hi everyone! i have a question regarding a part time cake business i'm starting. where would i go about buying cake/pie boxes?

There is a cake supply place around here that sells everything you would need to make and decorate cakes and candies, including boxes. I would check and see if you have any place like that in your area. The one around here is called Country Kitchen. I don't know if it is a chain or if it is locally owned.

It depends on the volume of business you want to do. I make cakes part-time and need a small supply of boxes. I usually pick some up at party supply or craft stores like Wayside Bazaar, Michael's or AC Moore.

For other supplies like tools, decorations, colors, rentals of cake stands, etc. I shop at Verna's or Lorraine's Cake Decorating in Cambridge.

Be sure and check your local and state laws regarding preparing/selling foods...I just saw on the news recently a story in my state where the health department was cracking down--I think here food must be prepared in a commercial kitchen and you must have a food handlers license.

Best of Luck!!
