~~ A Celebration of Life-long friendship ~~ Sew Sweet 16 ~~ Now N' Thens 3/11

Hello D~! I fell of the radar for a few days. Nice to see that it wasn't too hard to get caught up on your report! :goodvibes I have a favor to ask you...

Can you send some of that Minnesota snow our way? :confused3 Seriously, we were in the "snow dome" last winter, and I really want some of the white stuff!!! ::yes::

Cute sweater dresses! I have one, and I love it. So warm and soft, but still dressy for the cold weather. :thumbsup2

I know just how you feel about needing to spend some time with Robin and Olivia. We haven't been able to get together with Quackattack and her family since our vacation, and I miss them so much! We haven't even been able to get together for a movie night. I think that is why the Disney blues are really setting in now. :worried:

Question for you: Will you all be headed south for the holidays at all?

It always seems when you break a glass, you can never get all the pieces, even though you sweep so thoroughly. Glad it wasn't a major thing and it was sweet of Gus to doctor her up.

We are actually eating later than usual for TG since my sister and her hubby are flying in from Texas TG day and won't get here until around 2:30. He thought he was totally missing the big meal and would have to just do with leftovers. Silly boy didn't know we always wait for family if they're on their way! He's a happy camper now. Reason i mentioned it was my sister was going to make a TG dinner for him the day before they came up. Hope Josh decides to do it!

I'm sure you got a lot done, are getting a lot done in your sewing room. I've been up all night and instead of going to bed this morning, I jumped in the car and went over to paint at the condo. I got the dining room and part of the living room and a hall done. Now I'm trying to talk myself into sewing something, but I'm afraid with no sleep I may ruin whatever it is I do. Maybe a Christmas movie….

Have a great evening and stay warm!!

I hope you've been successful getting things done that you want done.

I wish you luck getting to go see white Christmas. Jeff and I went before kids and I loved it!!! I'm also taking Sarah to her first performance next month with the Girl Scouts. We're going to see the Velveteen Rabbit!! They are going to have real rabbits for the kids to see before the show so we're planning on getting there early. She is so excited and so am I to just have a girls day with her. :lovestruc

Glad you didn't get too much snow. We have a cold front moving in and I'm not too happy about it. I do not like the cold.
Hope Alli isn't getting sick again and I hope her foot is ok
Cannot wait to see the bag. Everyone is beautiful.
This morning I was informed by a friend of mine that it's 37 days till Christmas!! I need to finish my shopping before Thanksgiving.
Have a fantastic day!

Yes, I don't mind the snow at all - but I detest the cold... I am such a freeze baby.

Well, Alli is home sick with me again today... She is not feeling the greatest. I think I will try to get her into the Dr. at some point today, just to eliminate Strep - since her throat is really bothering her.

I will be posting bag pictures today.

YIKES!!!! I guess I better get a move on my shopping then, huh? I really haven't even started. ::eek::

I hope you have a great day too!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO On snow.

ahhh to see such a cute couple... i was talking about Gus and MM by the way...

just kidding...

Love ya

mean it.

Hahaha... Mm does love Gus a lot! :thumbsup2

Love you too!

You can come up here and grab all of the snow you'd like Oopsi! Feel free!

Thanks!!! I tried it on again yesterday, and I am not as thrilled with it as I was in the dressing room. :confused3 I'll still wear it, but still lots of work to be done on this body of mine.

Yes - it's fun to spend time with them... We miss them so much after planning for so long, then having a fun trip. I really wish we could do a "do-over" for no other reason than to do it again. :thumbsup2

Well... I know that was the plan this spring. And Josh is still planning on it - however - both Allison and I cannot ask for any official time off between TG and New Years - it's blacked out... So, we've "asked off" - but we are not guaranteed anything. At this point - I would say, probably not... The odds that both of us will get enough time off while she is on break from school to be able to do a trip down and allow for weather, I just don't think it's possible. I will keep you updated, and if it looks like we will be doing the trip - you will be the first to know. :thumbsup2

I hope you get done what you want in your sewing room today.

Thanks Lillian - I did! Woohoo!

Yah - I think I am still finding glass from the last time I broke something in there. LOL It was super cute to watch Gus patch her up.

That's awesome! We'd wait too!!! Glad you have more family coming - that's awesome!

I sure hope Josh does it too - we'll see...

Sounds like you got lots of stuff done at the condo! WTG! I don't know how you do it? It's been so much work for you!

You too!!!

Thanks! I was able to get everything done - that's always such a relief to me!

I might just end up buying it... I think I saw it on DVD? I need to look - we have tons of Christmas movies, and I am always looking to expand our collection.

Enjoy your day with Sarah!!! I miss those days so much - you will have so much fun!!!

**********************************************************

Yesterday was a busy day for me...

I did my work out before I even brought the girls to town for school - so it was nice to have that out of the way early, then I didn't have to try to do it after.

I went to work right away. I was able to finsih quilting the bag, plus I cut out and finished the applique. I would consider that a successful day for me. :thumbsup2

I did end up doing a second trip to town... Allison texted me from her field trip, and said she really wasn't feeling well - so I went to town and met the bus and brought her home with me. It's just a cold with a sore throat, but I am such an easy mom - I let me kids stay home almost any time. I probably shouldn't, but I don't like them being miserable at school either.

She is staying home with me again today. I guarantee she will go to school tomorrow though... The rule is - no friends (ahem~ Gus) if she isn't in school... And I am sure they will want to hang out tomorrow.

I am going to try to head up to my Dad's tomorrow... I am way overdue - but with being busy and all of us being sick, it's been hard trying to get up there. I am also hoping to take him to do some of his Christmas shopping while I am there, as I am not sure if I will be able to get another trip up before then. :confused3

Today - I will be doing my heavy lifting this morning.

Then I hope to finish up this bag order - which will free up tomorrow for me to go up to my Dad's a little early. :thumbsup2

I hope you all have a great day, prayers and Pixie Dust to all of you! :grouphug:

I just love how this one turned out - when I found this fabric, I was super excited! It does look a little lighter than what it actually is in pictures - but it's a really beautiful bag. And I am super happy with how the applique turned out.

The Elsa bag turned out great. :thumbsup2 The fabric is perfect for Elsa and her expression is the one that I like, confident with a little bit of sass. ;)

Lovely bag. I love the fabric and the colors you have used. And the applique looks amazing :cool1:

I love the Elsa bag. It came out just perfectly.
Hope Alli is feeling better.
We got 8 inches of snow today. We weren't supposed to but lake effect kicked in and we did. Of course, my daughter got stuck in the driveway. She and her husband had to dig her jeep out again. I don't know how she keeps getting stuck. By the time I got off work, the roads were plowed. Our road is like a washboard.
I hope you had a good day.

I hope everyone feels better!!!

YAY for Dad time!!! hope you have a great visit!

I think we are getting there... I hope.

I am very excited to spend some time with my dad today.

THanks Sue! I was very excited that I nailed her expression - and her eyes... Those were super hard!

I think the Elsa bag is fabulous.

Thank you Kathy! You've been on my mind a lot lately. My apologies that I am so far behind on your TR... I hope to take the time to catch up soon. I've been trying to watch for updates on your mom on FB, but I haven't seen anything lately. I need to go looking...

THanks Lillian... I really like it a lot.

Thanks Liz! I hope she is too... LIke I said yesterday, I am certain she will go to school today... popcorn::

Yikes!!! She sure is getting stuck a lot! I hope your road gets better, rather than worse.

Have a great weekend.

**********************************************************

I managed to finish last week's order yesterday, I was super happy about that!

Alli and I hung out all day - when I wasn't working... She is feeling OK, but still lots of cold symptoms. I am certain she will go to school today so she can hang out with Gus after work tonight. ::yes::

As for me...

I will be working out right away this morning... Level 3 30 Day Shred. :smokin: Then I am going to pack and get ready - I hope to be up to my Dad's before noon. :thumbsup2

I am excited for this trip up there - not only have I not seen him in several weeks - but I get to take him Christmas shopping. Normally, this isn't a big deal... However, this is the first year - ever - in my lifetime, I remember my Dad having $$ for Christmas. Since I've taken over his finances this year, I've managed to save up a nice chunk of cash for him... So, I plan to take a little bit up with me, so he can do some Christmas shopping. We won't break the bank or anything, but I know he is excited too - because he is a very giving person. :wizard: So, I have a fun day ahead of me.

Of course, we will go out for dinner tonight, and I will take him to church tomorrow morning.

I hope to be home tomorrow before Alli has to be to work - so I can, at least, say hi to her - otherwise I won't see her until Sunday.

That's about all! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Prayers and Pixie Dust to all! :grouphug:

D~ <---- Who also hopes to have an update for you sometime this weekend.

ohhhhhh Christmas shopping! I am so happy for your Dad! WTG D!!!! he must be so happy to be able to do something this year!

Say hi to the girls for me!!!

an update? you mean this is a trip report?!?! :rotfl2:

Have fun Christmas shopping with your dad.
I got a text from my bbf this morning. It took her 4 1/2 hours to get home from work last night. She works on the other side of Cleveland and lives out by me. She hates driving in snow, too. Schools are closed because they want to clear the roads better.
Have a good weekend.
Liz

Loved the Elsa bag. Of course I love every bag you make.
Hope Alli gets better fast.
Last night we had a dusting. It was pretty to see, but nicer when it melts.
Hope you have a wonderful visit with your dad. Hope Christmas shopping goes well.
Have a wonderful weekend!

How great that you have been able to help your dad save up some money for Christmas. I hope you both have a great time shopping.

Yeah! Have fun shopping with you Dad. That sounds like fun. :goodvibes

I'm getting excited for Black Friday. I may not buy anything this year, but I will go and watch the craziness at the stores! Cheap entertainment, right? :lmao:

Are you going to hit any of the stores on Black Friday? Target looked like they had some pretty good deals.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

I get to oversee my Mom's finances as well, so well done for you that your Dad is going to be able to give this year. Mom is very crafty, so even when she's on the low end of finances (like this year because of last minute medical stuff) she'll probably give at least those of us in Alabama a little something.

Hope everyone does well the next few days with the snow and unseasonable cold - it is NOT supposed to be 30 degrees at 8:00 in the morning in November in Alabama. At least we don't have snow though. -sorry.:scared:

Hope Allison gets to feeling better & shopping with Dad was fun!

The bag is beautiful!
My dd6 has been fighting a sore throat too. I'm trying to resist running right to the dr. ( I usually do) I'm seeing these cold symptoms LINGER in my classroom. I hope your girl feels better soon.

Yes, he was very excited... It took him a little while to get into it though - he isn't used to spending $$. He was like a little kid though, once he was into it... I had to drag him out of several stores and away from several kiosks, because he was distracted by everything. :rotfl2:

I did - they said hello back.

Hahaha... Supposedly.

Have fun Christmas shopping with your dad.

Thanks Lynee!

She is still horse, and as she would say "has a manly voice"... But she is trying to stumble through working this weekend, so she can hang out with Gus - even though I can tell she still isn't feeling well.

We had lots of fun! Thank you.

How great that you have been able to help your dad save up some money for Christmas. I hope you both have a great time shopping.

Yes, it was really neat - he had a lot of fun too.

Yeah! Have fun shopping with you Dad. That sounds like fun.

It was a lot of fun!

Hehehe... Yes, I agree - my favorite part about Black Friday - when it was Black Friday, was working that opening shift - I loved seeing all of the people and what they purchased... It was my favorite day of the year to work. Now that we are opening on Thanksgiving - it's not the same, and I don't like it at all.

It depends on what Alli and I are scheduled for BF... I asked them to schedule us for a shift that is semi-close in the same hours, so we aren't working at opposite times. Alli mentioned that she wants to do some BF shopping this year - so I guess we are just going to have to see. I know my neighbor and I are going out on Saturday to do our big yearly shopping trip together - we always go out for lunch and make a whole day of it - it's so much fun. We might even have baby Evie with us this year?

Thanks! You too!

You're getting really good at those princess bags. Love the material behind Elsa.

Yikes!!! I hope you can see the light at the end of the tunnel Ruth!

Thank you!

It's hard managing 2 household finances... THankfully, I've been able to set up everything for my dad as auto withdrawl... Makes my l life super easy - and his too.

Stay warm, and dry down there.

Thanks!!! Me too = yes it was a lot of fun!

Enjoy the time with your dad!

Yes - I am certain that Alli has the same thing I had a few weeks ago... It lingered forever... I seem to still have to clear my throat/lungs constantly yet... Hopefully you can keep your classroom germ free, so you don't get it too. :flower3:

**********************************************************

Well, yesterday - it was madness, for sure!

First things first... Took Alli to the Dr. right away in the morning, just to double check that it wasn't Strep - it wasn't... Just a virus, like I had. So, I dropped her off at school on my way up to my Dad's.

I arrived there... Roads are really bad by his place - they were part of the 14" dump of snow last weekend. The main highway was Ok - but the streets and county roads were awful. When I heard that they were to get more snow today, I made the excutive decision to drive home last night.

My dad was excited to see me and spend the day with me.

First - we had to get his address changed on his drivers license... It's a year overdue. Oops.

Then we hit the mall... He had lots of fun picking out items for the girls. And I was constantly having to steer him out of stores and keep him on track... He wanted to buy every toy there was out there - even though there is no one on his list that had any interest in toys (except for maybe himself... LOL)...

He wanted to push his walker, rather than get a wheelchair... but the last leg of the mall, he tuckered out fast - so I had to go get my car and pick him up at a different door than we parked at. It was just as well, we were done anyways. Next time, I will over-ride him and get the wheelchair.

He wanted to take me out to Red Lobster for lunch... Love sea food! I pitched in some of my own $$ too, because the only thing I wanted was a $30 meal. :scared: But it was the only thing on their menu that didn't come with all these added sauces and it was grilled - it just looked good. And it was worth it, super yummy! I polished it off very quickly - I hadn't had lunch yet and it was after 3pm. Dad ordered crab legs - which was a HUGE treat for him! He loved it all!

Loving the Santa look my dad is pulling off fantastically this year - it's hard to see in the picture, but his beard is perfectly white! And now that they Dr. told him that he has to wear suspenders, rather than a belt - well, it's just perfect. He told me that some of the ladies at his apartment building call him "Burle Ives"... hehehe...

20141114_152323.jpg

The waitress was kind enough to take a picture of us together too - even though it isn't the most flattering picture of me... :confused3

20141114_152602.jpg

Then we went to one last store, where my dad needed to get some denim bib overalls (the suspender thing again...) and a gift for my brother.

When we were checking out - we ran into my Aunt... Rather, she ran into us. It was so cool! I know this sounds strange, but I NEVER run into anyone I know here - I mean, I do, but not family. It's weird for me to go home and run into random family members... It feels good. I do miss it a lot.

I don't miss driving there though - it's awful. I had to use my horn countless times yesterday, and narrowly avoided several accidents (not exaggerating)... St. Cloud, MN is notorius for being the WORST city to drive in, ever. It still shocks me that this is the city I learned how to drive in... I detest driving there now in the worst way!

Anyways... I took my dad home... Wrapped his gifts for him. Tried to take a nice nap on his couch - which didn't work. So I headed home. It was hard staying awake the first leg of the trip, but once I hit the Cities - I love the action on the interstate, switching lanes and traffic and such... I am always wide awake.

I made it home safely.

Gus picked Alli up from work, and they arrived home shortly after I did.

Josh and Victoria came home from the hockey game after that.

Josh and I went to bed, the girls and Gus stayed up. Not sure how late Gus stayed last night? :confused3

And that's all for the play - by - play of yesterday... If you made it through, great! If not - I totally understand. I know a lot of you have a fondness for my dad, so that's why I wrote it all out. :grouphug:

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Prayers and good thoughts to all of you! :grouphug:
