I'm finally getting around to another installment!! Work has been getting in the way of my DISboard time
After pool time and naps, we were headed to the Yacht Club for dinner. Our reservations were for 7pm, but we decided to head over fairly early and see if we could get a table.
As we were getting ready to leave, a monsoon fell upon the Poly! Now I really can't complain because this was the only time during the week that it rained this hard. We had to run from building to building to get to the monorail! Needless to say we were soaked. We finally got wise and put ponchos on. I can totally understand why some people would find fault with the separate buildings at the Poly. If it had rained each day, and we had to endure downpours while running from building to building...it would have gotten old fast. Fortunately, this wasn't the case.
We rode the monorail over to the MK, then took the YC/BC bus to the resort. When we arrived it had finally stopped raining, but we were soaked! You will be able to tell in the pictures.
Of course I started flashing pictures when we entered the YC!!
I really like the atmosphere of the YC!!! Very nautical and beautiful!
Notice DS9s shirt!! He was still wet from the Poly Monsoon!
After tons of pics in the lobby, we headed for the restaurant...DH's favorite (one of his favorites)
After checking in, we went to the bar area and watched them cut meat. The kids thought this was great. If the whole meat cutting thing freaks you out, you may not want to visit the bar.
DH was already picking out the cut of meat that he wanted to eat.
After a very short wait, we were seated and greeted by our waiter. Of course we ordered appetizers! I had the escargot....good, but not great. I had this last year and it was much better.
DH and my mother ordered the lobster bisque. When it came out, they both took big bites and had very strange looks on their faces. Something was terribly wrong with the soup!! They said it was like someone added a cup of salt. We told the waiter and he took it back to the kitchen. When the waiter returned, he said the chef told him that indeed something was wrong with it. The funny thing is, the waiter never apologized...he just looked at us and said, "This soup isn't something that I recommended!" Strange, huh??!! We all kinda laughed at the whole situation...we weren't going to let that ruin our meal.
The main course was outstanding!!!! I usually get the filet, but DH talked me into getting the Oak-fired Ribeye....EXCELLENT choice! It melted in my mouth.
DH had the 24oz Porterhouse...another tasty choice!!!
I'll give you one guess as to what I had for dessert.......yep....you guessed it! And it was delicious!!!!!!
DH had the Signature Banana Napoleon....once again...outstanding!!!
Now....the kids dessert was so very cute. I have never had this at any other restaurant on Disney property. Not sure if it's a Yachtsman dessert or if they offer it elsewhere. It was a Mickey & Minnie Dessert Puzzle.
The plate was an artist palate that had 3 different edible colors. The puzzle pieces were white chocolate. The kids painted the pieces then put the puzzle together.....they loved it!!!!!!
Disney is always coming up with the neatest ideas for children and families. Desserts like this make dining so much easier with younger children.
We had a terrific dinner!!!!...even with the Lobster Bisque situation. This is definitely one of our favortie restaurants. The service could have been a little better, but not something that would prevent us from returning.
After dinner we decided to stroll around SAB and the Boardwalk. DS9 was intrigued with the entire pool area. And of course he proceeds to tell us multiple times that this is the resort we need to choose next time.
DS9's wish has been granted!!! BC here we come.....next June!
Once again, we had an incredible dinner!!! After walking down the Boardwalk, we headed back to the Poly....wanted to be back in time for one last night of Wishes on the patio!!
Stay tuned for breakfast at The Grand Floridian's 1900 Park Fare.
