9 Days Poly CL DxDP...Too Much Food???...Too Much Fun!!!...1600 Pictures

school already? wow! this summer has gone by sooo fast!!!

what grade do you teach?

Oh yes...we went back yesterday! I teach 8th grade Language Arts...and really do love it. Go back early, get out early! Last year we were out on May 14th, or somewhere around there. That's how we were able to go to WDW BEFORE the crowds hit on Memorial Day and before it gets too hot. It does seem like the summer has flown by....guess I can look at it this way....my June Disney trip gets closer every day! Now I'm waiting for my 180 day mark;) Just need to figure out exactly when that is!

Heather, I love that your Dad is chiming in:lmao:

Took our Grandpa last trip, and it was the best of memories:thumbsup2

We are planning a Hawaii cruise/Disney Land trip with the other set of Grands for 2012:cool1:

I just told my Mom & Dad about this plan and they were totally on board

My Mom has MS, so a cruise is better and she could keep up for 4 days in Disney Land. Disney World would be a bit much for her, so I knew this would work for her!!!!:banana::banana:

8th grade is such a great grade to teach! :thumbsup2 i know it's not as difficult as being the actual teacher, but i've been a substitute teacher for a couple years. i was surprised by how much i enjoyed junior high and high school.

it WOULD be nice to get out before other schools .. i'm just not ready for it yet. this will be the first year in over 15 years that i have an empty house all day. combine that with my DH deploying in september and it is going to be one empty house! :sad2: i'm hoping all the teachers take pity on me and need lots of 'mom help' :teacher:. then maybe next year, i'll actually try to use that degree i have :confused3.

on the bright side ... my house may actually stay clean for a few hours  .. AND i do have our christmas disney trip to keep arranging and rearranging :lmao:.

My parents are the greatest. Mom tells me that dad is obsessed with Disney and is always on some sort of Disney website checking out everything. I thought that I was the fanatic in the family, but perhaps he has me beat now.

Sorry to hear your mom has MS, ....I know how precious parents are, but what a great way to create memories with her...none other than Disney!! We would like to take a Disney cruise, too, when the DS3 is a bit older....maybe on the "Dream".

.......

:lmao::rotfl: Rearranging is probably the correct word!!! How many times can one change and rearrange a Disney trip???

More great pictures! Question, how was the arcade at the Poly? Does it compare to the other deluxe resorts?

Tha arcade at the CR is much better IMO...the GF's arcade isn't much....Poly is better. I don't remember what the WL had to offer. DH and DS went without me. These are the only arcades we have visited. I'm anxious to see what the BC/YC have to offer. DS9 doesn't care what the arcades are like...just as long as they have games;)

I'm finally getting around to another installment!! Work has been getting in the way of my DISboard time;)

After pool time and naps, we were headed to the Yacht Club for dinner. Our reservations were for 7pm, but we decided to head over fairly early and see if we could get a table.

As we were getting ready to leave, a monsoon fell upon the Poly! Now I really can't complain because this was the only time during the week that it rained this hard. We had to run from building to building to get to the monorail! Needless to say we were soaked. We finally got wise and put ponchos on. I can totally understand why some people would find fault with the separate buildings at the Poly. If it had rained each day, and we had to endure downpours while running from building to building...it would have gotten old fast. Fortunately, this wasn't the case.

We rode the monorail over to the MK, then took the YC/BC bus to the resort. When we arrived it had finally stopped raining, but we were soaked! You will be able to tell in the pictures.

Of course I started flashing pictures when we entered the YC!!

I really like the atmosphere of the YC!!! Very nautical and beautiful!

Notice DS9s shirt!! He was still wet from the Poly Monsoon!

After tons of pics in the lobby, we headed for the restaurant...DH's favorite (one of his favorites)

DSC02572.jpg

After checking in, we went to the bar area and watched them cut meat. The kids thought this was great. If the whole meat cutting thing freaks you out, you may not want to visit the bar.

DSC02571.jpg

DH was already picking out the cut of meat that he wanted to eat.

After a very short wait, we were seated and greeted by our waiter. Of course we ordered appetizers! I had the escargot....good, but not great. I had this last year and it was much better.

DSC_1799.jpg

DH and my mother ordered the lobster bisque. When it came out, they both took big bites and had very strange looks on their faces. Something was terribly wrong with the soup!! They said it was like someone added a cup of salt. We told the waiter and he took it back to the kitchen. When the waiter returned, he said the chef told him that indeed something was wrong with it. The funny thing is, the waiter never apologized...he just looked at us and said, "This soup isn't something that I recommended!" Strange, huh??!! We all kinda laughed at the whole situation...we weren't going to let that ruin our meal.

The main course was outstanding!!!! I usually get the filet, but DH talked me into getting the Oak-fired Ribeye....EXCELLENT choice! It melted in my mouth.

DSC_1801.jpg

DH had the 24oz Porterhouse...another tasty choice!!!

DSC_1800.jpg

I'll give you one guess as to what I had for dessert.......yep....you guessed it! And it was delicious!!!!!!

DSC02585.jpg

DH had the Signature Banana Napoleon....once again...outstanding!!!

DSC02584.jpg

Now....the kids dessert was so very cute. I have never had this at any other restaurant on Disney property. Not sure if it's a Yachtsman dessert or if they offer it elsewhere. It was a Mickey & Minnie Dessert Puzzle.

DSC02581.jpg

The plate was an artist palate that had 3 different edible colors. The puzzle pieces were white chocolate. The kids painted the pieces then put the puzzle together.....they loved it!!!!!!

DSC02583.jpg

Disney is always coming up with the neatest ideas for children and families. Desserts like this make dining so much easier with younger children.

DSC02582.jpg

We had a terrific dinner!!!!...even with the Lobster Bisque situation. This is definitely one of our favortie restaurants. The service could have been a little better, but not something that would prevent us from returning.

After dinner we decided to stroll around SAB and the Boardwalk. DS9 was intrigued with the entire pool area. And of course he proceeds to tell us multiple times that this is the resort we need to choose next time.

DSC02590.jpg

DS9's wish has been granted!!! BC here we come.....next June!

DSC02586.jpg

Once again, we had an incredible dinner!!! After walking down the Boardwalk, we headed back to the Poly....wanted to be back in time for one last night of Wishes on the patio!!

Stay tuned for breakfast at The Grand Floridian's 1900 Park Fare.

So strange about the bisque...what an odd reaction for the server to have. I'm glad that didn't ruin your meal! That porterhouse is to die for (literally, I thought it was going to kill me!) and I'm really looking forward to returning there!

Question about the escargot, because I've never had it and was thinking of trying it: How is it? What does it taste like? What made it better last time than this time? :) I've never found an actual description of escargot but figured what the heck.

Hi! I just got all caught up and subscribed to your TR! You have such a beautiful family!

And stop being to defensive of your opinion! You have a right to one and I find it insightful and not complaining at all. If it soooo offends then I guess whoever is reading it, shouldn't be. :goodvibes

The escargot itself is rather chewy but mild and the main taste experience is the buttery-garlic sauce....a little salty, too. Some people say it's an aquired taste, but I don't think so. I like weird food and don't mind trying different things. Escargot definitely has its own taste...nothing I can really compare it to. It's not slimy at all!! When I had it last year, they had a little more garlic taste and not as salty. This time, there was a ton of salt and the taste seemed a little off. Not horrible, just not as good as last year. The bread that came with the escargot was really tasty. I dipped the bread in the sauce...very good. You should give it a try!...why not, right?!

Wow, Heather! Just catching up and your pics are amazing! We haven't eaten at Yachtsman's, mainly because DH is borderline vegetarian - but I REALLY want to go now! That steak looks incredible and the children's dessert is absolutely adorable. What a lovely treat and thank you again for sharing!!!

Thanks for the compliment! And you're right...I shouldn't have to defend my opinion...it's just that.....an opinion;) One great thing about Disney, there are tons of options for all individuals...restaurants, resorts, parks, etc. It's so funny, though, how some people really get upset when you don't agree with "their" resort of choice.

Y'all should try Yachtsman on your next trip. There's has to be something else on the menu besides steak. If I'm not mistaken, I think there was chicken and scallops.

Oooh, good, then I can convince him that he won't starve and as long as I can keep him from making those "faces" as DD and I dig happily into our steaks - we'll be set! :rotfl: I'm trying to convince my sister that she and I need to go and if we do, we'll be at Yachtsman without a doubt!!!

I may have to change our ADR for the Yachtsman - my DS27 is a vegetarian but I chose this place because it had a few selections for him. Now I'm not too sure considering the meat being on display :scared1:

I'm trying to remember how close the display is to the entrance....if I'm right, I think you have to do a sharp left to get to the display. If you do decide to go, I wouldn't have drinks at the bar. I would take a pager and sit outside until they call you.

I really like the Yachtsman. Our favorite server is there. Ricardo is the best.
My DDIL is not a big beef eater but she always finds something at the Yachtsman. Last time she had two servings of veggies and I believe the rice side. She was well pleased and satisfied.
I'm confident your DS will be okay.

too bad about the bisque...I think Pete from DisUnplugged says he LOVES it!

I love the dessert for the kids, that is the coolest thing I have ever seen. Too bad they don't offer it at more places, maybe we will have to go there next trip!!!!

Oh lord, I think DH would bathe in it if possible. Seriously. It is very tasty, normally.

When DH and I were there last year for a couples only trip, we had the bisque and it was great! That's why we recommended it to my mom and why DH ordered it again....I really believe someone in the kitchen made a BAD mistake when making the soup. When we go back in June, perhaps we will give it another try.
