so I had to go get my car and pick him up at a different door than we parked at. It was just as well, we were done anyways. Next time, I will over-ride him and get the wheelchair.
He wanted to take me out to Red Lobster for lunch... Love sea food! I pitched in some of my own $$ too, because the only thing I wanted was a $30 meal.

But it was the only thing on their menu that didn't come with all these added sauces and it was grilled - it just looked good. And it was worth it, super yummy! I polished it off very quickly - I hadn't had lunch yet and it was after 3pm. Dad ordered crab legs - which was a HUGE treat for him! He loved it all!
Loving the Santa look my dad is pulling off fantastically this year - it's hard to see in the picture, but his beard is perfectly white! And now that they Dr. told him that he has to wear suspenders, rather than a belt - well, it's just perfect. He told me that some of the ladies at his apartment building call him "Burle Ives"... hehehe...
The waitress was kind enough to take a picture of us together too - even though it isn't the most flattering picture of me...
Then we went to one last store, where my dad needed to get some denim bib overalls (the suspender thing again...) and a gift for my brother.
When we were checking out - we ran into my Aunt... Rather, she ran into us. It was so cool! I know this sounds strange, but I NEVER run into anyone I know here - I mean, I do, but not family. It's weird for me to go home and run into random family members... It feels good. I do miss it a lot.
I don't miss driving there though - it's awful. I had to use my horn countless times yesterday, and narrowly avoided several accidents (not exaggerating)... St. Cloud, MN is notorius for being the WORST city to drive in, ever. It still shocks me that this is the city I learned how to drive in... I detest driving there now in the worst way!
Anyways... I took my dad home... Wrapped his gifts for him. Tried to take a nice nap on his couch - which didn't work. So I headed home. It was hard staying awake the first leg of the trip, but once I hit the Cities - I love the action on the interstate, switching lanes and traffic and such... I am always wide awake.
I made it home safely.
Gus picked Alli up from work, and they arrived home shortly after I did.
Josh and Victoria came home from the hockey game after that.
Josh and I went to bed, the girls and Gus stayed up. Not sure how late Gus stayed last night?
And that's all for the play - by - play of yesterday... If you made it through, great! If not - I totally understand. I know a lot of you have a fondness for my dad, so that's why I wrote it all out.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Prayers and good thoughts to all of you!
D~
