~ A 21 month old, a celebrity sighting, & a whole lotta food~2 week trip~ 2/28 update

That Tonga Toast looks delicious.

Kona Cafe is on my short list for the feb 2010 trip...

Are those the replacement sunglasses your DH is wearing?

Aquariums....:cloud9: Something very relaxing about them...

Oh my!! That Tonga Toast looks awesome!! Would you believe that we didn't have any and we DID stay at the Poly?! I totally forgot! Next time, right?! And LOVE those Nemo bath toys!! Soooo cute!! :goodvibes

Another great update! Love your photos :thumbsup2

That breakfast at Kona Cafe looks so good, I might have to become a breakfast person :)

And congrats on starting your PTR!

That Tonga toast looks wonderful. If you find the recipe pass it on to us please. That darling Dylan. I'm glad he was feeling better and at least well enough to clown around for pictures. So very cute. The bath toys are so cute. My grandchildren loved those types when they were small.

I love the Nemo ride! I think it's so cute! Too bad you didn't know about that FP rule! Next time....

I wish we had known about the FP rule. It would have changed things on a few other days too. We had a couple FP that we ended up not using. Quite disappointing, but at least we know for next time.

Kona Cafe is definitely worth going to for any meal of the day. Breakfast was the only one that we hadn't tried so far and it was as good as other times of the day.

Yes, those are the replacement glasses. They are solid white on the sides and it just looks weird with the black front. But at least they aren't as bad as some of the other options we had.

Wow! I heard they serve the Tonga Toast in the QS restaurant downstairs too. You will definitely have to try it next time. Sooo good. The Nemo toys are so cute...except when you step on them barefoot in the middle of the living room. :headache: At least he really likes them!

Thanks so much! I am not a big breakfast person either, but I love to have in on vacation. I know, I'm weird. But look at the options you get at WDW!

The PTR has not gotten much attention yet, but I'm slowly getting going. It's different to be planning for DL after I spent so much time on our WDW trip.

Ginny

Hi Ginny! I swear that I've seen someone post that recipe here on the Dis. I will definitely post it if I find it again.

Dylan was definitely starting to feel better by that point. Once we knew what was wrong we were able to help him out a little. He is such a happy kid that he doesn't stay upset for long.

I love the updates. Your DS looks so much like you and like your Mom, he's too cute!! The Nemo bath toys are great!! My kiddos would love those!

Aw, I loved this update.

Kona looks great. I can't wait to eat there for breakfast in March. I am definately having the Tonga Toast. But, it looks like it was huge!

Haha, my little guy always puts his sunglasses on upside down too! Must be a thing they do!

Oh my gosh, that numbing stuff for the gums was my best friend. Whenever I would see he was in some pain, I'd lather it on and then he was a happy camper.

HAHAHA, the comedian pics made me laugh out loud. I love the one of you holding his hands too! LOL

I love the Nemo ride! Aw, that's some cute stories about him at the tanks!

We got my little guy that bath set too! He loves them!

Just wanted to say I am subscribed to your DL pre-trip report. I can't wait until we go back to DL (who knows when that will be though).

Great update as well. I agree about riding the monorail through Future World. It's so neat to see all the different attractions. Great pictures from Nemo too!

Great trip report, just read it from start to finish and can't wait for the next installment.

We too were in WDW in June but left on the 14th I think and the heat was worse than usual for us too. Next time we go we will have to try some of the offsite places you ate at especially the one you went to on fathers day.

Great update. The Tonga Toast looks yummy:) I love the shots of Epcot that your mom took, that is such a pretty area back in there.
What is this FP rule?? I'm completely out of the loop:confused3 I thought you could only use it during the times listed on the card i.e. if it says 1130:-1:30 at 1:40 I could no longer use it?
Dylan putting the sunglasses on upside down reminds me of my little cousins.. they do the same thing, over and over! The monorail ride into Epcot is def on my to-do list for December, it has been quite a few years since I've done it, and like you said, I love getting a sneak peak of the park!

awww this was a cute update! I love the picture of him pressed up against the aquarium glass and the one in front of the seagulls. It looks like he's pointing to them all excited! I know my DD loved them and kept saying "mine mine" anytime we got near the Nemo ride. I subbed to your PTR too!

Love your trip report! Your DS is precious and he looks like he loves WDW as much as his Mommy and Daddy do! Can't wait to read the rest of your report!

They serve Tonga Toast at Captain Cooks?! I didn't know that!! Thanks for the heads up!! :woohoo:

Hi again! Been a little behind but catching up now! :)

I LOVE the Polynesian too but have never stayed there either - hopefully soon! We had my birthday dinner at O'hana this year and at Kona last year. Both were delicious - my DH prefers Kona while I prefer O'hana...we are having DD's 6th bday dinner at O'hana in December for our grand gathering (party of 28!) :woohoo: They did bring me out the Koko Puffs at Kona last year for my bday with a candle, I have a picture of it somewhere too!

Dylan is just sooo cute, he has the cutest little face! So sad to see him not feeling well; we've had that w/ DD22mos. where she has been teething and just not feeling well :sad1: We've done the in and out of Sci-Fi also! It's just so quiet in there it feels like every little sound will disrupt all the other guests and you get so worried about it, it totally stresses you out!

Well, looking forward to the rest of your TR and will be following you to your PTR for DL!

By the way, your mom took great pictures in Epcot! :goodvibes

Ooh, one more thing - I noticed Dylan has an ID tattoo on, could you please give me the website address? I know people have posted it here before but I can't find it now :confused3 I want to get them for our December trip - 12 kids!!!:yay:

I love the updates. Your DS looks so much like you and like your Mom, he's too cute!! The Nemo bath toys are great!! My kiddos would love those!

Thanks! We always make a joke that the genes are strong on my side of the family. The Nemo toys are a big hit with him.

The numbing stuff is our best weapon when he's teething. It works so fast and he forgets about it after a few minutes. I wish that this phase was over because it seems to be dragging on forever!

Thanks for subscribing to my other report. I haven't had a lot of time to work on it, but I am starting to get really excited about that trip.

The monorail is fun anytime, but that part is one of my favorite times on the whole track. I wish I could ride it right now.

Great trip report, just read it from start to finish and can't wait for the next installment.

Wow! Thanks for reading all the way through it. I hope it didn't take you too long. Even though it's been a few months since we were there, I can still remember that heat very clearly. I don't ever remember it feeling that hot before. Eating offsite is a fun experience. A lot of time, you don't get the fun theming but you will find really good food for less money than you find on property.

Ok, I hope I'm not giving you wrong info, but this is what I have read on other people's TRs. Apparently you can use your FP any time after the return time. Not just during the window of time on the FP. So we could have used those Soarin' FP any time later that evening when we came back to the park. If we had known that, we would have done things differently throughout the whole trip.

The sunglass thing makes me laugh. He still does that now. I don't know why but he will deliberately turn them the wrong way, even if I hand them to him the right way. :confused3

LOL. Dylan has just learned the word "mine" recently (& understand what it means) so he has been using it a lot lately. We are trying to squash that early, but it's a process. The seagulls make me laugh too. He really enjoyed the aquariums, and it was so cute how small he was in comparison when he was standing against the glass like that.

Love your trip report! Your DS is precious and he looks like he loves WDW as much as his Mommy and Daddy do! Can't wait to read the rest of your report!

We are hoping that our "brainwashing" of all things Disney is working on him. He seemed to really enjoy himself and he still gets excited when we show him the pictures, so.... so far, so good. :)

I hope I'm not wrong, but I SWEAR that I read that somewhere. I never went in there to verify it on the trip, but I remember thinking that we should get it there next time if we want it but are in a hurry.

Oh my! A Grand Gathering for 28 sounds wonderful! And a little scary (since I would end up being the one that was planning it). I think you are going to have such a great time at O'hana with all of those people.

The Sci-Fi experience was so weird that it almost is a blur to me now. I get really worried about bothering others, so I probably overreact sometimes, but I would rather do that then not do anything at all. Looking back on it now, I realize that it was all probably tied into the teething but at the time it was very unusal for him.

The tatoos were awesome. We got them through www.safetytat.com. If you have that many kids on your trip, it's probably a good idea to get them. I think we ordered a pack of 24 but they have different styles & quanitities. It is worth the peace of mind.

Great trip report! I'm in for the rest of the trip!:goodvibes

Thanks for joining in! :goodvibes

They do have the Tonga Toast at Captain Cooks. I think it is about 5 or 6 dollars with bacon. I am glad I got it there because I think I am the only one who is not a big fan. The bananas seem to be overly ripe to me so I didn't really like it. Of course the next trip I went back again just to make sure LOL and I still didn't like it. I just don't like my bananas that ripe. :confused3 Oh well I am probably better off

Hi! Thanks so much for the info on the tattoos - we'll definitely be getting them!

You are correct about the fastpass info - we have done this many times. A CM at DHS told us once when we were eating at 50's PrimeTime Cafe and worried about missing our window to ride TSM. So, now we hold onto them the whole day unless we absolutely know we won't be going back later that day and then we give them to someone as we're leaving the park - it always brings a smile to someone's day; we've been on the receiving end as well a couple of times. :goodvibes

Well, I AM planning the grand gathering so yeah, a little scary but soooooo worth it! So very excited and looking forward to it! I hosted a mom's planning meeting at our home (while the dad's babysat! ;)) in September before making our ADR's and now that those are set I'm working on putting spreadsheets together so everyone can have all the info and we're trying to get matching tshirts for all the kids to help keep track of them all and sooo many other details I keep thinking of! Then, of course, there's trying to please everybody and feeling responsible if something doesn't go as planned, but luckily we're all family and a pretty easy-going bunch so, that helps!! :thumbsup2 I'm debating making a PTR but I'm afraid I may be overwhelmed enough as it is and I don't want to overdo it! It would be my first so... :confused3 I'm thinking a TR might be more realistic and hopefully we'll have tons of great pictures to share! :)
