Oh remember when I said I would be busy moving this weekend? We've had a small change in plans!
I thought some might find a Disney gif filled post about our first experience as homeowners fun.
So as new homeowners one of the first things we were excited to do was plan how we would renovate and decorate our new place. Our condo was built in the early 80s, and needed a bit of love and updating.
One of the first things we thought would be easy to do within a couple of evenings was to paint all the rooms. So off we went to Home Depot to buy paint and supplies.
We were in the paint aisle while our carefully selected colors of paint were being mixed when we noticed a fancy automated painting roller....
The automated roller was on even on clearance!
It was meant to be! We just knew the automated roller would save us so much time and eagerly loaded it into our cart. We were ready to try that puppy out!
Yeah, Stacey! Were going to show those ugly yellow walls whos boss!
We drove back to the condo and I read over the instructions for the fancy automated roller and setting it up was simple enough. The paint went on the wall beautifully! This painting thing was fun and easy!
We were almost done knocking out a large wall in the living room when...
The hose that was feeding the paint into my roller came unclamped and fell onto the floor, but thats okay... I can handle a little paint splatter.
I reconnected the hose and continued painting. Then the hose became unclamped again! This time there wasnt just a little paint splatter, there was a huge paint splatter and the paint went down the front of my pants and shoes. When the hose fell it also splashed paint all over the place and made a huge mess. It didnt matter that we had carefully applied painters tape to the wood trim and tarped the floor... the paint found its way onto the brick fireplace, the untarped center of the floor, and the ceiling.
Drew and I cleaned up what we could of the mess and left the condo. I think we have realized we were biting off more than we can chew with our DIY plans considering we also have an infant to take care of. Instead of trying to make all of the rooms perfect were just going to work on the living room, then in a few months work on the kitchen, and maybe in a year look at the bathrooms. Drew and his friend are going to paint this weekend with regular paint rollers and trays. It looks like next weekend we should be able to move in!
