Really not sure whether to choose economy seats on the upper deck of 747 or lower deck. It's just DBF and I and the lower deck has some seats which are just 2 in a row, but I read these are last off the plane and food choices can be limited. I also read if you choose upper deck you are more likely to be moved. Has anyone got any thoughts on this or any tips? If you choose seats can you change your mind and log back on to pick new seats?
I know it's all a bit trivial, so I'm sorry I'm being fussy!

We travel as 2 adults, and go for those 2 seats right at the rear of the plane every time.
The bonus of not having to disturb someone (or have someone disturb you!) to get out of your seat, nobody kicking you from behind etc more than make up for the one occasion we didn't get our first choice of food.

In fact, one trip they even offered us a dish from PE as they'd run out of one of the Economy ones by the time they got to us.

As far as getting off last, just have your hand luggage ready to go and walk faster than the dawdlers to immigration. Being seated at the back of the plane doesn't make much difference in my experience.

We'll be booking ours in five weeks and if there's any chance I think we'll be doing upstairs! It's something a little bit different so we're keen to try it if we can.

We chose upstairs in the end. Just thought we might not get that opportunity again. I went on at 11am and only 3 economy seats upstairs had already been allocated, I was surprised. DBF had only ever flown with Ryan Air or Jet 2, think he might find it a bit different! lol

:thumbsup2 Yes this...we ALWAYS go for these as we'd rather be comfortable for 9+ hours (well as comfortable as you can be in economy) and hope for the best in immigration, which has only given us a problem once and that was last year when the plane took off 3 1/2 hours late!! As for food, we found that they normally serve from the back of the plane first so its never been a problem. I have stopped pre ordering my vegetarian meal because of this. So I'd say def go for the two seats and if you are lucky you can also pay for the extra leg room ones which gives you an extra couple of inches and it is noticeable..:)

Great advice. My partner and I were contemplating whether to sit at the back or not and now our mind is made me (all according we get them 90 days beforehand)

Was that at 11am at your 90 day mark? I already have our 90 day mark in the calendar!

Yes it was the 90 day mark. I wasn't sure what time to log on because I did read that the seats may not be released until the time of your flight on that day but our flight isn't till 13:45pm. :)

You can book at 8am on your 90 day mark, the seat map might show the day before, but at 8am you can book. Doesn't matter the flight time, its 8am.

Just booked at 90 days for my outward two weeks ago and my return last weekend and both were cleared at 8am.

Thank you. I'll log on at 8am then to book our return seats :)

It is worth baring in mind that the back of the plane is the bumpiest bit, so if that is the sort of thing that will bother you it is worth some thought. I had seats at the back (again because there were 2 of us) on the way out and the way back. The way out I was fine. The way back they moved me forward because I am not a good flyer and there was a fair bit of turbulence - I was very grateful and personally will not chose to sit at the back again! However, I know plenty of other people that will not bother them :)

August flights seem pretty full, just got the last 4. Extra legroom seats on our flights to and from Orlando ! That was at 89 days out!
