$99 HP Touchpad

I finally got a cancellation email today from B&N on my 2nd order. It took them 5 days! And I never got a $20 giftcard, either.

my first shipping date was for the 22nd, then it was pushed back to the 27th.. which is tomorrow.. but as of today, my order is still in that "admin" phase.. and nothing has been done on it. I doubt it's going out tomorrow.. It would just be nice if their customer service associates could email us with an update on what is going on since obviously their website for Order Status is incorrect.

I totally agree their order status stinks. They should at least email and tell you that the TP are on back order and might take a little longer than expected. I haven't called them yet about my TP order, but boy am I tempted now. The thing that gets me is that my order date was Aug.21 and HP changed it to Aug. 23 which doesn't make sense because the TP were out of stock the night of Aug 21. . So now that the hold for the charges have been taken off and the money is back in my account I would love to start looking else where but I'm afraid that they will go back into my CC account and take the money out when they finally decide to ship the TP. This so frustrating.

Call and cancel the order if you don't want the charge to go on your card and don't want to wait...or find another and I am sure you can find someone on here that will take the HP one from you if it comes.

SAMs has one like this....Vizio makes it.....it's not an iPad but neither were the HP's. With a 3 year replacement warranty, it's $300 out the door......FYI instead of waiting in line! It does everything HP does!

they canceled my pending charges too the other day.. I think there is a time frame on how long they can "hold" money and not actually charge it.. and they cannot charge it until they ship out the item..

I charged on Amex on 8/21 and my pending charges are still there. I have 2 HP orders and have received all the same notifications for both, but my deliver date is Sept 16th.

OK So I'm back!!

OK here's my story....so I got to best buy around 8am and NO ONE was there....I thought it was odd but hey maybe its my day right, so i get out of my car and head over to the "line starts here" area, I sit down and wait. (wow what good luck ) Soon 4 kids show up then 2 guys. We all get to talking and then some other guy who has gotten out of his car but has been in his car this whole time gets out ad is knockin on the door of the BB. He tells us they gave out tickets this am like at 5/6am and is trying to confirm.

Naturally dissapointed especially when the BB employee comes out and tells us we should have been there last night, they gave out about 30 tix like at about 5/6am.

So anyway so thats my story, didnt even make it to store opening to get denied. hahahaha, there's another store but supposedly its jammed packed so I'm not even trying!

I figured like Black Friday they would at least wait till closer to store opening at hand out tickets, now all these people went home, really they should have been waiting. I asked her if they havea certain time they have to pick up by, she said 11am but didnt sound so sure..It's not my closest store so I wont even bother going back.
so thats this morning's rush!! hahaha

At the best buy I just came from, they were waiting since last night!

Also I can say Walmart and Staples inventory checkers showing instore availability not accurate. Went to get hard case at Walmart--online shows my store had and price online $19.99. Guy was so sweet and said even though they had they don't match the online store---tried to get manager to do but the manager wouldn't and I understood. He apologized up and down. Staples also showed in stock so I went there---$29 or so I believe. I asked the guy where they were...he said stock thing not up to date and they didn't have. Said thanks walked out and ordered off Amazon (it is shipping today the case). All of this before confirmation of order from HP Small Business.

I learned my lesson last Christmas with the Walmart trackers! Now I call and read them the UPC before I even go out. I found one in the small town my dad lives in that showed availability on the cases and docks. The gal could find the case, but not the 3 docks they showed in stock. And she looked nearly an hour before calling me back. A store near my brother has 5 docks and cases, I sent him the link showing the online prices and he will see if they will pricematch. (I've seen varying degrees of success with that on other boards.) We'll see. I'm probably jinxing myself by even having him look. I'll end up with accessories and no touchpad!

well just got info from my last hope, asktp. they had a pity me story. I figured it was bring strung all the way with not actual TP in stock but who knows. I will cancel my card just in case even tho I was never charged just to make sure.

I have the Staples sale flyer, which starts tomorrow. In it, there is the HP Touchpad 32gb for $549.99. Interesting....

I know flyers are made weeks in advance. So, does this mean they will be available tomorrow? Thought I'd pass along this info for what it's worth. Unfortunately, Hurricane Irene has other plans for me, so I won't be at Staples. Maybe I'll try online if it shows the price of $149 (if the electric doesn't go out.)

I have the BB ad, too. Didn't see it; only saw Samsung Galaxy.

The online ad for BB shows it near the back of the booklet I think page 24ish. I'm suprised that they wouldn't remove it from the online ad at least.

Well today is the so called pushed back shipping date for me. You know, the one that HP already changed it to I checked my credit card online.. no charges have been made to my account. I checked the email log on site for HP, no changes have been made stating they were shipped or not shipped, and the same goes for the HP site where you have to give your PO# on. That one still shows that it is in the "admin" phase.. nothing changed.. Now you would think that since they are stating on their site that today is the date it's to be shipped (and has been changed already once) they would notify me that they are not shipping it out. Why bother to have an Order Status area when the damn thing is not up to date, neither of them..

Well it doesn't really do everything the HP tablet does. The HP is optimized for a tablet. The Visio is running the phone software, not the Android tablet software. Think of it as a big Droid that doesn't make phone calls.

Don't get me wrong, for the price it is decent. But the differences of note:

7" screen instead of 10"
Single core instead of dual core processor.
Half the memory.
VGA instead of 1.2 MP camera.
4GB storage instead of 16/32GB.

Most importantly, the Visio runs customized Android 2.3 software. It isn't the tablet software Honeycomb. But it does have full access to the Android market, so you can rent movies, download apps, etc. it is nice for the price, but it really is just an over sized phone, not a true tablet.
